Terwilliger Guide to Crafting: Act One Crafting

Advertisements

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Terwilliger time in TSTO!  Yes, the Terwilliger’s are back (well at least Cecil so far) and they’re set on making not only the Simpson’s lives a nightmare, but ours as well!  Mutant Veggies, upgrades and CRAFTING!  Ahhh!

I know many of you are panicking about crafting and just how you’ll earn enough Fertilizer and Corn to get everything.  Well don’t worry, we’re here to break it all down for you.  And I promise, it’s not as much of a nightmare as you might think it is.  Just pace yourself, and remember it won’t happen overnight.

So now let’s breakdown all the fun of Crafting during Act 1…shall we?

First, let’s start with some basics…

How Do I View the Crafting Menu?

You can view the Crafting Menu by bringing up your Event Hub.  Remember the Event Hub can be accessed by tapping on the Sideshow Bob Trophy in the bottom right corner with the knives in it…looks like this:

Once you bring up the Event Hub you’ll want to find the icon on the left with the laboratory beaker.  Looks like this:

This will show you the Crafting Menu.  Here’s how it will look in the Event Hub:

How Can I See My Current Fertilizer and Corn Counts?

Event Hub.  The top right of the Hub will show you  your current Fertilizer and Corn Counts…

Ok so now that we’ve covered the basics…let’s cover a little more of what you guys are wanting to know….

How Long Do I Have To Craft These Items, Will They Disappear When Act 2 Starts?

The simple answer is…no they will not disappear when Act 2 starts.  Here are a few clues as to why we think this…the Crafting Menu shows that New prizes will be added, it says nothing about prizes ending.   Additionally, look at past Events where crafting was involved (Halloween/Superheros) you’ve had a long time to craft.

So don’t stress so much about how long it’s going to take you to craft an item, they’re meant to be long term goals…not something that will happen overnight.  So pace yourself and play at your speed.

What About the Farmer’s Market Quest, Do I Need to Finish That to Move On?

The Farmer’s Market quest (represented by a spotlight in your task book, ) is a Side Quest and not required to move onto Act 2.  It’s a long term goal, meant to remind you about crafting, but you do not have to complete it to move on.

It’s Hard Seeing My Fertilizer and Corn go to Upgrading, Should I Upgrade Monsarno or Focus on Crafting?

Focus on Upgrading.  Once you reach Level 7 you’ll max out upgrading for Act 1, and then you can start to focus on earning Corn and Fertilizer for Crafting.  The reason you’ll want to Upgrade to Level 7 is with each new level you’ll unlock more characters that can earn Corn and Fertilizer.  We have a full breakdown on this here. (including character tasks and how much they earn) .

Note: there is a glitch going around with upgrading.  It’s not a critical glitch and it won’t stop game play, BUT once you’ve Upgraded to Level 7 and earned more Corn/Fertilizer you may see the upgrade Icon over Monsarno Research… .  BUT you cannot Level Up past Level 7 until Act 2 starts, so if you see this Icon and you’re already at Level 7 just ignore it.  It won’t impact your game, it’ll just drive you crazy.

When Does Act 2 Start?

Act 2 starts April 28th.

It Costs So Much Fertilizer and Corn to Get the Farmer’s Market, How Can I Earn More?

Yes, crafting the Farmer’s Market seems daunting.  It may feel like you’ll never get there, but remember it’s a long term goal.  You won’t get there overnight (unless you use donuts), so it’s important to pace yourself.

Currently there are only 4 ways to earn Corn & Fertilizer.  Sending characters on tasks to earn it, clearing Mutant Vegetables in your town, Completing Cecil’s Daily Tasks & Sending/tapping Mutant Seedlings.  So if you’re looking for tips to earn more…there really aren’t any.  Just keep sending as many characters as you can out on Fertilizer and Corn tasks.

