THOH 2015 101: Crafting Act 2

Advertisements

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well here we are, in most Tappers favorite time of the year in Springfield….Halloween!  The leaves on the tress have changed colors, the water is murky and there’s a darkness that falls over our TSTO screens.  All of these effects fit in perfectly with this year’s theme….Nightmares.

For the last year (THOH 2014 was the first year they did this), EA has broken up Events into stages.  Where every couple of weeks new prizes will be released.  They’ve also, over the last year, added an element of crafting to each Event, where you pick which prizes you want and craft accordingly.  And they’ve continued both methods into THOH 2015.

While the prizes themselves are pretty self explanatory, collect this to earn these prizes, crafting is a whole other “animal”.  Crafting requires some self direction.  You decide what you want and collect the items to craft accordingly.  Sometimes this is successful and sometimes it’s not.  However, crafting for this event is pretty simple and straight forward…and there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to get every craftable item you want this time around.

Now I know some of you still have questions about what to craft, if you should wait or craft now and what will happen in future Acts for THOH…so as we’ve done in the past, we’re here to breakdown all the crafting fun for you guys.  So let’s take a look at the complete guide to Crafting in Act 2….

By now, halfway into Act 2, y’all should have an understanding of the crafting basics.  But if you still need a refresher on how to craft, how to access the menus, what items are needed for crafting, etc check out our Crafting Guide for Act 1.  There you’ll find all of the basics covered.

Now we’ll get into Act 2…and some other questions…

Will this Crafting Currency Remain for Acts 2 and 3 or will it Change out?

As far as I can tell…this is it.  These four crafting currencies will make up the crafting currency for the entire event.  Which means when Act 3 hits you’ll still need to get those 4.

Is this It for Crafting Prizes Or Will There Be More?

As the Event continues MORE prizes for crafting will be added.  I can’t promise they’ll be amazing, but more will be added.

Will Act 1/2 Prizes Still be Available When Act 3 hits?

From what I can tell, yes.  The prizes won’t leave the crafting menu, just new ones will be added when new Acts hit.

Should I Hoard Crafting Currency or Craft What I Want?

I think most of you will agree that it’s pretty easy to earn crafting currency for this Event, unlike past Events.  So honestly, if you see something you want just craft it.

Should I Upgrade the Campfire or Craft?

Honestly, it doesn’t really matter which you do.  Personally, I’m doing both.  So I’m following along with which Nightmare I need to upgrade the Campfire and switching the Campfire over to that nightmare.  Once the upgrade is finished I then go to the next one.  It’s allowing me to build up a pretty good amount of craftable currency, while still upgrading.
But if you want something in particular just go for getting that currency. (ie wailing walls) Don’t worry about upgrading, or how far you should go on upgrading.  With this event, there’s no recommended max.  Go as far as you want to go…however high or low that is.

And now let’s breakdown the Act 2 Craftable items….

As I always say…craft what you want and what you like.  It’s a personal decision…if you like it get it.  If you don’t pass.

Item: Halloween Balloons
Cost: 300
Size: 1×1
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism +1
Unique: No, craft as many as you want
What Does It Do?: Not a whole heck of a lot.  Just some festive balloons for your Springfield.  They do have animation to them, they’ll look like they’re blowing in the wind (like balloons do) when placed.

Item: Jack-O-Lantern
Cost: 150
Size: 1×1
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +50
Unique: No, craft as many as you want
What Does It Do?: Nothing, it’s just a festive Jack-o-Lantern for your Springfield

Item: Spooky Wall
Cost: 200
Size: 1×2
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +10
Unique: No, craft as many as you want
What Does it Do?: Offers a 0.05% bonus to all cash and xp.  Beyond that, it’s just a decorative wall for your town.

*Addicts Advice: CRAFT Wailing Walls*

Item: Wailing Wall
Cost: 250
Size: 1×5
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +500
Earns: $300, 30xp/12hrs
Unique: No, craft as many as you want
What Does It do?: Was previously a premium decoration.  Animated decoration.  The faces in the wall all try to “poke” their way through.  Earns a 2.25% bonus on ALL cash and XP  (Initially this wall was released in 2013…and was premium. So it offered the bonus %.  I’m trying to remember, but I believe this wall also (at that time) spawned extra ghosts (which is what we had to tap in order to earn the prize currency for that event).  So once that event was over they switch it from spawning ghosts to generating cash and xp, but the bonus % remained.  So that’s why this offers both bonus % and generates cash and XP.  It’s not a mistake by EA (so they won’t take it away), it’s as intended from it’s original use…way back in 2013).

Item: Kodos
Cost: 250  250
Unique: Yes, you can only have 1 Kodos in Springfield.
What Does It do?: Independent character for Springfield.  Was initially released in 2013 as a premium character, so Kodos’ tasks pay at a premium rate.  HOWEVER…when you purchased this in 2013 it came with the Ray Gun/Crashed UFO.  The crafting version does not come with either of those, nor are they available in the store.  Which means you will not be able to do Kodos’ 24hr task if you craft.  There’s currently no way to get the Crashed UFO (and no the Victorian UFO is not the same thing).
Check out this Post to see Kodos’ Tasks and more detail.

And that my friends concludes all of the details for crafting during Act 2 of THOH!
