Where Did THAT Come From – She-She Lounge

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

Love is in the air in Springfield and this time it’s an affair for the older Sprinfieldianites… and Otto. You asked for some VD, I mean Valentine’s Day action (okay that doesn’t sound better), I mean an event themed to the sacrifices of a priest during the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius, okay, I don’t know what I mean. How about just saying we got another mini-event for a “holiday” and tappers got what they sort of asked for? As I suspected, a portion of this event is basically an episode tie-in for the upcoming Valentine’s Day episode, “Love Is in the N2-O2-Ar-CO2-Ne-He-CH4” (S27:E13) airing on February 14th. But not everything is new… some of the items come from previous episodes and that’s why I get to share with all of my favorite tappers here. For this origin, we’ll be taking a look at the She-She Lounge, available for 60 donuts in the 2016 Valentine’s Day Update. Let’s take a look at the TV Series to find it.

“Fear of Flying” (S6:E11)

Seems funny to be writing about this episode after writing a post about building an airport on the site. The Little Black Box comes from this very same episode. The whole premise of this one is that Marge is afraid to fly but before we discover that… Homer is banned from Moe’s Tavern after joining in on the barflies pranking. Moe getting bit by a cobra hidden in the cash register… hilarious. Barney catching Moe on fire by taking advantage of Moe’s alcohol-soaked clothes… priceless. Homer unscrewing the sugar jar causing it all to dump in Moe’s coffee… not cool. Sugar all over the bar is apparently taking it too far. Moe takes Homer’s caricature down from Mount Lushmore and removes his favorite song from the jukebox. Homer loves “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls.

Poor Homer has to find a new bar but he’s never one to shrink from a “crisitunity” (a perfectly cromulent word IMHO). Considering his taste in music, it’s surprising that one of the places he checks out is the She-She Lounge.

It’s a brief gag but seeing Homer in a lesbian bar is funny. Almost as funny as him going to the Cheers bar before it.  “Wait a minute. There’s something bothering me about this place. I know! This lesbian bar doesn’t have a fire exit! Enjoy your death trap ladies.”  “What was her problem?”

So there you go friends. A bar that was a quick blip in a funny episode. Definitely worth a watch for the aforementioned antics and I never shrink from the chance to see Guy Incognito.

Marge’s dad made an appearance in this episode too so maybe he’s in our futures? Heck, Mona has made a resurrection, so why not him (he did make an appearance as a ghost during the Halloween event and THOH episode)? I’m also wondering if the building’s fire code violation coud finally bring us the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department but I’m probably dreaming. What do you think of the bar? Did you buy it? Enjoy the mini-questline involved with it? Sound off in the comments and happy classy tapping my friends.
