These are just a few of the FAQ’s I’ve noticed come up a lot with TSTO, and some that are just fun facts to know.
How many characters have been introduced in TSTO to date?
As of Level 32/Krustyland Expansion there are 80 Characters that have been introduced to the game at some point, either as a limited time character or a permanent addition. These include characters that have no tasks and only walk around.
As of 3/14/19 there are 403 playable characters (not including skins) and 144 NPCs.
When I visit my friend’s town why are some of their characters dressed differently than mine?
From time to time EA will introduce a costume for a character, already in the game, that will open up a whole new quest line for that character. Sometimes these costumes come out with a big event (like Christmas and Halloween) and other times they’re introduced as part of a promotion for an upcoming episode of the Simpsons.
As of Level 32 there are 15 total costumes that have been introduced. Out of that 15 only 2 of them are permanent additions (McBain & Kamp Bart), and they both cost donuts to unlock.
What about Chief Wiggum? Doesn’t he have a costume? Sometimes I see him walking around my neighbors Springfield in a dress.
Chief Wiggum does not have a costume, however if you send him on his 24 hour task (Go on a Stakeout) he will walk around Springfield in a dress and blue wig.
How many buildings have been introduced in TSTO to date?
As of level 32 (not including Krustyland) there have been 98 buildings released, between permanent additions, limited-time, and premium.
Do all of the buildings earn money?
No. While almost all of the buildings earn money there are a handful of buildings that do not earn money but have other tasks. Cletus’s Farm does not earn money as the other buildings do instead it earns money through growing crops, Channel 6 earns money through news broadcasts and Open Air Stage earns money through characters performing. While Springfield Downs earns money through betting on the Dog Races.
Town Hall, Moe’s Tavern, Springfield Elementary & the Police Station do not earn money. However, your neighbors can vandalize those buildings with spray paint while visiting and you earn money from cleaning up the spray paint.
Finally, Springfield Retirement Castle is the one building that does not earn money, has no tasks to earn money, and cannot be vandalized. However, it’s a building you must purchase in order to get Grandpa Simpson.
How large can I expand my Springfield to?
Including the water and shoreline Springfield is 18×18.
Krustyland is a 10×10 square.
How much would it cost to purchase all the available land in Springfield?
To purchase all of the land in Springfield, 326 squares, it would cost $44,992,890 game dollars.
To purchase all of the land in Krustyland, 100 squares, it would cost 469,000 tickets.

I’m currently on level 46 and I’m still waiting to build the hospital. Based on the storyline, I’ve had some tasks for the folks that seemed it was leading toward the hospital, but then it just seemed to go another direction and never went back. Any ideas on how to force it?
Just try to follow questline…if still nothing, alert EA.

I need help! I know it’s silly to go through the trouble of retrieving one little character for my stupid little Springfield, but you all understand, so I don’t need to explain myself! Sorry, I’ll be brief, I’m missing my Maude Flanders! I have her on my anonymous account so I didn’t bother completing the quest last year after getting he gypsy store. Now, working on my orgin account, I’ve been waiting for Halloween for a chance to get (even willing to purchase) my Maude! However, I was never offered the option. Was she possible to get this year? Is this a problem I should take up with ea? Thank you everyone!

I am confused about the bounce house. Is there an order to who goes in? Why do I have locks on some characters? I know they are locked when busy but there are some that are locked even when everyone is free. I also understand that I do not have Sherri & Terri or Utar so I know why they are locked but not the others.
The bounce house is just for fun and to collect money. It is similar to the Dog Race Tracks and Channel 6, you pick something and start that task to get a pay out. Nothing more.

Question: do you think they’ll introduce any new “build a bear” prizes in the store…? If so, it might be a good idea not to build any duplicate prizes at this point any wait it out? Or, do you think we have seen any and all new prizes that will be craftable, so we should…build build build to our hearts content?

Hello….having an issue with crashing. Every time I go into my neighbors town that starts with a V, my game crashes. It’s been doing that for two days now. I’ve tried different ways of going into their town and still crashes. Suggestions?
Could be their town. When my game locked up from too many items no one could visit it. It kicked them out of their game. May have to skip that neighbor for now.
I seem to have quite a few unfinished/unstarted tasks. This halloween event has alot to it! Your page has proved invaluable, thank-you. IS there somewhere in your posts where it describes each task, how to start it, etc. For examle “the good son” there is a task with cool lisa that I have been unable to finish. Honestly…we have a cool “search” tool on our home page that works with Google. You type in a key word and it searches every post on our site only for that key word. It helps to locate info fast if you do not want to navigate our menus. 🙂

Question. My elementary school is gone. Noticed it yesterday when I tried to send willies to mop the floors. Pretty sure I didnt sell it.. But who knows maybe I did when moving things to storage momentarily to make room for new items.. Its not in my inventory, Iv signed out then back in, and its still gone I’m on level 39 doing the Treehouse of Horror xxv. I see no place to but it back? I DO NOT.. want to restart game lol.. Just follow the information you see and be VERY cautious. Make sure you’re not syncin it to the level 1.
So, I thought they fixed the problem with the alien eggs with the last update, but today I placed 40 eggs and got 8 proteins in return. I’m more than a little bit miffed. The same sort of thing had been happening every time I place eggs in my neighbors towns. It has not been a fun update for me, since it feels impossible to get all the prizes even though I have been playing every day. Anyone know what I can do about this eggs problem?
Remember…it takes time for the payout to sync up to your game. It has to register first in the towns you dropped them, then sync to the system, then transfer to your game and sync to your game. Can take up to 24 hrs at times. If it takes longer than that…let EA know.

