Where Did THAT Come From – King Winter

Hey there holiday tappers! Howzit? So TSTO is officially in White Christmas mode and the snow is a’falling. I don’t know about you but I love my town covered in snow. As a Southern California resident, I like the snow I can oooh and aaah over without being cold or shoveling it. Of course with a brand new event comes brand new stuff to chat about. My favorite part is of course re-watching Simpsons episodes and then sharing with you just where THAT comes from. For this edition, let’s take a look at King Winter.

For 175 donuts, this new premium character can join the holiday festivities of your town. He comes along with his Ice Cave and is a tasked character. But what the heck does he have to do with the Best. Show. Ever.? Well my friends, he actually was in the Season 25 Christmas episode. Let’s take a glance at “White Christmas Blues” (S25:E8).

Bunny wrote an entire episode recap  for this episode so I’ll spare you from more words. The Simpsons have turned their home into a boarding house but the egg nog is terrible, the stockings aren’t hung by the chimney with care and the Christmas special on the television is one of the worst. What special you ask? Well, “King Winter Feasts on His Children”.

“By the time Princess Summer comes to save you, you’ll all be blood in my beard. Your own father’s beard!”

And that’s it… a quick little blip. Frankly I’m surprised they made him a complete character and not a NPC.  Here’s what his game tasks are:

King Winter’s Tasks
Go on a Date 60 min Inside Gilded Truffle req. Miss Hoover $175 43 XP
Get Dating Tips 4 hrs Inside Simpsons House $260 70 XP
Lure Prey with a Hot Chocolate 8 hrs Inside King Winter’s Cave $420 105 XP
Search For Dinner 12 hrs Outside N/A $600 150 XP
Gnaw on Baby Back Ribs 24 hrs Outside N/A $1,000 205 XP

I just gotta say as one of the bearded men of the world, I don’t condone his eating of the children but apparently at least one EA programmer is a fan. Either that or this is a tribute to a great Holiday special. Anyone else think King Winter looks like the Snow Miser from The Year Without a Santa Claus?  It can’t be coincidence that both of the Miser brothers were also in the opening sequence albeit technically Patty & Selma as the Miser Sisters.

Well my friends, I hope you’re having a blast with this event. I’m back into the snow because Wookiees look great in the snow. If you don’t believe me, just re-watch Empire Strikes Back for all the Hoth goodness. Y’all stay classy and all that good junk.

TTFN… Wookiee out!
