Tidings Triste Tappers!

Over the past 12 years, The Simpsons Tapped Out has taken us on an amazing journey. But now that journey is coming to an end.
Or put another way, the game has an imminent death that we just learned about 3 Thursday’s ago. So let’s take time over the coming weeks to process.
Swiss-American psychiatrist Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross introduced the most commonly taught model for understanding the psychological reaction to imminent death in her 1969 book titled On Death and Dying. The book explored the experience of dying through interviews with terminally ill patients and outlined the “Five Stages of Death” (now commonly referred to as the “Five Stages of Grief”): denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (DABDA).
So let’s continue with the NIH definition of Bargaining.
Bargaining typically manifests as patients seeking some measure of control over their illness. The negotiation could be verbalized or internal and could be medical, social, or religious. The patients’ proffered bargains could be rational, such as a commitment to adhere to treatment recommendations or accept help from their caregivers, or could represent more magical thinking, such as efforts to appease misattributed guilt they may feel is responsible for their diagnosis. While bargaining may mobilize more active participation from patients, health care providers and caregivers should take care not to mislead patients about their own power to fulfill the patients’ negotiations. Again, caregivers and providers do not need to repeatedly correct bargaining behavior that seems irrational but should recognize that participating too heartily in a patient’s bargains may distort their eventual understanding.
In terms of Tapped Out, I experienced bargaining after anger. I just felt there was something that could be done. If I paid a certain amount, could they keep the game going? But this stage lasted less than half an hour. I realized it was happening and texted Alissa to confirm she received the email as well.

Not sure why they don’t just make all the items free at this stage and let us build to our heart’s content. Servers cost money to run and dvelopers cost money to keep the gane working through OS updates. I get it. Just why do I still have to earn money and doughnuts?
Just open up the inventory and let the players who have been playing for years finally finish our character sets as we put the final touches on their towns.
Disappointed graham by some of these posts, don’t know were they belong but not here, this for me is for the simpsons tapped out, nothing else, no politics, no squabbles about whatever, sorry but be more strict…
Does anyone know if they will be releasing animated jobs that weren’t received during an event?
I was hoping when grampasaurus was release I could get the job for Lisa “Ride in an exploration pod” but unfortunately it does not appear after purchasing him. I tried buying the escape pod decoration and Lisa still doesn’t show the job. Any ideas welcome.

I’m going through all the characters and I’m stuck on The Great Raymondo’s questline because I was not given the Famous Milk Can. Is there an answer to this glitch?
I took Graham’s advice and read Safi’s post. What a great read, as always. I’m looking forward to learning more about this book.. “Of Death and Dying”.., seems to be right up my alley, and may be relatable to my life’s circumstances right now. Also interesting factoid about the 5 stages of death changing to 5 stages of grief. Weird.
I never even considered bargaining when I learned of the games imminent demise. Maybe that has to do with the amount of loss some people experience in their lives, that it becomes a forgone conclusion that there is no bargaining. For me…loss of a “game”, or something more, is a chance for reflection, gratitude, and acceptance.
So thank you Safi for this post, and for Graham for reminding me to keep it relevant.
Almost forgot….thanks again to Safi for using a word I was not familiar with. Triste?….yes Mike has been triste for a long time…lol….I always call it general malaise….or one of my favorite albums ever…Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness by the great Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins….Gish is one of my all time favorite records. Pieces Escariot is also tremendous….

Why can’t they just keep the server running indefinitely? Was there a licensing issue? I wish they would tell us after playing the game for so long. I hate that we’re left with an abrupt end and no explanation. There’s no bargaining or debate or anything. EA just said it’s over and live with the decision to shutdown right before Halloween and Christmas. EA sucks and I don’t know how anyone could support them after doing this to us.
A little sad but pretty accepting here. Really enjoying the extra content, reminds me of all the different storylines throughout the years.
Having played everyday since day one, there are times this game is the reason I was up and moving. Gotta get that daily challenge! Sometimes finding an internet connection to play has been challenging but I always found a way in all my travels.
Things I wish I would have done……. Screenshots of more splash screens and level up quips. There is a way to get plates made and I think a collection of tapped out would be cool but I haven’t quite pulled that all together yet.

