Where Did THAT Come From – Burns’ Summer Mansion

Faster than an event speeding donut spender! More powerful than a local Addict! Able to leap long comment threads in a single bound! Look! Up in the TSTO-niverse! It’s a building! It’s a decoration! It’s Superheroes 2016!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

So unless you’ve been locked away in Lucite, by now you probably realize a new event has splashed all over the screens of our beloved game. Lots of new stuff and that means I have one heck of a job to do letting you know where all the new “super” things come from. Origin stories are sort of the bread and butter of any comic book story worth its proverbial weight in Booster Gold, so I’m back at my usual antics again. For this issue of WDTCF, we’ll be looking at one of the FREE buildings offered with this update, the Burns’ Summer Mansion.

“Springfield Up” (S18:E13)

Woohoo!  Free mansions! Funny to me, I actually had images from this episode saved from when Declan Desmond joined our games way back during Level 55. There are quite a few WDTCFs I just haven’t finished yet but event stuff always comes first. Some day we might catch up but I wouldn’t bet on it. Wait, was that a joke I saved from the Vegas event? To quote a lollipop loving owl, “The world may never know.”

Anyhoo… documentary filmmaker Declan Desmond did a documentary called Growing Up Springfield which details the lives of Springfield residents including Moe Szyslak, Clancy Wiggum, Professor Frink, Eleanor Abernathy, Marge Bouvier, Homer Simpson, and others over eight year increments. The documentary is great and I suggest watching it if for no other reason than seeing the adult figures of Springfield as kiddos. “What does the future hold for these children? Will he (Carl Carlson) grow up to work in a robot factory? Will she (Marge) be the receptionist for a robot businessman? And will he (Barney) be a crusader for robosexual rights?”

It’s really good… I promise. Lots of glimpses into the past lives of character’s we love and the reveal of what happened to make Crazy Cat Lady so cat crazy. When Desmond goes to follow up with “now times” Homer, he finds that he’s stinking rich and living in a mansion.

What? When did that happen? Of course, the title of this post sort of gives away whose mansion it is. Homer is living in the mansion and the kiddos are enjoying water skiing and dolphin riding. Yet another idea for our town EA, hint hint, visual tasks on the water for summer would be great.

The inside of the mansion is decadent. Homer claims to have come by his fortune by inventing the condiment pen. Santa’s Little Helper even has his own Jacuzzi.

Declan believes the ruse for a while even if he finds old man ointments in the medicine cabinet of one of the mansion’s bathrooms. It’s while he asks Marge about this that Mr. Burns returns to his summer home to find the squatters. The lie is revealed and Smithers is found to have been stashed in a grandfather clock for three days. Also, Burns doesn’t normally keep his hounds there but at his winter home instead.

So there you go super dudes and dudettes. The origin for Mr. Burns’ Summer Mansion. Also some info about Declan Desmond in case I never get around to him. Here’s a post about the Chrono Trike from this episode I actually finsihed a while ago so enjoy that too if you like. Sound off in the comments and happy tapping.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. Thanks, it’s always fun to read about the origin of stuff in the game.

Father Sean can’t wait for this event to end because he’s fed up with being mistaken for a criminal over and over again.

I on the other hand have enjoyed this event even though it tends to get repetitive, like most events.

    • Legs and Louie, too. Thinks it’s the dark suits.

Louie: “Am I funny to you?”
Me: No, Louie, and sorry. I meant to tap a criminal. *ahem* I mean an event criminal, not a career one like yourself. Not that your business isn’t legitimate. I’m in no way implying that. Nor do I want to end up in the trunk of your car. *gulp*
      Louie: “You’re embarrassing yourself.”
Me: No argument there. Happens every day.

    • LOL! So I’m not the only one who taps on Father Sean, thinking he’s a criminal.
