Simpsons Panel At E3…A Recap

Advertisements

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Happy Update Day!  ICYMI…and I don’t know how you could have I wrote a bunch of posts about it last night…an all-new update for TSTO hit our games last night.  If you haven’t already done so, go download it from the App Store now.  And if you want to see them, you can check out Spoilers here.

But this post isn’t about the new update.  This post is a recap of what happened last night during the E3 Expo, and the Simpsons panel.  If you didn’t get a chance to watch the hour-long panel I’ve embedded the YouTube video from it below, and I’ll highlight some areas for those who don’t have the time to watch the hour-long panel now.

So for those who want to watch the panel for themselves, I’ve got it here.  Should be cued up to the Simpsons panel…

Give it a few seconds (about 15) and the panel will start, it just starts on the “We’ll be back” screen first..

For those who just want the highlights, here we go…

-The biggest answer to the question I’m sure many of you are asking, no.  No new Simpsons game was announced.

-The panel consisted of Matt Selman, Carolyn Omine, Jeff Westbrook, Rob LaZebnik and Stewart Burns

-The 4 writers on the panel all work (or worked at one point) on TSTO.  And they all played, and some claim they still do, TSTO at one point. Matt Selman even admitted to spending $100 on donuts at on point.  He also admitted to being a “proud grinder”…before spending the money.

-Stewart Burns is essentially “in charge” of TSTO on the writer’s side.  And comments about how he has a hard time getting the writers to work on it (although claims it’s better now)

-The writers like to make fun of the players playing TSTO, much to the chagrin of EA.

-They once played Clash of Clans, which likely helped inspire the Clash of Clones update.

-Chester Dupree was discussed.  They added him to the game because they loved the idea of the character but could never find a way to add him into the show.

-People have told the writers that their kids tell them there’s a TV show based on Tapped Out.  (which was a favorite of many on the panel)

-They commented many times how no one reads the dialogue so they don’t know why they spend so much time on it. (Obviously, they haven’t hung around here, we read it all!)

-Writers work on the updates individually.  Unlike the show, where they work collaboratively.

-Matt Selman channeled his inner Cranky Old Guy and talked about how time is the most important currency.

-Matt Selman says something about Skyfinger and Homer that you can’t unsee (1hr 57m in)

-Game of games update is a spoof on a bunch of different video games (in particular Fortnite).

-Jeff Westbrook wrote the Game of Games update.

-The most important takeaway from it all…at least from the writers…there’s still A TON of content to come.  Well, Stewart Burns says “they’re charging ahead and working on  a bunch of new stuff”

And that’s kind of it.  Nothing earth-shattering as announced or discussed. Just seems like they’re plugging along, although they did seem to have…let’s say…interesting faces when Aaron (the panel host) said something always seems to be in the works game wise. Take a look at their faces here… this should cue right up to the spot where they mention games

What do you think?
