TSTO Anonymous: Positive Perspective

Advertisements

Sorry guys, something weird is going on with WordPress and it’s not posting things when I tell it to.  This was supposed to go up 3 hrs ago.  My apologies! -Alissa

Welcome back to another meeting of TSTO Anonymous. Courtesy of some TSTO downtime and an unexpected burst of motivation, I’m actually starting to hold meetings more frequently. You can find all of them here. While I can’t promise to always be so frequent holding these, when we don’t have a “meeting” you can always pop in to the popular Sunday Open Threads as fill-in sessions when I can’t think of topics or life/game stuff is too busy to hold one. Jebus knows you Addicts like to congregate there and chat about all sorts of stuff. Anyhoo… it’s time to fire up the simulated coffee pot, prop the door open with a lucky red hat, and get this meeting started. Pull up a chair, grab a Wookiee cookie, and let’s get this show on the road.

Hi… I’m Joe “The Wookiee” Riot and I’m a TSTO Addict.

So over the course of writing for the 2016 TSTO Superhero Sequel, I pulled a bunch of pictures. For the life of me, I couldn’t remember why I saved all of them or what I wanted to use them for other than the images making me happy, so instead of wasting them, I thought it might be fun to just put them in a semi-random order and then do a TSTO Anonymous meeting with all of them as the framework for some sort of random discussion. Wowza, that was one heck of a semi-grammatically correct run-on sentence. Maybe I should write a post about grammar? Nah… if we ever did that we’d let Alissa the Amazing English major do that lol. Suffice to say, this post is images that made me happy, or struck me as worth saving, and I figured it couldn’t hurt to share them with all my favorite readers.

Fair warning, I’m still not quite sure of the topic we’re going for here but let’s just go with happiness. As I told a small child the other night who was a bit of a negative nancy, life is all about perspective and things are only as good as you allow them to be. He thought I was lame. I said lame implies something couldn’t walk normally or was mentally feeble and I was neither of those things. While I might not have changed this grumpy gus’ mind, his parents laughed so I say mission accomplished. Maybe he was just mad since I told him his hat made him look Goofy?

The point is, I usually choose to be a positive force as much as I can. I strive to do this in all things including this game and writing about it. No question this can be a challenge and I am well aware of the frustrations that can result from slogging through a TSTO event for 41 days, but I enjoy having new content in a game that brings me joy. The Simpsons is something I love and this game satisfies a need to have them in my life as often as possible. Sure, all the new pixels in your game and possible donuts spent might leave some people with-a the buyer’s remorse but for any negative responses, I could probably spin something positive from it if I tried. I guess the key is trying to do just that. There’s no need to be lamentful like Bart when he didn’t get the part of Fallout Boy because he was short.

Maybe we’re all just tired and enjoying a break from gameplay (provided we already had all the monorail schtuff) but there’s no need to feel defeated by a game…

Lots of new things potentially were added to your towns. I love the addition of the Fossil Fuel Four. Maybe it’s those dastardly villains who are the reason we’re all so worn out? I know the felon fights weren’t everyone’s favorite. I mean losing to win? No wonder folks are worn out.

But now is the time to enjoy some down time. Did you read Robobot’s post about ideas for future events. I even got into the action with some ridiculous speculation. Downtime is good for creativity. Work on some town designs or pitch your own post ideas or update possibilities. We have a whole section devoted to Springfield Showoffs if you need to be inspired. The main thing is to just enjoy the game and the community. There’s no need to start Fight Clubs (uh oh… I broke Rule #1 and 2) or battle over whose town reigns supreme.

Do you think Batman would really win a fight againt Clark? Ever watch Smallville (my guilty pleasure for years)? Know what episode this comes from? The point is… we’re all tappers united by an addiciton to a silly mobile game and we all made it through another event. If that doesn’t make us super, what does?

I’m certainly an Everyman and I find myself contemplating what superpower I’d like to absorb. For some reason I always wanted to have powers like The Flash. Sure he’s a clean cut goody goody but I dig Barry. I probably became a fan as a slow chubby kid but I still dig this speedster. Are you a fan of the CW show? Hear about all the goodness coming in Season 3? What super power would you like to have? You can learn a lot about people with questions and that last one in particular is quite revealing. Do you often interact with other humans? Are you as mildly disconcerted as me by Homer’s cleavage in the above picture?

I find myself wondering if EA really plans on another Superhero Event in the future. Jebus knows there is plenty of stuff that could be added. Although I may do a post somewhere down the line highlighting a bunch of options, for now I’ll just share two that I really would like to see in the game.

Otto needs to be Busman yesterday and Homer as a webslinging farter just makes me giggle. Think of the possible opportunities for collusion with Spider Pig in a silly event. We could also get more comic book stores.

If you don’t believe me about all the stuff for a third Superheroes Sequel, all you have to do is read a few of the origin posts I wrote to see even more. I’m a big geek when it comes to funny books. This last event was obviously fun for me. Maybe the point of battling it out over six weeks was just to spark or rekindle a love for the stuff that inspired an event like this in the first place?

Do you have a favorite comic? Want to give a shout out to your local geek haberdashery? I’m looking at you Phat’s Collectibles of Anaheim. Crap… I really need to go pay for my pull list. Do you read comical booklets and if so, do you prefer physical copies or digital? DC or Marvel? Did this post even have a point? Before this was posted, the title was “I haven’t thought of a title yet” but Alissa named it Positive Persepctive based on a reading so let’s go with that. I honestly don’t know… I just enjoyed the fact that I didn’t have anything I HAD to write about so I was able to just ramble based on screenshots I liked. I guess I’ll let Radioactive Man sum up how I feel about the 2016 Superheroes Sequel ending.

I’m curious how many random questions I had in this post. I wonder if anyone will answer all of them? My final point to make  is that writing this made me happy and I’d challenge you to find the things in life that do the same for you. Sound off with your thoughts on any of this, happy tapping my friends, and as usual, we finish this meeting with the TSTO Anonymous Serenity Prayer.

“EA, grant me the serenity to accept the updates I cannot change, the courage to recommend the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

TTFN… Wookiee out!
