Homerpalooza 101: Crafting

Advertisements

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Ah the Crafting post….where I give you the how to and break down each and every item available to craft, so you don’t miss a thing!

Love it or hate it, EA has proven over the last couple of years that crafting is here to stay.  While the prizes themselves are pretty self-explanatory, collect this to earn these prizes, crafting is a whole other “animal”.  Crafting requires some self-direction.  You decide what you want and collect the items to craft accordingly.  Sometimes this is successful and sometimes it’s not. And, as with all things, for some events crafting is easier than others.

Now I know some of you still have questions so, let’s take a look…

By now everyone should know how crafting works.  But for those who don’t, Ii’ll cover the basics again.  But real quick, so I know a chunk of you won’t read what I write anyway…

Note: This post is intentionally going up during Act 2.  Hopefully, certain Trolls don’t accuse me of being “behind”.  I intentionally post crafting later in the event, so y’all have plenty of time to earn crafting currency and figure out your plans.  That and Act 1 is usually full of other “how-tos” that it’s hard to fit crafting in.

And now onto the basics….

Crafting is triggered via the Kwik-E-Merch via the Act 1 questline, Rock and Roll Never Forgets, Unfortuantely Pt. 7

Tapping the merch stand will bring you to the crafting menu.  You can also access the crafting menu via the event hub menu by clicking the trophy icon and then the crafting icon…

The Crafting Currency is tickets, they look like this:

You can earn Crafting Currency from:
-Tapping fans
-The Prize Track
-Weird Al Prize
-Lawyers

Crafting consists of different levels.  Each level unlocks more items to craft.  You spend crafting currency to level up. And once again they’ve decided to stick with what’s worked in the most recent events, you do NOT have to choose between Leveling up and Crafting.  The Tickets you spend to Craft items will count towards the Tickets needed to Level up!

What does this mean?  Well basically if it costs 20  to move up to the next level, and you want to craft the Duff Fences  (which cost 20 each)..you don’t have to decide between Leveling up and Crafting.  Simply craft the fences and the 20 will be deducted from the 20 required to Level Up (i.e. you’ll level up just from crafting the fences).

Similarly…you DO NOT HAVE TO CRAFT ITEMS TO LEVEL UP. You can level up by simply tapping the green button next to the level up bar.

It still takes Tickets, but it prevents you from crafting a bunch of stuff you may not want in order to level up.  As some of you have been complaining…

So the choice is yours, you can level up as you craft items.  Or you can just level up without crafting items.

And as with previous events, crafting ends when the event is over.  So you have all 3 Acts to craft.  There’s no rush to get it done now, you can wait until the event is almost over to get everything your tapping heart desires…

And finally, there are 16 total crafting levels.  You’ll start at Level 1 so you’ll need to level up 15 times (to reach level 16), on order to unlock all of the craftable items.  Here’s the breakdown of how many tickets are required to reach each level and unlock new items:

Level to Reach Tickets Required to Reach
2 20
3 80
4 100
5 125
6 175
7 300
8 250
9 350
10 400
11 400
12 500
13 500
14 500
15 500
16 500

You’ll need a total of 4,600  to unlock all of the levels…

So now that we’ve gone over those basics, let’s get to why most of you are reading this post…the breakdown of each craftable item.

Let me preface this by saying, for this event most of the craftable items are decorations.  Therefore, what to craft and how many is entirely up to you…as to what you think will work best in your Springfield.  There are some great decorations that can work in a variety of ways in Springfield (depending on how you’re building your music fest stages), but it’s up to you to determine what works best for your town.

Now here’s the breakdown:

Item: Duff Fences (4)
Required Level: 1
Ticket Cost: 20

Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100

Unique?: No.

Item: Duff Tent
Required Level: 1
Ticket Cost: 50
Size: 3×5
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100
What Does it Do: “Beer Tent” for the Music Fest.  Doesn’t do much but sit there.  Sadly it will not dispense Duff Beer to you…
Unique?: No.

Item: White Spotlight

Ticket Cost: 15
Size: 1×1
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +25
What Does it Do: White light turns on when you tap it. (turns off when you tap it again)

Item: Pig Balloon
Required Level: 2
Ticket Cost: 40

Unique?: No.

Item: Skylight
Required Level: 5

Item: Rude Crowd
Required Level: 9
Ticket Cost: 200
Size: 3×3

Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100
What Does it Do: Animated when tapped.  Lights at the top flash red and green.

Item: Cycling Spotlight
Required Level: 15
Ticket Cost: 120
Size: 1×1
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +80
What Does it Do: Like the Multi-Colored Spotlight only it automatically cycles through the colors, instead of you having to tap it to change the color.
Unique?: No.

Item: Bling Cup

Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100
What Does it Do: Nothing.  A giant cup.  “Sparkles”
Unique?: No.

My Personal Opinion on Craftables…
Don’t kill yourself.  Most of this stuff is just decorations and really unimpressive.  Craft what you like/think you can use in your town…but really nothing is worth kill yourself over.  I do like the crowds though, I’ve got a bunch in Springfield.  Probably my favorite of the list…

And unless that Bling Cup proves to be AWESOME in Act 3, don’t bother crafting it.  Total waste.

So again…don’t kill yourself trying to get all this stuff.  Sometimes less is more. Craft what you have a use for in Springfield….

Hope that helps some of you who have been stressing out over crafting!
