450 Million Gift Bags! The FIRST Community Prize is here!

Woo frakkin hoo!  We got our first community prize!  You might be an Addict if you watched a countdown in real time for over 30 minutes.

After 8 days of wishing and hoping and thinking and praying, the Krusty Themed Totem Pole is finally ours.  Coupled with the good news of EA agreeing with our fears of not getting all the prizes due to steep community goals and making them more obtainable, I’m a happy Wookiee!  We actually should be able to get all five community prizes before the event ends on January the 7th.  Cue the celebratory fanfares!  Let’s all sing: It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas….

Ok… totems are not Christmassy but getting gifts is, right?  Whether you like the “Chirstmas” Totem or not, you can’t really shake a stick at a 2.5% multiplier to XP and game currency.  Well, you could but you’d have to find a stick and then wave it at your device and that sounds like a silly thing to do.

With the first prize, I’m sure a lot of the blogs are going to be saying the same old stuff about it so I thought I’d try a different avenue for this post.  After all, this first prize actually has to do with something that is already in the game from Level 32.  Wow… was that only back in July when Krustyland was only a rumor?  My how the time flies.

The totem pole fits in perfectly with Kamp Krusty which included the Kamp Bart skin.  It has the expensive price of 200 donuts but its questline was really funny and comes from a classic Simpsons episode (Season 4 Episode 1: Kamp Krusty).  Brace yourself for aWhere did THAT come from for not only the totem pole, but Kamp Krusty and the Kamp Bart skin.

June 12th, the last day of school.  What does that mean?  Heck yeah… you’re kids are off to Summer Camp.  Sure you probably told them they couldn’t go if they didn’t get good grades, but even if they bring home D minuses, who wants them cooped up in the house buggin you for weeks on end?  In the Simpsons, this scenario is no different and their camp is none other than Kamp Krusty!

Actually built on an Indian burial ground, it promises archery, wallet making and of course, spending 6 weeks with none other than Krusty himself!  Also boasting an image enhancement camp, who wouldn’t want to spend a fun summer in rustic cabins having the time of their lives?

Below Mount Avalanche, Kamp Krusty is an abandoned mule tannery that was turned into a Summer Wonderland.  Is it any surprise that the brochures and commercials were all a lie?  Krusty’s only on video, the cabins are rickety and snake infested, the counselors are bullies (literally Dolph, Kearney and Jimbo).  Death marches, Dickenson-esque sweat shops, Barney posing as Krusty channeling lessons that can’t be learned until Season 6, Episode 15: Homie the Clown.  Barney’s ruse results in Ralph Wiggum having one of his most lucid quotes EVER.  “Still funny but not haha funny.”  You know a camp has to be horrible when Ralphie starts making sense.

Barney’s fake turn as Krusty turns out to be too much.  The kids riot with Bart as the ringleader.  The scene of the campers tearing down the Krusty Themed Totem Pole is reminiscent of many real life cultural revolts.  Burning Krusty’s effigy might not be.

Bart renames the summer camp by raising the Camp Bart flag (so much zingier than Camp Freedom and please notice its correct spelling with a C, not a K).  This gets the attention of Kent Brockman and eventually Krusty himself who was off enjoying Wimbledon and almost getting knighted.

Like most problems in the world, the entire camp fiasco can be blamed on a dumptruck full of money.  Not a complete loss.  The kids may have had to eat gruel, be tortured at fat camp for Daddy’s chubby little secret, make wallets for export and have nice hats eaten by bears, but Krusty makes it up to all the campers with 2 weeks at the Happiest Place on Earth… Tijuana.  Nothing makes up for inattention and child abandonment like sombreros, cockfights, tattoos and tequila.

Well… there’s all the info you probably never needed to know about our new community prize AND two other items you may own or at least salivated over.  I get that 200 donuts is pricey.  I have a theory that like the Plow King costume, this may be an attempt to rekindle interest in a premium item.  Ultimately only EA knows.  Check out Alissa’s should I buy post here if you don’t already have it.

Once you place the totem in your town, a short and hilarious dialogue auto starts between Homer and Apu.  Basically about Apu gouging folks with “holiday specials”.  Sound familiar?  It should, that’s what last Sunday’s episode was all about.  Our next prize is only 175 million bags away (625 million total) so keep on giving those gifts to your friendereenos!

TTFN… Wookiee out!
