Questline with Dialog:

Seeds of Knowledge, part 1:

Randy: Kids, here are our oldest cider vats. These copper miracles were handmade by the Swartzwelder family over a hundred years ago.
Randy: Interesting fact! Back in 1932 these vats were used by mill workers as shelter when the nearby Army base accidentally bombed Springfield.
Randy: Trapped inside for hours, several workers became violently ill from the cider fumes.
Wendell Borton: I’m gonna be sick…
Randy: No! No! No! Not in the…
Randy: …vat. You had to use the vat.
Wendell Borton: Sorry, sir. I feel better, though.
Randy: That’s wonderful.
Randy: Before we continue with the tour, are there any questions?
Ralph: My hand has one!
Randy: What’s your question, young man?
Ralph: Why did I have a dream about a corncob bicycle?
Randy: *holding a scrub brush* …so, for the last part of the tour today, you’ll be getting some hands-on experience with how we clean the vats!

• Make Randy Give Tours of the Mill – 4 hours
• Make Youngsters Clean the Cider Vats – x 5, 4 hours

Randy: Well, kids, thanks for visiting the mill. Please be sure to visit our gift shop on your way out for all your apple-themed needs! Come again!
Miss Hoover: Oh, we will.
Randy: Miss Hoover, it’s wonderful to see youngsters taking an interest in our history.
Miss Hoover: Well, it’s so violent. That’s the sugar in any history lesson! Ha! I don’t think I’ve seen them all so quiet and attentive.
Miss Hoover: Made me forget for a moment that I was a teacher. *sighs* One happy moment.
Randy: Well, how about I show them around the aging cellar next week?
Miss Hoover: Randy, you can tour their brains out.
Randy: Nothing I love better than instilling the love of apples in the minds of the young.
Miss Hoover: Nothing? Really?
Randy: I want to die doing it.
Miss Hoover: The apple mill tour?
Randy: The apple mill tour.

Reward: 100 $$s, 10 XP

Seeds of Knowledge, part 2:

Randy: Thank you all for coming! We look forward to your next visit!
Connie Appleseed: Oh, thank you for the tour, mister. It was a delight.
Randy: Oh hello, little miss pot head. I didn’t see you there.
Connie Appleseed: The name’s Connie Appleseed.
Randy: What a wonderful last name. So apple-y! Were you with the class that came through?
Connie Appleseed: Not exactly. See I kind of snuck onto their bus instead of hitchhiking all the way out here.
Randy: Hitchhike?
Connie Appleseed: Oh, yes. Once I learned that there was an authentic cider mill nearby, I just had to make sure I saw it!
Randy: Spoken like a true apple-head.
Connie Appleseed: Truly, where some see an apple cider factory, I see a cathedral.
Randy: And where you see a cathedral, I see…an apple.
Connie Appleseed: Okay, you win.

• Make Randy Find a Kindred Spirit – 4 hours
• Make Connie Appleseed Wonder if This Was a Good Idea – 4 hours

Connie Appleseed: So what apples are used for this cider?
Randy: Oh, just the boring old Granny Smiths.
Connie Appleseed: Hey! How about we make our own from a variety? Invent our own recipe!
Randy: Oh should we? Please say “we should”!
Connie Appleseed: *tossing apples* Here, catch! Start with Woodbine and Backwell Red…
Randy: Got ’em! Now toss me some Yarlington Mill, Foxwhelp, and Fair Maid of Devon for a bit of edgy apple tang.
Connie Appleseed: You want edgy? I got edgy. Here’s Zestar, Yates, and Ultra Gold!
Randy: You go, girl!
Connie Appleseed: I’m apple to the core! I keep all doctors away. I’m more apple than grandma’s pie!
Randy: Can you tone it down a bit? Seriously…
Connie Appleseed: I get it.

Reward: 100 $$s, 10 XP

Seeds of Knowledge, part 3:

Connie Appleseed: Randy, I’m so glad that I came here. You’re the first person in Springfield who loves apples as much as I do.
Randy: I know. The last person I met who appreciated apples like I do was carted off to a hospital.
Randy: I think he killed a few dozen people.
Connie Appleseed: Sounds like a Northern Crisp lover.
Randy: *laughs* How did you know?!
Randy: Connie, as a kin of the core, I just have to share my special reserve cider with you.
Connie Appleseed: What an honor!
Randy: Oh, it is! I envy you.

• Make Randy Fetch His Special Reserve Cider – 4 hours
• Make Connie Appleseed Evaluate the Cider – 4 hours

Randy: Here you go. Give this a try.
Connie Appleseed: *sniffs* Oh my. *sips* I’m tasting…altitude.
Randy: Altitude. Really?
Connie Appleseed: With notes of mountain air.
Randy: Oh, get out of here.
Connie Appleseed: My guess? Arlet.
Randy: You devil! How did you guess?
Connie Appleseed: Simple deduction. Arlet is a Swiss grown variety. Alpine growing conditions. But what sealed the deal was the hint of cowbell.
Connie Appleseed: *raises glass* A toast to apples!
Randy: Um…yeah. Could you just toast it yourself?
Connie Appleseed: What’s the deal?
Randy: Yeah, it’s a little awkward but…I never consume apples or apple products.
Connie Appleseed: Well, how do you like them apples?
Randy: Truth is…I don’t.
Connie Appleseed: …

Reward: 100 $$s, 10 XP

Seeds of Knowledge, part 4:

Connie Appleseed: Randy, I’m totally confused. You seem to be the most apple-smitten man I’ve ever met, yet you don’t like apples?
Randy: Oh no! I love everything about them. Their smell! Color! Shape! Even their sound!
Connie Appleseed: Sound?
Randy: The sound of other people eating them. That’s the key. Other people can eat them but I can’t stand their flavor. It’s a shame I will carry to my grave.
Randy: By the way, I’m going to be buried in an orchard.
Connie Appleseed: So am I.
Randy: But one thing I can never bury is my shame. Here I am professing my apple love to others through my tours, my apple-centered music and my apple-themed mystery novels.
Randy: And all the while I harbor a deep dark secret. I just wish I could get myself to eat one apple.
Connie Appleseed: *offers apple* You can! This is a Ralls Janet I’ve been saving. Until you eat it, I vow I will stop all my apple activities.
Randy: Connie Appleseed! The world needs your random planting!
Connie Appleseed: Then do it. Not for me or yourself. Eat the apple for the sake of apples everywhere.
Randy: …

• Make Randy Attempt to Enjoy Apples – 4 hours

Randy: There. Done. But thank you for forcing me to overcome my fear.
Connie Appleseed: I knew you could do it.
Randy: I feel sick…with pride…and nausea.
Connie Appleseed: Embrace that feeling! You earned it. Now, if there’s nothing else I can do…
Randy: One thing.
Connie Appleseed: Name it.
Randy: I’m gonna need your pan.

Reward: 200 $$s, 20 XP

  1. I would love to get xtra candy canes and bells and toy soldiers for my town. Any idea if they’ll be offering them again?

  2. It’s a voiced character and a new building with an interesting water feature. Not super exciting but it is a nice little combo for the donuts.

  3. Just a query but is alissa still posting comments and running the tsto addicts site?
