TSTO Anonymous: Completionist Anonymous Edition

Hey hey hey.  Welcome to another meeting of TSTO Anon.  So… a lot of TSTO has happened to most of us in the last few months, right?  Stonecutters, Level 42, 4th of July, a Yard Sale and Level 43.  Lots of new stuff, both premium and freemium, with a lot of different designs, quests, buying decisions, etc.  Our last TSTO Anon meeting was way back in May 9th as the Easter Event frustration was nearing its zenith.  Seems like years since then, eh?

Of course, Stonecutters came and despite a few glitches, tappers were happier than I’ve seen them in a long time.  Despite this, all the required tapping would have been the perfect time for another meeting but who had time for that?  Admittedly that meeting would’ve been “Hey guys!  Having a blast!  You too?  Great!  Back to spying…”

Stonecutters ended and I had every intention of throwing a group gathering to discuss TSTO and addiction (even saw some comments in that vein) but life and tapping and blogging have a way of just keeping you busy as time and events pass on by.  Before you know it, it’s the beginning of August and it truly is time for a meeting of the Addicts.  Apologies for the delay but without further words, let’s get started with this one.

Last Minute Holiday Shopping: Christmas Buying Guide

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers,

Well Christmas is almost over in Springfield (it’s about time right?!). Once it’s gone tomorrow (January 14th), the option to buy many of the Christmas décor will be gone! Poof just like that! The Grumple will steal them away and they’ll disappear into the night never to be able to be purchased again…unless of course EA decides to bring them back next year for Christmas.

Should I Spend Donuts on Candy Kevin?

Christmas has arrived in Springfield!  But, with all of the new Christmas premium items that are limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can. But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Candy Kevin to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this guy to your Springfield.

Tapped_Out_Candy_KevinCharacter: Candy Kevin
Donut Price: 40 donuts

Pros:
-Reasonably priced.  At 40 donuts he’s 5 donuts less than the K9 Officer.
-Festive Character for your town

Cons:
-Despite being a character in Tapped Out Candy Kevin does not come with any tasks, so he is a Non-Playable Character
-No Questline
-After Christmas there really is no point to have him roaming around your Springfield (like the Zombies at Halloween)

Final Thought:
Personally I think you’re better off saving your donuts and passing on this one.  Candy Kevin really provides no benefit to your Springfield and aside from the entertainment value of a man dressed around as a giant Candy Cane, it really has no return for your invested donuts.  So, unless you’ve already purchased all of the other premium characters or you’re a completest, I’d pass on this one and save your donuts.
Just remember whatever you decide this is a LIMITED-TIME character and once it’s gone, it’s gone…so be sure to get it before the event is over if you’re thinking about it.

Should I Spend Donuts on the Trashcan Fire?

Christmas has arrived in Springfield!  But, with all of the new Christmas premium items that are limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can. But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Trashcan Fire to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this decoration to your Springfield.

Tapped_Out_Festive_Trash_Can_Fire
Decoration: Festive Trashcan Fire
Donut Price: 3 Donuts
Conform-O-Meter: +400 Vanity
Unique: No

Final Thought:
At 3 donuts the Festive Trashcan Fire is one of the cheapest premium items you can purchase.  However, unless you think it’s something that you absolutely need to complete a certain look in your town, this is something I would pass on.  There really is no great benefit to adding it to your Springfield.

Just remember whatever you decide this is a LIMITED-TIME item and once it’s gone, it’s gone…so be sure to get it before the event is over if you’re thinking about it.

Should I Spend Donuts on the Reindeer?

Christmas has arrived in Springfield!  But, with all of the new Christmas premium items that are limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can. But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Reindeer to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this decoration to your Springfield.

Reindeer
Decoration: Reindeer
Donut Price: 20 donuts
Conform-O-Meter: +200 Vanity
Unique: No
Bonus: 0.50%
Bonus % Per Donut Spent: 0.025%

Final Thought:
The Reindeer can be a fun little addition to your Springfield (and Christmas Village).  They do pay out a bonus percentage (although not the greatest in the world) and offer a conform-o-meter boost to your Vanity rating.  This is something I did purchase myself, I like the addition to my game. (Don’t forget, if you log into your game Christmas Day…you will get one for free.)

