Finale Donut Update

Here is the latest from EA:

“We’ve just pushed out an update that fixes the disappearing donuts issue. The currency conversion offers have been returned to the store, and players will receive a fresh “donut rain” the first time they log in after this patch, since we also determined those went missing as well.”

  1. OMG I just realized that on the final splash screen Sky Finger is pointing to the SUNSET 😭 😭

  2. Best ending to a game ever. When I initially saw the update and announcement I felt deflated. TSTO has become such a part of my day. Like many I put up with the grinding, the occasional glitches and waits for the next update. I justified it all by how much I enjoyed the dialogue. I kept my game simple and basic. I bought donuts once a year in support, never went for donut farming, and was happy with my Springfield.

As the news sank in, and I worked through the final quest line, I put everything in context. It has been a spectacular run. If 12 years ago you said we would all be playing this long I don’t think many of us would have said highly unlikely.

Now for the massive positive. Great final dialogue — some of the the best in the history of the game. And a way to spend a couple of months virtually free playing however you want. Think about it, what could be a better way to end the game.

    • I agree, great dialogue to end what has been a very unique & enjoyable game to play over all these years.
I’ll admit I’ve been critical at times towards EA , especially when they dumned the updates down. However overall it’s been a worthwhile journey.

  3. I would definitely pay to keep playing, have played for over 10 years. First time commenting here, but have visited often for tips, info, etc. Best Game Ever. Once fans love a game, many of us are willing to ride through the lean, repetitive events. The years of past events have lived on for us along with all we made of the game, reliving for example the Super Hero Event and Radioactive Man and so many others. Now suddenly, “Sadly…” gone in 4 months? Each person has a different experience, granted ~ so more power to you if you are fine with this ~ but for many of us this is a horse of a different color. I would bet the players of TSTO are far more varied in types of people than many other games. I have no interest in Family Guy or SimCity, etc. Thanks for having the Live yesterday, this helped.

  4. I’m still playing even though it’s like bailing water while the Titanic is sinking. The completist in me wants to expand the town completely and spend my currency and donuts getting all the stuff I don’t have before the dreaded January kill date. I will probably do the time consuming task of screen grabbing my town and piecing it all into my town portrait for posterity. That said, I was hoping that maybe EA in one of its final thank you gestures will allow us to take a higher resolution “photo” of our towns.

  5. I know I’m grasping at straws and reading too much into virtually everything right now but is any hope to be taken from Lisa telling Homer to tell us this is not the end and that they’d see us again in another game at another time? Please say yes!!😳😢😭

  6. Despite the 9/27 message from EA about having resolving the lost donut problem, I lost 1300 donuts last evening when I left Tapped Out for an hour and then returned. 😠

  7. I don’t know if anyone has bothered to notice this since some have been playing since the game’s inception and likely have everything, but when you go to the store there’s no Taps Button. My Yearbook Mystery Box is also gone. Has anyone else noticed this?

    • Did you finish the questline ?
IIRC the store panel shows up after part 4 of the prizetrack, once you finish the 7 part intro.

  8. Thanks for all the work you put in to help us. I now have thousands of donuts but no land to put anything lol. I bought all the random walking characters.
Where do we go now? I tried the Futurama and family guy games but they didn’t compare.

  9. It all seems rather pointless continuing to play now.
Been waiting for Halloween and Christmas hoping things would improve.
    Meh.

  10. Hi all, have ALWAYS been a casual visitor of this site but never commented. I’d come here for answers to possible glitches, a sneak peak at upcoming premium characters etc. But now that this game will no longer be part of my life it’s like we are waking up in another dimension!!! Anyone who knows me KNOWS my obsession with this game (proud member of the over twelve years) club!!!!! 🤌🤌🤌 I too have asked my wife to watch over my Springfield if I were to die! lol… I remember I was about 2 years into this game and I had the BEST set up,,, my wife’s cousin who was 6 or 7 asked me if I had any games on my phone. I said I have only ☝️ game on my phone, it’s kinda different than anything you would play so just be careful not to spend actual money right?? This fool went and accidentally NUKED MY TOWN and TWO YEARS of trees, shrubbery, flowers, stops signs, water hydrants, light posts, benches, streets, ALLLLL ended up in my inventory!! I died inside and went ape on the drive home!! I had a legit panic attack! So that night I spent HOURS trying to replicate it, but it just wasn’t the same. Eventually it got so big and the updates didn’t always correlate well so I’d have pyramids next to the Wild West! All in though I’m grateful for the years of content and support from this community, not sure what life will be without this game, but I imagine I might actually get some work done lol. Cheers to the end of a golden era.

  11. Morgan Gustavsson

Here are 1300 donuts, thank you for playing over 12 years. What? Is that all? Btw I got the 1300 donuts twice since I didn’t lost the first ones yesterday. Anyway, really sad after playing almost every day (several times a day) for over 12 years. Thank you TSTO Addicts for all help to us other addicts! I REALLY hope they let us keep our towns off line so we can keep fixing them.