If, like me – you have part of a set of charactgers that are now being released in bundles, you’re stuck with being unable to complete the set. Does anybody know whether these characters will be released unbundled too? I am missing Mumbles from The Ruffians and i’m really hoping I don’t wind up with everything but that one random obscure Ruffian because of a weird technicality. That would be most upsetting hah. I tried asking EA for support as the bundle is in the store now, so I figured maybe they could delete the 2 characters I have and give me the ability to buy the bundle again in the store, but they can’t understand what I want sadly!
If any of you remember “Mr. Auto Correct”, I’m still around several years later, mourning the loss of this great game.
As the Great Wimpy would bargain…I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday…for more playing time today. Now I want a burger….but guess what…the Customs/Border Patrol..however you call them in you area…needed a new state of the art facility in this pathetic attempt of a town. And in doing so…confiscated the land/building housing our McDonalds. The only real fast food within 25 miles…I know..hard to believe, but all true. Im running out of effort
I can’t believe the little you Addicts have done to try to save this game. You have posts but don’t like to the Petition, you’re not rallying the other addicts to pressure EA into keeping the game going. No mention of having a server or paying a subscription. Nothing on steps to save the game.

Many have mentioned petitions, and have attempted to rally people to the cause. Many have also mentioned their willingness to pay a subscription. If you read the posts when this announcement was made, you would have noticed that.
Now…explain what YOU have done to “save” the game. I’m anxious to hear any proposal you have that others have not mentioned previously.

I was not meaning what individual players are doing to save this game, but the people who run the group TSTO Addicts which is the most popular TSTO group. I haven’t seen any links to petitions or anything to rally players to the cause. They have to sign a non-disclosure agreement NDA so they must have a contact within EA that we can complain to and present a business case. This game still must be profitable for EA so we all should be able to convince EA to keep the game going, for example through a subscription or whatever.
Does it not occur to you that anyone subject to an NDA has to watch what they say to some degree, but a player has more freedom to express these things.
I do know Alissa and Safi have some posts in the works, but not the full details of what those are or when they will go up.
I also have an idea in progress, but that is taking longer than I thought to prepare. I’d rather delay than rush out a badly written rough draft post and make a mess of it.
Meanwhile if anyone has anything constructive that you think may help, like that petition, feel free to comment with those ideas or links** and we’ll publish those comments.

This game is history, no petitions will change that fact!! I suspected that the game was ending when they put out the building that made Desert Planet Sculptures, there is no way they would let anyone collect 2.5 bonus percentage points every four hours. Now that donuts are cheap, players can now collect huge amounts of them.
EA will never make money trying to sell them for real cash. I hope I am wrong but I don’t think anything will be able to stop the game from ending in January.
Doesn’t matter….we’re all gonna be….unalive…soon anyway. Anyone with half a brain can see that…there will soon be riots in the streets again..it’s very very soon that we will not even be able to trust our own eyes. Have you seen those metamorphosis masks…check them on the u tube…amazing stuff, scary, if they can do that…imagine what the Company can do. If Ronald McDonald becomes the new Mayor McCheese, the fry guys and others will burn down cities and start the massive looting all over again. If Birdie wins..then The McDonalds and the Hamburglers will say bring on the suits. I’m 50..which to some is old, to others young. I’ve been following the cycles..especially the 80yr one. Very important right now. We are heading into a new, and in my opinion, terrifying new age. Old Slick Willys unfortunate wife said it a week or 2 maybe 3 ago….if Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc…don’t regulate what is said or posted on their sites, then “We’ve lost Control”. Look it up…it’s right there for everyone to see and hear. Graham…please allow this…it is social commentary, not political, and may even affect sites like TSTO Addicts in the future.

Yess im bargaing about the simpsons tapped out. I’m playing now for some 3,4years and it helped me through a difficult tim,e, and in the crazy presents , keeps me relax in stress of when i couldnr sleep in the night .so for me isnt just a game , its happy tiime you know. Still i wish maybe threy are making a newer version an i could playing more maybe on my switch or something else… I dont know . So i play ti the last day an make some video for the memory.