Just remember whatever you decide this is a LIMITED-TIME item and once it’s gone, it’s gone…so be sure to get it before the event is over if you’re thinking about it.

Should I Spend Donuts on Holiday Tree?

Christmas has arrived in Springfield!  But, with all of the new Christmas premium items that are limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can. But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Holiday Tree to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this decoration to your Springfield.

Holiday_Tree
Building/Decoration: Holiday Tree
Donut Price: 75 Donuts (of free in Gift Card Personal Prizes)
Conform-O-Meter: +200 Vanity
Unique: No

Pros:
-Earns you extra gift cards, Earns 75 Gift Cards & 45XP every 24hrs. After Christmas will turn to cash.
-Nice Holiday Decoration to your town
-Will earn you Vanity points in your Conform-O-Meter.

Cons:
-It comes free as a personal prize
-After Christmas it’s a bit out of place
-No Conform-O-Meter Bonus % payout
-Adds vanity points, but that’s currently the easiest to max out

Final Thought:
Save your donuts on this one!  You’ll unlock it for free as a personal prize (fairly early in the Gift Card collecting too).  So unless you think you want/need more than 1 Holiday tree in your town save your donuts for something else.
Just remember whatever you decide this is a LIMITED-TIME item and once it’s gone, it’s gone…so be sure to get it before the event is over if you’re thinking about it.

Should I Spend Donuts on Santa Village?

Christmas has arrived in Springfield!  But, with all of the new Christmas premium items that are limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can. But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Santa Village to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this village to your Springfield.

800px-Santa's_Village_Tapped_OutCharacter & Building: Santa Village & Homer Santa Skin
Donut Price: 200 Donuts (ouch!)

Pros:
-Comes with Santa Homer, another skin for Homer, and earns a premium rate on all his tasks
-The Village will earn you $300 & 30xp every 24hours
-Many great outside tasks, including Homer Flying Santa’s Sleigh around your town (ala Arnie Pye & his helicopter)
-Makes a great addition to a Christmas area in your Springfield, along with Claus Co, Santa’s Workshop etc.
-Homer is Santa!

Cons:
-Although the Santa Village originally unlocked a quest for Homer Santa (last Christmas) this time around there are no additional quests with the Village.
-A costly premium item.  At 200 donuts it’s the most expensive premium addition to this year’s update (and one of the most expensive in the game).
-Only Homer Santa has interaction with the Santa Village, and it’s only 1 task.  No other characters interact with it.
-No Animation
-No conform-o-meter points for it

Final Thought:
Personally I purchased the Santa Village.  It was something I wished I had from last year, but never got.  I enjoy the Santa Homer tasks.  It’s a great fit with Christmas town, but it is an expensive addition.  For something that offers no real practicality for your Springfield it may be something you want o pass on, at those prices!
Just remember whatever you decide this is a LIMITED-TIME item and once it’s gone, it’s gone…so be sure to get it before the event is over if you’re thinking about it.

Santa Homer’s Tasks:

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers,

What’s Up with the Premium Gremlins?

ico_thoh_stor_gremlins_03 (1)   ico_thoh_stor_gremlins_20
So if you’ve explored your new premium options in the game you’ll see two Gremlin options you can purchase for donuts. For two donuts you can purchase a trio of Gremlins and for 10 donuts you can buy 20 Gremlins.

Curious about these? Well it’s pretty simple really. They’re just extra Gremlins you can purchase to drop in your friend’s towns. Yes, that’s right you can purchase Gremlins for donuts to drop them in your friend’s towns to earn GOO…the same Gremlins you can get for free just for tapping Ghosts & haunting buildings (haunted buildings too).

There is absolutely no added bonus to using these Gremlins vs. the free ones.

My opinion?
Save your donuts for something that can/will provide you with bonuses and/or conform-o-meter points. In the long run that’s the better investment!
