Mad Men of Springfield: Guiseppe Granfinali

Welcome to another new addition to Addicts, the Mad Men of Springfield. We will be going into depth on the history and background of the male species running around our lil towns as well as those not yet in the game.

Just think about it. What Man living in Springfield is “normal”? Not a single one that I can think of. They all have at least ONE thing wrong with them. Seriously! Think about it. How many issues does Moe have? A Reverend a “little” obsessed with trains? An owner of a Kwik-E-Mart that goes to counseling with the same person that robs him, on a daily basis? Not to mention the “inbreeding” and other strange happenings going on at the farm. Oh the idiosyncrasies.

So sit back, relax, grab your favorite beverage, and enjoy as we kram your brains with some Simpson knowledge of the MAD MEN OF SPRINGFIELD.

In this weeks episode, I am going to talk about a new character brought into our games via the 4th of July Event. I am talking about none other than Giuseppe Granfinali.

Guiseppe 1

So how did he end up in our games? Where in the Simpsons TV world did he appear? Has he always been obsessed with fireworks? Well that’s look at the episode that we first met him. (It was not so long ago.)

Season 25, Episode 22: Yellow Badge of Cowardge
Due to a lack of funding, the town will not be putting on a firework show. Homer of course can’t just let this go. He HAS to have his fireworks. So he sets out to plan his own show, with a lil help of course. The help, comes from a man he met as a child during an amazing fireworks display. Giuseppe Granfinali.

Giuseppe 1

Homer seeks him out and finds him living at the Wrinkled Arms Apartments. He is there surrounded by all things fireworks and is saddened Homer reminded him of the time when he made a lot of money doing what he loved. Homer convinces Giuseppe to help him with the fireworks show.

Giuseppe 2

They both head off to get fireworks from the only place in town they believe will have what they are looking for, the Spuckler Farm. Cletus however had mistakenly filled all his with drugs instead of gun powder. Oops, too bad for the Columbian Drug Lords. Later they end up with Homer’s car loaded with lots n lots n lots of Gun Powder as they head off to Giuseppe’s workshop in the Cobblestone District.

They spend a lil time working out the sequence for the fireworks show and once they put it all together, they get ready by setting up on the lake on a Barge (just like the one in our game). Homer sees Bart on the shore having a rough time and tries to speed up the show. Homer begs Giuseppe to just get it going as his family should not be sad on the Holiday. Giuseppe explains it should actually be celebrated on the 2nd of July. This, of course, sparks a fight. Homer calls him “Super Mario”, Giuseppe slaps him across the face, and they start to brawl. During the brawl, the Barge is tossed on its side from all the fighting and the fireworks hang in the air over water. Homer and Giuseppe barely hold on by grabbing onto a firework. They hope the trigger does not start the show. Of course, Kearney and the bullies are aiming rubber bracelets at them and one ends up shooting the launch trigger. Homer and Giuseppe abandon ship as all the fireworks head towards the shore and all the people standing there. The Retirement Van pulled up just in time puts a stop to them though. (Explains why our lil barge doesn’t get a chance to put on a cool show either. Way to go Homer.)

So, there you have it. A new character who just very recently made an appearance in the TV series is now a permanent fixture in our silly lil games.

We don’t really get to know a lot about him from the episode. Just a brief glimpse into his life. Maybe we will see more of him in the future? The dialog from the game also adds a lil more information from his life. Homer even pokes fun of how minor a character he is, but made it in to the game. Lol. He tells Lisa he is the ONLY one of 15 boys left from his family. The rest, “Blown up to God”. He apparently also had sisters who “found the big fireworks” by tossing lil ones around looking for them. They too were blown up.

This crazy man was dropped into our games with all of the 4th of July items. Just what all did Giuseppe bring with him into the game? Well, we have his home/workshop from the Cobblestone District that gives us some hilarious animation with one of his tasks. The two come as a combo during the main questline. Then we have the sad lil Firework Barge from the episode that has a lone firework that pops out and fizzles into the water. You can purchase that separately with 80 of your pink sprinklies. Too bad Homer had to start a fight, would have been an awesome show both in the TV and our lil game.

With a new character and building comes new quests and Giuseppe has a few hilarious ones.

  1. I’m new to the site and mist wanted to let you guys know that I love it!!!

  2. How do you pronounce Mr. Granfinali’s first name? Missed the episode, and boyfriend and I were arguing which pronunciation was correct. 😛 We each call him something different!

  3. You know, it wouldn’t surprise me if this episode/character were created just to put in the game.

  4. I still wish they had given us a nighttime view of the fireworks — even if it was just a cut scene — fireworks in daylight just aren’t as impressive.

Meanwhile, do we know yet if the fireworks display will continue with the post-event update? Methinks that fireworks in mid-August could cause a forest fire….

    • lol yes just a small forest fire 😉 But…the fireworks do work all year long.

And I completely agree, a nighttime display would be awesome! 🙂