My strategy…I pick the shortest task times for each Character.  And go into my game as frequently as I can (usually between 2-4hrs) to clear/reassign tasks.  Once you’ve upgraded to Level 7 here are the tasks and what they’ll earn you:

Character Set/Task Task Length Earns Lvls 1-6 Earns Lvls 7+
Dimwits for Fertilizer 8hr 14
Gluttons For Corn 16hr
Pessimists for Fertilizer 4hrs
Youngsters for Corn 8hrs
Seniors for Fertilizer 2hrs
Criminals for Corn 4hrs

For character lists check out this post.

The best advice is to just keep sending characters on tasks frequently.  And the reason I pick the short tasks?  Well just take a look…Agnes Skinner is both a Pessimist and a Senior.  Well if I send her on the Senior Task every 2hrs I’ll earn 10 Fertilizer/4hrs.  Versus sending her on the Pessimist task every 4hrs, where i’d only earn 8 Fertilizer/4hrs.  So I earn 2 more fertilizer/4hrs by sending her on the Senior task and clearing it every 2hrs, than sending her on the Pessimist task every 4hrs.  Make sense?

So now that more of your common Crafting questions have been answered….let’s take a look at what you can actually craft and the details.

Crafting Item Breakdown

For Act One there are 3 items to craft initially and 2 more added as you level up Monsarno.  Let’s take a look at each item and how it will impact your Springfield..

Item: Cane Field
Cost:
4,500   1,400
Size:
3×3
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Tree-Hugging +10
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, Should be at the same crafting rate
Benefit  in Springfield:
Decoration, no added benefit other than looks
Should I Craft?:
This is one I would say if you have an idea for where it should go, craft it.  But the Cane Field is better if crafted in multiples for certain looks.  I would hold off on crafting this until towards the end of the event.  Since you’ll need multiples.

 Item: Sani-John Smokehouse
Cost:
8,250   2,500
Size:
2×2
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +300
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, should be at same crafting rate
Benefit  in Springfield:
Just a decoration, no real benefit.
Should I Craft?:
Unless you REALLY want this item, or you have Fertilizer and Corn to burn at the end of the event, this one is a pass for me.  No benefit and doesn’t seem worth the Fertilizer/Corn.

Item: Springfield Farmer’s Market
Cost:
15,250   4,600
Size:
6×10
Build Time: 24hrs
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Consumerism +10
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, should be at same crafting rate.
Benefit  in Springfield:
Will earn you $75, 7xp/3hrs.  Plus impacts Consumerism, one of the hardest areas to max out.
Should I Craft?:
Yes, for the consumerism benefit alone.  This building is the only craftable building for Act 1 that’s actually worth the time and effort of grinding out Corn and Fertilizer.  I would aim for this one first after you’ve leveled up past Level 7 at Monsarno.

Item: Monsaro Cafeteria
Cost:
4,250   1,600
Size:
5×8
Build Time:
4hrs
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +10
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, Should be at same crafting rate.
Benefit in Springfield:
None.  It’s just a big decoration.  Will not earn you cash/xp, it’ll just sit there.
Should I Craft?:
No.  You’re awarded one for free once you level up Monsarno to Level 5.  And the free one should be plenty for your Springfield.  Don’t waste your Fertilizer/Corn on this one.

Item: Monsaro Chimp Resources
Cost:
4,250   1,600
Size:
8×5
Build Time:
4hrs
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +10
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, should be at same crafting Rate
Benefit  in Springfield: None.
It’s just a big decoration.  Will not earn you cash/xp, it’ll just sit there.
Should I Craft?:
No.  You’re awarded one for free once you level up Monsarno to Level 7.  And the free one should be plenty for your Springfield.  Don’t waste your Fertilizer/Corn on this one.

And that my friends covers all the details of crafting during Act 1!

Remember, crafting is meant to be a long term goal, so take your time.  Don’t feel like you need to craft everything overnight, because you won’t.  It’ll take some time to achieve all your crafting goals, so be patient.  And remember…don’t use donuts to rush crafting!  It’s just not worth it.  Save those sprinkles for something more important down the road.
