In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?
Love is in the air in Springfield and this time it’s an affair for the older Sprinfieldianites… and Otto. You asked for some VD, I mean Valentine’s Day action (okay that doesn’t sound better), I mean an event themed to the sacrifices of a priest during the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius, okay, I don’t know what I mean. How about just saying we got another mini-event for a “holiday” and tappers got what they sort of asked for? As I suspected, a portion of this event is basically an episode tie-in for the upcoming Valentine’s Day episode, “Love Is in the N2-O2-Ar-CO2-Ne-He-CH4” (S27:E13) airing on February 14th. But not everything is new… some of the items come from previous episodes and that’s why I get to share with all of my favorite tappers here. For this origin, we’ll be taking a look at the She-She Lounge, available for 60 donuts in the 2016 Valentine’s Day Update. Let’s take a look at the TV Series to find it.
“Fear of Flying” (S6:E11)
Seems funny to be writing about this episode after writing a post about building an airport on the site. The Little Black Box comes from this very same episode. The whole premise of this one is that Marge is afraid to fly but before we discover that… Homer is banned from Moe’s Tavern after joining in on the barflies pranking. Moe getting bit by a cobra hidden in the cash register… hilarious. Barney catching Moe on fire by taking advantage of Moe’s alcohol-soaked clothes… priceless. Homer unscrewing the sugar jar causing it all to dump in Moe’s coffee… not cool. Sugar all over the bar is apparently taking it too far. Moe takes Homer’s caricature down from Mount Lushmore and removes his favorite song from the jukebox. Homer loves “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls.
Poor Homer has to find a new bar but he’s never one to shrink from a “crisitunity” (a perfectly cromulent word IMHO). Considering his taste in music, it’s surprising that one of the places he checks out is the She-She Lounge.
It’s a brief gag but seeing Homer in a lesbian bar is funny. Almost as funny as him going to the Cheers bar before it. “Wait a minute. There’s something bothering me about this place. I know! This lesbian bar doesn’t have a fire exit! Enjoy your death trap ladies.” “What was her problem?”
So there you go friends. A bar that was a quick blip in a funny episode. Definitely worth a watch for the aforementioned antics and I never shrink from the chance to see Guy Incognito.
Marge’s dad made an appearance in this episode too so maybe he’s in our futures? Heck, Mona has made a resurrection, so why not him (he did make an appearance as a ghost during the Halloween event and THOH episode)? I’m also wondering if the building’s fire code violation coud finally bring us the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department but I’m probably dreaming. What do you think of the bar? Did you buy it? Enjoy the mini-questline involved with it? Sound off in the comments and happy classy tapping my friends.
TTFN… Wookiee out!
I’d forgotten about Guy Incognito. Great part of that episode.
So, when do we get a Love Day event?
We sort of got one last year.
Dang, I wasn’t here for it. Worse still, I missed out on the old house pricing.
Man O Man!! This game has lasted Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Is it ever gonna end??
I sure hope NOT!!!
All Hail The Mighty Sprinkles!!!!
Let the Donuts keep on spinning!!
This game is far from over!!
Anyone else having trouble to get the game to load? It just started today on my kindle. The gracie films logo will appear then it will just go black, tried restarting my device, uninstalling and reinstalling the game but nope.
My kindle is working. I have the kindle fire 7 hdx
I’m glad I only read this & tapped out Topix…I’d be so stressed out wondering if my lil Springfield was all for nothing…..
There’s always the tin-foil hat players among us 😉
But seriously I honestly see the “game is ending” comments every year right around this time. People always panic with a break of short events after Christmas…
I for 1,enjoy the breaks in between events!,,,,I play so obsessively that I’ve been known to set alarms to play,,,,day & night. That’s why I really appreciate your blogs….to know that I am not alone & crazy….😀👥👽👍….OK,,maybe a little crazy!!
I set alarms too!
I also love the classy club:
“Would you please leave, now, without making a fuss?”
This update was a letdown. So the rumors are maybe true that there will be no new content soon?
What rumors? A couple of conspiracy theory TSTO players?
TSTO is one of EA’s highest grossing mobile app games. Do you really think they’ll just shut it down? We’ve had constant updates for months now…some good some bad (don’t believe me? http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/03/19/tapped-out-up-dates/). Just because this was a small event, because let’s be honest Valentine’s Day isn’t a HUGE holiday (and this is similar to what they did last year), doesn’t mean the game is doomed. This happens every year at this time. EA slows down a little bit because of the back to back to back events of the summer, halloween and christmas..and then the mini events in between…and people freak out.
Relax. Stop trying to read between the donuts.
Geez, with them just adding the daily quest thing, and the show not hinting of ending, I wouldn’t think it would be ending anytime soon. Even though it is up in the 1 Gb range of space on my phone.
There are no rumors. It’s people like you who propagate false “rumors”, and send people into a panic. SO STOP IT!
I think it’s totally fair to say that it seems like EA has been reworking and evolving the economics of the game. Freemium games are always trying to strike a balance to keep a game enjoyable (and revenue-generating) with old players and new players alike.
Personally, I’m a fan of their current structure for events. They have these multi-phase, several-weeks-long major events that give noobs time to play in Act 1 while they grind up to a level where more characters can be involved in the later Acts. Then they have these mini-events which allow other (higher-level and premium) characters into the storyline, but still let the noobs play with their smaller character base.
Of course, this is all continually evolving and being refined. EA has certainly shown that they’re responsive to player feedback (not just what we say in our comments on forums, but also based on our usage/play patterns in-game). They have also shown that they’re willing to experiment (cooperative v competitive rewards, releasing skins v characters, crafting, collection turnaround/frequency or just varying the importance/contribution of friend visits during events) to improve the game’s playability, popularity and (of course) its profitability.
So, does it seem like they’ve altered course a little recently? Yup. It’d be naive to expect them to stick to their same structure. But I don’t see how any of this means that there’s an end-of-life horizon on gameplay.
This is from one of the truly classic episodes. So much to love. Little Marge and her easy bake oven. Homer visiting all the different bars. So many hilarious quotes, I don’t know where to start!
Definitely one of my most often quoted, especially after a long, stressful night at work- “lemmee off, lemmee off, lemmee off, lemmee off, lemmee off, lemmee off, lemmee off, lemmee off…!!!”
Whenever the wind whistles through the leaves, I’ll think, Lowenstein, Lowenstein…
My name is Zwieg.
classic and a good addition to our games especially before June
This episode has my FAVORITE homer line Ever! “Aww. I can’t go to a Gay bar! 😦 I’m too faaat! 😟”. Cracked me up!
That line’s not in this episode.
Bugmenot, you’re right. Sorry. I looked it up. It’s from Season 16, episode 7–Mommy Beerest. It’s still my favorite line, though.
It reminds me of the great exchange in “Saturdays of Thunder”
Homer: (sobbing) “I’m a bad father!”
Patty: “You’re also fat.”
H: “I’m also faaaat!!!”
You’re thinking of “Mommie Beerest” (S16:E7)