I was going through the land, killing all the little squishees, when I ran across a little glitch :
I hit a squishee on Apu…got mad when another jumped right on, like a second later. Squished him, noticed another … it kept going she going and going! It’s still going…

I have a lot of dead beat players on my friends list and I can sow or hide them but how do I DELETE them to make room for the people that are actually playing?? Please help!
Instead of clicking show or hide…tap on their actual icon next to their name. It will show the last time they played and option to UNFRIEND them. 😉

Is there a limit to how many dna strands you can collect from friends/neighbor. I have 37 friends, 35 that are playing daily. I recently add new friends only to find out that 5 of them don’t give me the DNA strand.

I have two questions.. Why have I never received a donut from a gift bag? I play constantly. Sometimes I think I miss the rules unless I read them here.
Secondly, my daughter just started playing, should she have the halloween event? She has the make-a-thing workshop, but nothing else. Thank you so much for helping.
They are random. Most the time you don’t even realize you got them as the system collects the bag contents so fast.
If you recall, you have a few steps in the event until it fully launches. She is almost there. Few more tasks and it will be ready for full Halloween.

Glad I asked before wasting treat bag stuff crafting them (looks like I’ll be redeeming mine for walls and small stuff like that, since I already have Hugo and a Spooky House and have decided that I’m not interested in, and don’t have enough room for anyway, the remaining big craft ambles). I’m low on Tree-Hugging on th CoM, so I had thought about crafting shrubs, but not for a measles 5 points each!! Thanks for stopping me from making that mistake! 🌹

They are cool, but more worth it to just put some trees and shrubs out from your decorations menu. Tree Hugging is an easy one to get up there.

My app keeps crashing whenever I get to the syncing process it will freeze for 1 second than crash.
Uninstall and reinstall, you may have a corrupt file somewhere.
Anyone notice that they don’t get that last ray gun/strand on the friends actions? Just now on my screen it said I would receive 1 stand for the next 27 actions. But on the 27th action, I only got $, FP & XP. It didn’t give me my stands (I stood plural as I also have the license). And while I know it’s only two, it’s happened to me every time, so I’ve lost a lot over the whole course of THOH update.
At first, I thought I wasn’t counting correctly but, it’s happened to me too. I don’t always pay attention so, I haven’t been able to confirm that it happens every time. It seems that the last probe/Ray gun/strand eligible town I visit, it only gives me 2 sets instead of 3 (I have the license as well).
Bunny & Alissa – have y’all heard any other reports of this happening?
You gotta watch your taps. I pointed this out previously, sometimes the UFO or Sideshow will take from your town taps. So pay close attention and monitor where you are losing them. Then report it to EA.

Ok…I took the great advice of stocking up bags, and not using my treats frivolously, so I was able to get the queen first thing this morning once in enter my town.
Question: if I have one of everything I will ever want in the “build a bear” workshop, is there any real reason to continue sending my Springfield kids trick or treating every possible chance I can? Do we expect new prizes will be possible in “build a bear” or is it WYSIWYG???? (And if so…maybe they can finally rest up a bit? :P)

I have a problem with tapped out, whenever i press on Homer my game crashes, therefore I cannot do any tasks with Homer, its been like this for over a month now, i tried reinstalling the app and i also try to play it on a few other devices, but it still crashes, any tip would be helpful, thank you 🙂

Only way is to log into your Origin Account. You can still have multiple Origin accounts on 1 device, you’ll just need to log in and out of each one
Just got a new kindle fire hd7 and apparently it is not compatible with TSTO? I sent a request to EA,, but wanted to see if any other addicts have had this issue. Any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated!
I have a Kindle Fire HD 7 (the kind from a year or so ago) and it works just fine with TSTO. (Although, now that I’ve gotten used to playing on my work iPad, which is much larger, the KFHD7 version looks really small…can’t imagine how people play this game on their phones!)
EA responded to the query, just saying “we are aware of the problem”. There are some other recent posts to the interwebs of similar complaints, so it seems that this is a recent issue with the Fire HD7. Very frustrating! Any hints on how we can light a fire under EA/Amazon to get the problem fixed?

Level 41 player with origin id. Did all troubleshooting. Still says that it didn’t save my springfield on another device which is incorrect since I only play and have acct on my android. So what do I do cause don’t want to start.square one. Plz help.
The “other device” is just a default message. It means you left your game too soon for whatever reason and it thinks you are still in there. Just play on and continue back to your game.
I thought I was doing a good thing for myself–I bought the newest version (4) of the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 so that my Springfield would not be so slow and glitchy. Haha. It didn’t quite work out that way. I can’t download TSTO because it’s not ready for that tablet yet.
Here’s the funny part: I called EA to see if they knew when the app might be released and the rep didn’t know. He suggested I keep an eye on your blog!! He said you know things before they do quite often.
So what has been your past experience as to how long EA takes to update their app for a brand new tablet release? And have you heard anything about compatibility with the new Fire?
HAHAHHAHAAH I love that they watch our site. It makes me giggle every time I talk to FOX about it.
It all depends on the device itself. They usually, if the company is nice, are given a test device to try to get their app to work with it. If not, then they got to wait like everyone else til it is released, then test n test n test til they make sure it is compatible. It can be days, weeks, or even months. It is so hard to say. So many ins n outs of it.
Haven’t heard too much on it just yet.
I’ve searched here and come up empty… is there a post for the points schedule for the Halloween event? the “you ought to have approx. X points on Y date” calendar that’s been generated for previous events… or with the way points are being gathered and redeemed being so variable was it not possible to have a target schedule? Just trying to figure out how far behind I am…

Your XP level is different from your Game Play Level. Make sure you follow the walkthrough all the way for each level so you unlock the items in order.
