Here is the latest from EA:
“We’ve just pushed out an update that fixes the disappearing donuts issue. The currency conversion offers have been returned to the store, and players will receive a fresh “donut rain” the first time they log in after this patch, since we also determined those went missing as well.”

Do you know if they will bring back any of the old premium content/characters to purchase before the lights go out? I have been a freemium player since day one, carefully accruing and saving donuts over YEARS and selectively agonizing over buying the things I really wanted. Now I’m left with all of these donuts — and Shattered Dreams tokens! — I’d been saving and there is little left to buy that is interesting… Would love to be able to go back and get all that stuff I’d missed over the years… Thanks!
Not looked fully at what’s in them, but there’s 5 sets of returning items popping up over the next four weeks.
You got the first after part 3 or 4 of the prize-track and then one a week, but they will all remain until the end it seems
Thank you! I’ll keep checking back! 🙂
My shattered dreams tokens converted to donuts. I had to go through that purchase something like 24 times. I’m assuming that’s because they won’t be good for anything else between now and the end.
Yes, like many of you I was here from day one. I’m retired and currently recouping from open heart surgery. I’m not going to be negative because this game has given me so much joy! I’ve played nearly every day for 12 years. I got this app with my brand-new iPad 1(the perfect device for this game, now I play on a phablet – Galaxy Note 20)!
Thanks for all the fun and frustration! I’ll miss this game, bigly!
Please let us capture our screens in high definition! I want to print a poster of my Springfield!
Thanks again for all the fun!
I am in complete shock with the ending of this beloved game. I have never posted before, instead lurking in the shadows I guess, absolutely so thankful for each and everyone who has contributed to this site and wrote in over the years. I was a few months behind from day 1, but my love of the Simpsons and this amazing community has kept me going through some extremely difficult times and challenges. A few years before the start of tapped out, I was rear ended by an underaged drunk driver, in a marked police car no less. After a dozen or so back and neck surgeries, I am about as good as I am going to get. No longer in a wheelchair thankfully, but I walk very slowly and kinda funny. However, this game lifted my spirits during all of my hospital stays and long, difficult rehabs. Thank you EA for helping buoy my spirits throughout the years and life altering injuries (and teaching us how to properly say Matt Groening’s name). However, what truly made this game so great and my absolute favorite game that I have ever played is all the addicts and our awesome community. You have provided amazing information throughout the years. However, even more importantly you opened up the portal to thousands and thousands of like minded people who love the show and each other. Such a well run site, by people who gave us 12 years of their lives to help enrich ours. Sacrificing thousands and thousands of hours of their personal time, friend time and even family time to help all of us….for free. Not to mention the gobs of their own money that could have been used for their own personal or more importantly their own families benefit. Just for us, this crazy group of Simpson’s obsessed fan kids turned into fan adults and in many of our cases, old farts. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving this broken down disabled police officer a place to laugh when all I wanted to do was cry because of my physical and mental pain. Thank you for bringing us together and giving us such joy when so many of us wanted and needed it. As a community I don’t know if it is ever possible to thank all of the addicts enough for their selfless sacrifice for the good of people, most of which they never even knew in real life. But, as the stories and life shares are sent, hopefully you are able to see at least the tip of the iceberg of people’s lives that you have enriched and made better, each and everyday. While I am really sad and disappointed in so many ways about the plug being pulled. I am so full of joy for the past 11 1/2 years that I have been enriched by so many wonderful people who so selflessly worked so hard for all of us. You are all amazing people who have shown us all how to be amazing to everyone. Thank you all so very much.
Now that the game ends, I wish EA would give us an option to take a high quality picture of our towns to keep the memorys a bit at least, even if it would be 100MB+.
That’s my biggest request, too. Give us some resolution options and let folks choose, depending on the side they have in their device. My town is too large to look decent in the Town Portrait as it is now!
I have been playing since day 1. This game helped me through some of my hardest years, I would get lost and disconnect when my anxiety was at its worse.
I have been a simpsons fan since I was a little girl in Nicaragua in 1990, I have see. Every episode, and this game became so integral for me in my every day life. Recently I’ve been doing great and haven’t needed the security blanket of the game, but when I heard I cried.
It’s like loosing friends and family, hours I spent making this town, creating and building. Imagining, and dreaming. I am so sad. 12 years… countless hours, I feel so sad. Thank you all for your time and dedication. January will be here before we know it and this little town that saved me, will be gone. How I wish it wasn’t true, but it is.
