Friday Filler – Time Management, KEM Farming and “Springfield Jobs” Tips

So…here we are again looking at a “grind-fest” for  the next 7 weeks.  There are a variety of ways to look at it…and yes, my initial reaction is “WTF????” (Why the Face?) EA??? And then, as I look at all of the stuff you can earn, and knowing that after succumbing to Safi’s version of “Casual KEM Farming,” I find myself not being nearly as stressed.  The fact is…when you play on “House Money,” you don’t freak out if you “lose.”  And KEM farming is definitely “house money.”

Yes. I have argued that the investment of time just isn’t worth the grind to do KEM farming super proficiently. And the fact is, I am still on the fence over a couple of the issues one faces when trying to become a “SUPER FARMER.”  But, as you will see…if you want to get more than enough Bonuts to get the stuff you want, over the course of even 7 weeks…EA has made it pretty easy, because THEY have set the grind…but, WE get to set the “how much of a grind.”

Let’s take a look at maximizing your time…and answering the question, “How do I have a life and get it all????”

Fine Arts Museum and Game Freezing

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just popping in with a quick note.  I’m seeing more and more comments come across about your game freezing when you unlock the Fine Arts Museum (first prize of Act 1) in Springfield.

A couple of tips to try first…..

-Make sure you have enough land open to place the museum in Springfield.  When you unlock it it’s searching for a plot of land to be placed on, if you don’t have one available the search won’t stop.

-Wait when you unlock it.  The game may seem frozen but give 30 seconds to a minute (in some cases longer).  My game appeared frozen for about 30 seconds but then it allowed me to place it.

-If it is, in fact, frozen, try a hard close and restart and wait again.

If those steps don’t help Contact EA.

Thanks guys!  Hope those tips help out!

Springfield Jobs – Act One Calendar and Numbers to Get It All!

I’m not going to lie…(and you shouldn’t trust anyone who starts by saying that…as it implies that they lie all of the time, and this is an exception…like politicians who start off something with”trust me…”)…I already hate this event.

Why? Because they have ignored the two most requested aspects for improving the game.  First, we asked that they “Make the Events Shorter.”  Their answer?  This is one of the longest…if not THE longest events in TSTO history. It will run a full 48 days…and the acts have now expanded to 16.5 days…which for all practical purposes, should be 17.

The other thing most of our readers asked for, was reducing or eliminating the crafting in these events. What did they do? Expanded it.

But…here we are…a bunch of addicts who are going to play the update, whether we say we won’t or not. We will grit our teeth for expanded/extended grinding…and see if we can outlast EA.  There are LOADS of new items…without actually increasing the item limit enough for most of the longtime players to add them without “device issues.”  But…that would make THREE gripes in one post…so I will refrain.

Instead…I will simply offer up the calendar(s) so you can stay on pace to GET IT ALL!!

The Springfield Job Is Live!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s 10AM here on the East Coast of the US and (aside from getting hit with our 4th major storm in less than a month) that means it’s time for the next event to start up in TSTO!  If you haven’t already done so yesterday (or earlier this morning), be sure to download the newest update for Tapped Out from your App Store.  If you don’t see it in your updates list, search your store for Tapped Out and you should see the update available.

This update is going to be FULL of characters (I count 18 brand new ones), loads of buildings, decorations and a whole lot of around the world fun!  Those of you who were looking for items from England…you’re in luck!  They’ll be in this update!  Along with content from Mexico, Cuba, Italy, Ireland and more! This is a huge update with a ton of content!  So let’s get to it! (Things kick off with a 6s task for Homer)

I’ll be updating this post as I go through the update myself.  So while I did see the files last night and have a basic understanding of what’s in it, I won’t know specifics until I actually look at it in game.  So for now, use this post as an Open Thread to discuss what you see and continue to check back on this post for all of the Springfield Jobs details for Act 1….

Springfield Jobs Update

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Those of you on iOS may have noticed you got an update today for the next TSTO Event, Springfield Jobs.  (Android, from what I can tell, hasn’t hit yet…It’s now on Android, same details apply.  Nothing will actually happen in game until tomorrow) While you’ve gotten the update NOTHING is different in Springfield.  Why?  Why can’t you start the new event?! Why?! WHY?! WHYYYYYYY!?

Well, EA is doing something a little different this time around.  Maybe to combat those who get the update a day late, maybe for other reasons… But this update won’t officially start (i.e. you won’t see changes in YOUR game, even if you’ve downloaded the update) until TOMORROW March 21st at 10am ET (1400 GMT).

So don’t panic!  The new event will be live before you know it.  For now, just relax and check out this awesome new Splash Screen! Shoutout to Super Safi for sending it over to me, as my Android doesn’t have the update just yet…

I’ll be back tomorrow once the update goes live with the rundown.  So don’t panic if you don’t see our usual 6:30am (ET) post on the site…I’ll have all the content ready to go once the event actually launches.

Feel free to use this post as an Open Thread to speculate…but remember this is still a Spoiler Free site.

P.S. Here’s the current app store description (thanks again to Super Safi)

Homer vs 18th Amendment Prize Breakdown: Duff Float & Howard K. Duff “Give Out Samples” Animation

Aloha Amazing, Awesome, Aspiring Alcoholics and Ale Addicts,

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “A”)

The Eighteenth Amendment (Amendment XVIII) of the United States Constitution effectively established the prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the United States by declaring the production, transport, and sale of alcohol (though not the consumption or private possession) illegal. The separate Volstead Act set down methods for enforcing the Eighteenth Amendment, and defined which “intoxicating liquors” were prohibited, and which were excluded from prohibition (e.g., for medical and religious purposes). President Woodrow Wilson vetoed the bill, but the House of Representatives overrode the veto, and the Senate did so as well the next day. The Volstead Act set the starting date for nationwide prohibition for January 17, 1920, which was the earliest day allowed by the Eighteenth Amendment. The Amendment was in effect for the following 13 years. It was repealed in 1933 by ratification of the Twenty-First Amendment on December 5, 1933.

That’s enough of a history lesson!

Remember, this event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes.  For each of the parts of the Pass, Puff, Puff questlineyou’ll have to earn  via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part.

Let’s take a look at the details of the sixth and final prize, the Duff Float and Howard K. Duff “Give Out Samples” Animation. What it does and how you unlock it…
