Where Did THAT Come From – The Scoutmaster

Faster than an event speeding donut spender! More powerful than a local Addict! Able to leap long comment threads in a single bound! Look! Up in the TSTO-niverse! It’s a building! It’s a decoration! It’s Superheroes 2016!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

So unless you’ve been locked away in Lucite, by now you probably realize a new event has splashed all over the screens of our beloved game. Lots of new stuff and that means I have one heck of a job to do letting you know where all the new “super” things come from. Origin stories are sort of the bread and butter of any comic book story worth its proverbial weight in Booster Gold, so I’m back at my usual antics again. For this issue of WDTCF, we’ll be looking at The Scoutmaster, a premium offering during Issue 3 for 100 Donuts.

“Radioactive Man” (S7:E2)

Most of us know this episode as the Springfield hosts the Radioactive Man movie and ultimately gouges the filmmakers to the point where they have to return to Hollywood empty-handed. You know, Hollywood, the land of dreams where everyone is friendly and kind.

Jeesh… I can remember seeing this as a kiddo (fifteen) and laughing at the silliness of Hollywood at the end of the movie. At least they tried.  Of all the things in the Best. Show. Ever., I love when they take digs at my home state. Lampponing things is just one of the amazing things this show does. Early in this episode, we see the filmmakers meeting about the movie when Comic Book Guy reaches out to nerd.alt.obsessive. for info about who will be playing Radioactive Man.  Their whole goal for the movie is to make sure it’s not like the campy 1970s television show plus they can’t use Dirk Richter because “he’s 73-years-old and he’s dead.”

I love this clip in part because I love the old Batman TV show.  Also, the villain is great… The Scoutmaster.  “Billowing backpacks!”

Fallout Boy describes him as “the worst villain of them all.”

An obvious tribute to the late, great Paul Lynde (you may remember him from such amazing performances as Uncle Arthur on Bewitched, Templeton Rat in Charlotte’s Web or from Hollywood Squares), this villain is great!

The Scoutmaster has henchman that dress up as Boy Scouts who square off against Radioactive Man and Fallout Boy. “Don’t be afraid to use your nails boys.”

I love all the fight word screens during the brawl especially Bort.

RM and FB beat the bad guys but then a bunch of female go go dancers show up so the whole group can break out into a groovy dance number.

This whole thing is just so great.  I’m so thrilled that EA decided to bring this character into the Superheroes Sequel.  Anyone else love the Adam West Batman TV series? What are your thoughts? Did you earn him yet? Sound off in the comments and keep on being classy.

TTFN… Wookiee out!