  12. I expect I’ll still have corn growing when the servers finally shut down.

  13. For those who say we should keep our towns, it really wouldn’t help. I can’t tell you how many apps I have downloaded that have become unusable as operating system updates are made. The owners (EA) would have to continue to support the game on multiple platforms and multiple operating systems. 10 years is amazing.

  14. I am totally devastated. I have over 241 000 donuts to spend! I played since the first day. Every single day. Never missed one. Except with time zones changes when traveling, it messed it up a bit. Words cannot express what I feel right now. And with all the new land I had such big plans. They should at least let us keep our towns even if they can’t add more challenges. This is the minimum they could do for us.

    • I agree with your feelings and thoughts that EA should at least allow active members to keep playing their individual games without updates. Unfortunately I was not aware of TSTO until about 8 years ago. I feel your disappointment. I play at least twice a day…it my way to relax. I wish they would tell us why. Is it because they are not making enough money? Too many inactive accounts? Too many complaints? A lack of new ideas for events? If they have a lack of ideas, I’m sure we could suggestion some. Programming staff leaving? Interesting Sunday episode was about Bart turning 11 and ended with him turning 10 again. I hope this is just some horrible joke or that EA changes their minds…

  15. Is anyone else missing a bunch of buildings?
My monorail depots are gone, Nuclear plant is gone, and a bunch of others. I wanted to have one final photo of my town but not if things are gone

  16. Thank you for the live update today: my head has been spinning and the pit in my stomach has only been growing larger. I’m starting to come to grips with it, but it doesn’t mean I like it.

I’ve read so many things on FB, Reddit, here, what people plan to do in the final months with their towns.

Can you guys post some of the best ideas that fans have to “preserve” their towns. I heard to taking a couple hundred screen shots and stitching them together, Safi’s ideas of blowing it up before hand and just put the graveyards out. What have you heard???

    Thanks,
Player, everyday, of over a decade
    -Steve

    • I heard someone said they were going to turn their Springfield town into a puzzle. 🧩 I am planning to do the same.

  17. Haven’t been able to log in my town the last couple of years. I want to play the last two months but how do I contact EA about being able to access my town. Thanks

  18. Wow! I’m done. I played the end of the game event. I read all of the dialogue and nearly cried. But I’m happy too. It seems so weird now. All of it. From the beginning of my time playing the game to today. It’s all very existential. What really matters in life? Playing the game was fun. Now it’s over. Life goes on…………………….

On a side note: I’ve decided not to make any of the characters go on anymore tasks. They need a break after all these years. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

One more thought: do you think EA will do one more final goodbye sometime before January 24, 2025? I kind of doubt it, but I wouldn’t put it past them to sneak in one more little gag before pulling the plug.

Have fun with life everyone. Move onto the next thing and be happy.

    As Homer said: “Bye.”

  19. I’m gonna miss this game so much!! Really the only game I do play and I told my kids if I ever passed they better keep my Springfield alive! Please don’t take The Simpsons Tapped Out Away🥲

  20. It’s pretty bittersweet to get to buy all these characters and things I never got to get the first time around. I’ve been playing since day 1 and some of this stuff, like the Bart Raven, I always thought I’d end up getting “some day.”

I suppose that day finally came. End of an era for sure, but I’ll keep tapping until the final day!

  21. I saw on the EA page that the current items available in the event “store” will refresh and more will be added every we know so until the end. It’s in the post on the EA page about the game ending or the FAQs, I can’t recall which.

  22. I bought over 11,000 donuts with the in game money I had left and then it glitched and now I’m down to where I was before but my money is still gone. So frustrating.

  23. So sad , enjoyed playing

  24. Why don’t they just come up with a new pricing model? We know it costs money to run and maintain. I am guilty of not spending much despite playing daily for over 12 years, level 939 max money etc. I would happily subscribe to play per month or annually if it was offered.

    • My thoughts exactly! At a $1 a month to no more than $20 a year, EA would make lots of money and keep most of happy. Sad to see this end. It’s been my favourite pass time.

  25. Maybe everyone should nuke their town now and with all the donuts we’re getting you could build a new dream Springfield with everything you could ever wish for from over the years?

  26. So sad that it’s coming to an end after so many years o found out when I logged in and saw the screen and I was like this screen is kinda sad what event might this be and why is Lisa and Maggie saying good bye. Then it went into the game and it all made sense 😔 this game has been part of my daily routine since game came out.

  27. I was sad we didn’t see Bunny at the live today…was she not available?

  28. i’m with you Rob. If it was truly the end, they would have made all premium characters available for purchase. I don’t see any newly available past characters.

  29. I still refuse to believe this isnt a ruse for THOH…

if it is real tho, I question the legalities…for those of us that spent REAL money on content, removing access to said content i.e. shutting down the server wouldnt be legal I don’t think.

  30. I *thought* my donut amounts were weird but I wasn’t sure!
