A Warmfyre Welcome: Act 3 Rundown

It’s the start of Act 3, time for a Rundown.
Unusually there will be an Open Thread up a little later

Right then, the Rundown. Here’s what’s coming:
• What EA said
• Prize items
• Premium combo
• Gil deal
• Currency jobs

What EA said:

Martin tracks the Amulet of Warmfyre to a place called “Lord Montgomery’s Castle”. There’s just one problem…the castle only exists in an expansion pack which Martin doesn’t own. The group then makes their way to The Android’s Dungeon in hopes that Comic Book Guy has a copy.
Luckily, CBG does own a copy, but he’s charging $2,000 for it. With no way to pay, the group’s quest comes to a halt. But then Nelson has an idea: what if they resume their V&V campaign and just loot everything that’s not nailed down and sell it? The gold coins they earn in their campaign would then turn into real gold coins!
The plan works, and after their looting spree the group acquires the expansion pack. Before summoning Lord Montgomery’s Castle into Springfield though, they decide to play through the encounter in V&V first to gain some insight on their upcoming foe. There they learn that Lord Montgomery lures weary travelers to his castle with the promise of a great feast, only to poison and loot them!
With the adequate knowledge in-hand, the group then travels to Lord Montgomery’s Castle in real life, but not before drinking antidote potions in advance. This advantage allows them to easily overcome Lord Montgomery, and they demand the location of the Amulet of Warmfyre. It turns out it’s right behind them…resting in the claws of Lord Montgomery’s faithful pet, the Dragon of Springfieldia!

  1. Be careful. I accidentally bought the Gil Deal when checking to see how big it was. I clicked the x to cancel, but the cancel and confirmation appear to be missing (mine is always on). It’s about as lame as Alissa thought, although it does have a 5.5% bonus.

    • I suspect because it’s a bundle it got added to inventory so if you tap the X when placing it goes back into storage. Usually if you do that on an item it cancels the purchase, even a character and . . . combo – they work differently, the character is awarded when the combo item is placed

  2. I got Gils Deal in advance but im Really disappointed. I hoped i get Something Like in GOT as dragons gone wild. Some flamed building or stuff. But this is a mess. For 250(!!!!!) Donuts. Mit amused EA

  3. Wow I boutght the Gil deal BY ACCIDENT by just skipping through the stupid dialog as I never read the stupid Gil dialog. Haha I am playing since 2014 but that never happened. That is a new low for crappy EA!

    • Seen a couple of players say the Confirm Donut Spend was turned off. The games I checked it’s still turned on, but that’s Android and a Kindle, so perhaps it’s an iOS thing.
Worth a check to make sure it is set to On though.

      • Yes, I checked. It was and is turned on. This particular Gil deal ignores the confirmation. A VERY convenient bug for EA.

EA has started STEALING donuts from players. Very sad. I opened a ticket.

    • You’re blaming EA for your carelessness? It’s not like they tricked you into buying it!

  4. While I am glad our silly little game is still supported, and new material added, I am sad that the offerings are so p*** poor, most decos and crap. Alas!

    • So far the prizes have been 7 buildings, 3 tokens, 2 characters, 2 deccies and 1 deccies bundle. I’ve liked ’em, but I am easily pleased 😊

  5. After posting below, I realized that the red dragon as part of Gil’s deal does make a nice St David’s Day gift. (Obscure fact: St David’s Day is March 1st, this coming Wednesday, and is the national holiday of Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿)

    • An even more obscure fact is that there is a small town..on the outskirts of my tiny hometown of Madawaska…that is named St. David…way northern Maine. And I’m loving this event and the prizes….

  6. Shame the dragon is a decoration…so much fun to be had if it was walking or flying around.

  7. So I gather from the description that the Gil deal is an ‘expansion pack’ in name only, not a land expansion like Springfield Heights, the former Krustyland or the Northwest Passage- is this right?
Also, for anyone who purchased it already, what does the Dragon do? Roam around, stationary, fly when tapped? It might be worth it to me if it acted like the other Burns Dragon, Treestache, the Barfly ogres and Bullyvern where you can release them for 4 hours for a prize, otherwise they stay put with a small animation.

    • “Expansion pack” is a “Vaults and Vandals add-on”, not a game expansion.
I’ll have a post on the deal, probably Wednesday.
Had to type out the dialog, one of the few things I don’t have in my notes.
It ain’t small, rears up, roars and spits fire

  8. I bought the Gil deal. Disappointed cuz the dragon doesn’t fly. He just sits there & spits fire. Dumb!!

  9. Thanks for the info!! 🙂

  10. I make freemium donuts out the wazoo so I really have nothing to complain about, but wow that Gil deal this round is l-a-m-e lame. I would definitely not recommend this one for anyone to buy unless you have more donuts that you can use.

  11. Laverda Negentien

The Gil Deal didn’t trigger in my game. Anyone else having this problem?

    • Pop to the Friends Towns bit and back should remind the game to start it if it hasn’t already – happens to me once in a while
