Where Did THAT Come From – Springfield Opera House

Advertisements

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

Not to be confused with the real life Springfield Opera House in Kentucky, USA. this post I will be going over the Springfield Opera House which was introduced into our games with Springfield Heights Part Deux as a premium item for 150 donuts.  But what does it have opera have to do with our silly lil event? People actually like opera let alone understand foreign languages? Isn’t it all about fat ladies singing and then it’s over? Let’s take a look at the TV Series to find out.

Lol… one of the best things ever is when EA brings something you actually already talked about. During the 2015 Terwilleger Event, we got the Outdoor Opera Stage and I guess EA decided we needed more in our towns or liked the image I showed in my WDTCF post about opera in The Simpsons.  ANywho… less work for me so no worries.  WIthout further ado, here’s what I said if you didn’t get a chance to read the first one.

“The Homer of Seville” (S19:E2)

Homer crashes a funeral, sprains his back serving as a pallbearer, and his usual annoyed grunt (aka d’oh) becomes a beautiful operatic tenor. (Man I love writing sentences as silly as that.)  In fairness, when Homer lays flat on his back and his stomach lodges perfectly behind his diaphragm, he sings well. Homer’s new amazing voice lands him a gig as an opera singer. But where to sing operatically in Springfield? The Springfield Opera House of course.

So know you know why there’s an ad for Homer on the new premium building.  Of course, the Springfield Opera House is also mentioned in “Bart the Genius” (S1:E2).  We don’t get to see the outside… guess it took the writers eighteen seasons to decide Springfield emulated the Sydney (P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney) Opera House but that’s where Homer and Marge take Bart when they think he’s smart and needs to experience culture.

I just love Bart’s operatic genius:

“Toreador-ah, don’t spit on the floor-ah
Please use a cuspidor-ah
That’s what it’s for-ah.”

Of course… some may not recognize a Carmen tribute, know Finding Nemo or know of what is probably the most famous Australian piece of architecture so here’s an image of the building this new item obviously parodies/pays tribute to/plagiarizes.

If you bought it, seems appropriate to place it between a Krusty Burger and Moe’s if you’re so inclined.  You could also do an Aussie tribute with water and bridges and a cityscape. Designing is what the game is all about, right? We now have three possible opera venues in our games.  Bonus points if you know all three. That’s really about it for this origin post.  A new premium that I admit I immediately snatched up.  What are your thoughts?  Did you buy it? Where’d you put it?  Sound off in the comments and keep on being classy.

TTFN… Wookiee out!
