Super Safi’s Monday Morning Musings 74 – President’s Song

Morning Musically-Minded, Medically-Minded, Masticators!

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “M”)

Over the past 600+ episodes, The Simpsons has taken us on an amazing journey involving music, science, and food to name a few concepts.

And what better way to start your week, than by discussing some of these concepts Monday morning?

So let’s get started this week by talking about a classic Simpsons original song.

In the seventy fourth episode of The Simpsons, I Love Lisa (Season 04, Episode 15), it’s Valentine’s Day in Springfield and all the kids at Springfield Elementary are busy making and sharing Valentine’s cards. Unfortunately no one has given Ralph a card. Noticing Ralph upset, Lisa quickly makes him a card that reads “I Choo-Choo-Choose You.” with a picture of a choo-choo train on it.

Ralph immediately appreciates the card, but unfortunately reads too much into it. He starts developing feelings for Lisa and gets her all sorts of gifts and tries to spend as much time as possible with her. With the help of his father, he scores the lead role of George Washington opposite Lisa’s Martha Washington in the President’s Day play.

He also gets them tickets to Krusty’s special 29th anniversary show, thanks to a police bust by his dad Chief Wiggum (the first episode that directly references Chief Wiggum and Ralph as father and son). When Krusty interviews Ralph at the anniversary show, Lisa breaks Ralph’s heart on national television.

Krusty: “What’s your name, son?
Ralph: “Ralph.
Krusty: “And is this your girlfriend, Ralph?
Ralph: “Yes! I love Lisa Simpson, and when I grow up, I’m going to marry her!
Lisa: “NOOOOOOOOOO! Now you listen to me! I don’t like you! I never liked you, and the only reason I gave you that stupid valentine is because nobody else would!
(Bart pauses the video and puts it in slo-mo)
Bart: “Watch this, Lise. You can actually pinpoint the second when his heart rips in half. And… now.

When the day of the President’s Day play arrives, it starts with a Simpsons original song about the lesser known Presidents. Then Bart and Millhouse play John Wilkes Booth and Abraham Lincoln. And then finally Ralph and Lisa portray the life story of George and Martha Washington.

But have you ever wondered what song the kids sang about the Presidents at the play?

President’s Song

With lyrics by Jeff Martin and Frank Mula and music by Alf Clausen and Jeff Martin, the President’s Song is an oringial song written and performed for the episode.

Initially Principal Skinner sets up the song.

Seymour Skinner:
Good evening, everyone, and welcome to a wonderful evening of theater and picking up after yourselves. We begin with a tribute to our lesser-known Presidents.

(music begins)
Children:
We are the mediocre Presidents.
You won’t find our faces on dollars or on cents.
There’s Taylor, there’s Tyler, there’s Fillmore and there’s Hayes,
There’s William Henry Harrison.
Harrison:
I died in thirty days!
Children:
We…
Are…
The…
Adequate, forgettable,
Occasionally regrettable
Caretaker Presidents of the U.S.A.!

Now that we’ve learned more about the President’s song, be sure to come back next week when we continue our Monday morning musings with the next episode of The Simpsons.

Familiar With These Lesser Known Presidents?

Let’s just say there’s one President I’d soon forget! 😂

Pro Tip – at the bottom where it says TSTO Addicts is not affiliated with EA, Fox, Disney should be your biggest clue that while you can vent here? please don’t hate / frustrate \ complicate TSTO Addicts Staff (Alissa Safi Wookie)!

You can vent your frustrations at the official TSTO Facebook Page, or the official TSTO EA Forums, or @EAHelp on Twitter – just don’t expect any help from Customer Support if you are going to be angry / mean at them (trust me! I get it! being logged out of the Game App without the ability to log back in sucks!)

It all comes down to having a verified email account via Gmail or Outlook (don’t use Yahoo, or your work email, or an email account you no longer use!), an Origin Account that’s up to date (this doesn’t mean you need to tell EA everything about you, but anything you put on there that flags as ‘potentially fake account’ isn’t going to help you!) and always have a ‘cheat sheet’ (print out your names and passwords everywhere you sign in and tack it to your wall!)

