Got a game specific question about The Simpsons Tapped out?  Post your question below and we’ll do our best to answer it as soon as possible.  Don’t want to wait?   We’ve aimed to answer many of the most common questions already, so check out the search box or start browsing the site to see if your question has already been answered.

Please Note: This is not an EA run website, so while we will do our best to answer any questions you may have we may not always to able to “solve the problem”. If you’re having a major problem with your game your best bet is to always reach out to EA Customer Support.  You can find their contact information, as well as other TSTO Resources, here.

Here are a few Tapped Out FAQ’s to get you started:
These are just a few of the FAQ’s I’ve noticed come up a lot with TSTO, and some that are just fun facts to know.

How many characters have been introduced in TSTO to date?

As of Level 32/Krustyland Expansion there are 80 Characters that have been introduced to the game at some point, either as a limited time character or a permanent addition. These include characters that have no tasks and only walk around.

As of 3/14/19 there are 403 playable characters (not including skins) and 144 NPCs.

When I visit my friend’s town why are some of their characters dressed differently than mine?

From time to time EA will introduce a costume for a character, already in the game, that will open up a whole new quest line for that character. Sometimes these costumes come out with a big event (like Christmas and Halloween) and other times they’re introduced as part of a promotion for an upcoming episode of the Simpsons.
As of Level 32 there are 15 total costumes that have been introduced. Out of that 15 only 2 of them are permanent additions (McBain & Kamp Bart), and they both cost donuts to unlock.

What about Chief Wiggum? Doesn’t he have a costume? Sometimes I see him walking around my neighbors Springfield in a dress.

Chief Wiggum does not have a costume, however if you send him on his 24 hour task (Go on a Stakeout) he will walk around Springfield in a dress and blue wig.

How many buildings have been introduced in TSTO to date?

As of level 32 (not including Krustyland) there have been 98 buildings released, between permanent additions, limited-time, and premium.

Do all of the buildings earn money?

No. While almost all of the buildings earn money there are a handful of buildings that do not earn money but have other tasks. Cletus’s Farm does not earn money as the other buildings do instead it earns money through growing crops, Channel 6 earns money through news broadcasts and Open Air Stage earns money through characters performing. While Springfield Downs earns money through betting on the Dog Races.
Town Hall, Moe’s Tavern, Springfield Elementary & the Police Station do not earn money. However, your neighbors can vandalize those buildings with spray paint while visiting and you earn money from cleaning up the spray paint.
Finally, Springfield Retirement Castle is the one building that does not earn money, has no tasks to earn money, and cannot be vandalized. However, it’s a building you must purchase in order to get Grandpa Simpson.

How large can I expand my Springfield to?

Including the water and shoreline Springfield is 18×18.
Krustyland is a 10×10 square.

How much would it cost to purchase all the available land in Springfield?

To purchase all of the land in Springfield, 326 squares, it would cost $44,992,890 game dollars.
To purchase all of the land in Krustyland, 100 squares, it would cost 469,000 tickets.

Where can I find a map of all the available land in Springfield?

  4. Uh although I’m level 60 why don’t the quests automatically unlock? For example, the quest for the Springfield General Hospital is still not unlocked for me, and I’m almost done with all the quests. My story quests are (I think) True Bromance pt.1 and The End of the Beginning pt.21. I unlocked all the donut purchases, however not the others, like the hospital, quimby compund. etc etc. Any help pls?

    • You can change the look of the mountain by tapping on it. Try tapping on it and see if you see the option for Homer with Lisa. Sometimes it resets itself

  15. The first town you tap (and the first tap in that town) is what sets the time. So, what I often do is tap Other Springfield (just because it’s on the initial neighbor’s screen) on the morning, when I’m doing my first round of collections and task settings, to, essentially, “stop the clock.” Once I’ve done that, I can get around to doing the rest of my neighbors whenever I have the time (for the next 23+ hours).