Thank you to every Tapper who posted suggestions (solutions) regarding the ‘verification code’ situation. I hope anyone who’s been temporarily logged out will find a means to log back in (an I will miss my neighbuoreeno’s who give up on the Game App out of frustration).

EA isn’t the only Company using a ‘verification code’ now, but EA may solve the situation if they allow a Tapper to have the code sent to their smartphone via text message (how do you make that happen? you post on the official Facebook page, official Forum, official EA Help on Twitter and implore EA to make this available!)

    • Bzzzt – 10 point penalty, talking sense on the interweb 🙂

I can understand people being annoyed with the login problems, but as you say, there really isn’t anything that our hero Addicts can do to get it fixed!

Can we nominate them all for sainthood, for NOT using the words that spring to my tiny mind when I see some of the posts about problems for the eleventy-fifth time…

But to get back on the same planet as the topic, it does surprise me how many of your Presidents I’ve at least heard of!

      • I feel bad for any Tapper who can’t login, except those who never bothered to keep their Origin Account up to date (ie who uses a defunct email in any account? that’s just an epic fail!) 😅

Yeah we’ve had some Presidents who made History (🤫 I got to stop right there, Safi really opened up things with this question “do you remember some of these Presidents” and he did a great job writing about a very funny Episode!) 👍🏻

  3. Had to break this up into 3 Parts

    I.

I Love Lisa (Season 04, Episode 1) another Episode that gave TSTO some Content (ie the I Choo Choo Choose You Train Decor) poor Ralphie Wiggum, he deserves his own Mini Event because it would be extra silly!

We’re going to go with ‘M as in Monsoon’ here in Nevada! 🌦️💦

“We Are the Mediocre Presidents (Presidents Song)” is just one of many gems found on ‘Go Simpsonic With The Simpsons’ (Rhino Records (1999)*

What I Remember Most About The Episode “I Love Lisa”

Probably the first Episode where Lisa Simpson is mean and instead of laughing at Ralph Wiggum’s antics? I felt sympathy for Ralph!

    My Favourite ‘Love Story Episode’

Let’s go with ‘Dangerous Curves’ (Episode 5, Season 20) – The Simpsons take a road trip to a cabin in the woods that Homer and Marge vacationed at 20 years before, via flashbacks, Homer and Marge reflect on their courtship!

  4. I never had any problems with codes, emails, or access…every once in a while I get kicked out of the game…but that’s usually after about 20 ?mins or so of playing….but if I was having these problems…I would follow Geoffy2357(?)’s advice he posted in the open thread. Especially if you’ve spent real money..and can no longer access what you paid for.

  5. I see that the log in for a code is back again. How does this site epect for followers to play if they keep putting this on ther. Once again I cannot get to the program to play.

    • We’re not EA, nor are we affiliated with EA. We have zero control over the game, game play, or how you log into the game.

    • The codes system started a couple of months ago and isn’t going away any time soon.

You must use the email for the game account.
The codes expire after ten minutes.
If you’re getting the codes but they’re invalid every time try this . . .

      Uninstall the game.
Log in to your EA account and reset your password, keeping it less than 16 characters and only using letters and numbers.
Re-install the game but don’t play until all that huge game-data download has completed.

If you don’t get the emails because it’s an old email account you will need to contact EA Help directly and get them to change your email.

If it’s a working account but you don’t get the codes there is a known issue affecting quite a few players accounts.
It seems to be a profile issue, mainly affecting long-time tappers, and EA are trying to fix it.
There’s nothing so far a player can do to fix it for themselves.
A few have had success getting EA help to set up a new account with the old game data but usually they’re just told to wait for a fix.
( one was even told to read my Answers post where I suggested this might be something EA Help could do, but they wouldn’t do it !?! )

There might be light at the end of the tunnel for those with working emails still having problems. Reading between the lines on some recent posts EA might have got the what and why for the faults and can concentrate on the how to fix it bit, but that might take a little while to roll out.

Meanwhile, please remember it’s not Alissa’s fault !!