    Make sense? 🙂

  16. I have been wondering for some time now, what determines the 24 hour turnaround for visiting friend’s towns?
Is it based on the first town, our “Other Springfield?”
With our current event I have been visiting once all my friends, in the hopes to collect the most anomaly’s possible,
Then I proceed to revisit friends from the beginning, to completion.
Then I sit and wonder did my time clock start at the very first town I visited, or the beginning; our “Other Springfield.”
Thanks in advance for your reply, it would be so nice to know. 🙂
And thanks to you all who spend so much time posting and answering!!! You guys are really awesome and appreciated!!!

  22. Hey Everybody,

I’m relatively new to all this!

So about four years ago I downloaded tapped out, played it quite a lot. I can’t quite remember what level I’ve got to but I stopped playing yet kept the app on my iPad.

Fast forward to a week ago and I launch the app and my whole town is suddenly enormous! I have over $1.7 Billion (yes, billion) and loads of buildings and characters which I definitely didn’t have before.

Has anybody got any ideas as to why this has happened?

    Thanks, Matt

  23. What’s the current best tactic for leveling up? KwikEMarts? Bloodmobiles? I’ve got about $50million sitting around and my Homerlayas need some upgrading.

    Like

    • It depends on who you ask. If you have time and patience KwikEMarts are the cheapest (if you stop before the price gets too high). But Bloodmobiles are the fastest…

  25. Personally, I think neighbors help quite a bit! They’ll get you at least 180 of the event currency, which isn’t too shabby, and more if you get anomalies. I *think* they also yield robot parts – I’m not sure of that, but I’m pretty sure at least the anomalies do. Do I think it’s impossible to complete the prize track without them? No. But I do think they make it easier.

One possible suggestion to help with the crashing… You might want to get some low-level players as neighbors, because their towns will be smaller and have less in them, and therefore be less likely to cause crashing.

  26. I reached lv 60 last week. A week ago I decided to start adding friends for the first time (I really wanted president Lisa). All I want to do is tap and move to next friend. I have 53 ish neighbors. Why does it take 2 1/2 to 3 hours for me to tap and move on? This is how long it took me on my day off. Sometimes I have to tap the same neighbor 3 times before it sticks. I have a job and I can’t tap on the job. I would love to tap my friends daily but this is impossible. I’m lucky if I can at least finish half the list in a 24 hour period. I’m not able to meet my goals. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Hoping that that would fix it, but no luck so for. If I’m lucky, and I mean real lucky, I can tap 3 maybe 4 neighbors before the app closes. I have app installed on a kindle. I only have 1 other game installed, that I need to uninstall because this is the only game I play anymore, mostly cause it keeps closing on me. I thought by adding friends it would help me to reach my goal of getting president Lisa. I can see now that that’s not working I still over 6000 left to go. I have to go to work but even if I was off I still wouldn’t make it. 😦 Can you make any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?

    • At least in my experience…the key to “success” really has little to do with neighbors and everything to do with being able to log in and clear whatever challenge is waiting every 4 hours during the day. They are timed that way. I actually set my iPhone alarm. It usually takes about 2 minutes top to do what is required and I reset for another 4 hours. I really don’t bother with the neighbors unless forced (like finding the anomaly) because the game has been so buggy visiting neighbors of late. I have found that I stay just ahead of the calendar, even when I miss part of a day. Doing the daily task is important, because there are a fair share of “bonus” rewards there.

Otherwise…I am fine either way, because I simply am not driven to “get it all” on every update. It’s just stuff…clutter…and very few of the “must haves” end up being important or favorites after a week or more. Case in point…Les Dobner.

    • AUDREESNOW- As an addendum to Sandra’s comment, I would suggest ‘hiding’ any neighbours who have their monorails running during events. It can take forever for those towns to load up and they tend to crash during events too. This has helped me enormously….💜X

I have a question on a current daily challenge. I can’t complete it. It’s win SciFighter without sustaining damage. I have done this several times, but it won’t register I won without damage. Any ideas?

I had stopped visiting Krustyland but have decided to start again. If I blow up Krustyland and then replace items in order will the storyline come back. Somehow i must have not have complete all the tasks because I can’t get the Princess and the Pea to start. I have left something out. Help.

    • You don’t have to do it in order… Storing the buildings and then placing them should help you figure out what you missed. Chances are there is another character required…but storage will help.
