Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Wow, you all had a lot to say about getting the chance to play TSTO again! It’s clear that we all miss our beloved pocket-sized towns. With the exciting news that The Simpsons has been renewed for another 4 years and the rumor of a new LEGO Krusty Burger release this summer, it’s safe to say the appetite for our favorite yellow family is still going strong!
So here’s the deal: I’m on it! The team behind the private server is hard at work fixing bugs and making it compatible with iOS. Right now, there’s an APK version available for Android, and I’m planning to test it out on BlueStacks. I won’t share anything with you until I’ve tested it myself—I want to make sure it’s good to go for all of you.
In the meantime, rest assured it’s in the works. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share detailed instructions with you all soon so we can bring our towns back to life.
Quick note: When I refer to the “private server” here, I’m talking about a server not run by EA. This will be hosted on an alternative server, so you won’t need to download it to your computer. You’ll be able to play it just like you did before, with no extra hassle.
And for those of you asking—yes, it is possible to restore your original town, even if you didn’t save it before the game was taken off EA’s servers. You can visit https://towns.spanser.dev/, which has a massive list of over 3 million TSTO towns. Search for your username, and if your town is listed, you can download the save files. Once that’s done, you’ll be able to upload your game to the private server version.
So check to see if your town is available and stay tuned for more updates!

I found my town and it has my level and when i first started playing back in 2014. So i have played for 10 years. This is all good news that we could play once again. If i can play again i would be able to finish my gold road thats is by my heaven area. Have a great evening and a great weekend.
Just felt like checking in to say “hello”. I just came back from …the future…and believe it or not, it gets hmmm…tremendously worse? Although…one good thing is that it was relatively quick..for most. I hope everyone continues playing the game on the private servers…my Springfield is safely on a “quality piece of PAPER..well scanned…and in a great poster frame”…as opposed to whatever it is you futurists do…

Mom is doing well so far (knock wood, kineahora) and I’m generally fine, other than recovering from a root canal and preparing for another procedure to get a crown for that tooth. It’s especially vexing that I not only have had to deal with a lot of pain, but, when all is said and done, I will have paid about $1K for that fun experience (and that’s *with* dental insurance!). And the right side of my mouth is so jealous of the left side, which has gotten to have all the flavors for the past month, since I’m only chewing on that side. 😔😄 But, oh well…c’est la vie and there are a lot of way worse things I could be having to deal with.

Not much has changed in my life….which is how I prefer it actually. My Mom is hanging in there..besides the Parkinson’s…her legs are starting to get extremely weak. She has finally taken my advice and has started using one of those pedaling devices..not much resistance, but the movement is hopefully helping. Thank you for asking.
Sorry to hear about your mom! Is she eligible for free, at-home PT via Medicare? My mom’s had some really great PT and OT folks come work with her at home.
I hope the private server idea comes to fruition for us all Tappers. I’ve played tsto since it was released, so when it closed it was like losing a limb, it was a huge part of my life (as sad as that sounds) so I do hope we’re all able to play again soon.

Found my town and downloaded it. Started playing October 29, 2014 – last played Jan 20, 2025 – play time 1 Year, 347 days, 6 hours, 41 minutes, 1 second
Were would I download the apk file for tsto and what is discord?
If I have the game still installed on my tablet will I still need the .apk file?
The old genuine APK will keep trying, and failing, to connect to the old servers
Discord is a free communication service targeted towards young adults, and is usually the choice for communication in projects like this.
Alissa, I think the route to go is to open a server for all the users of this site. I know that to connect to a server with Tapped out, you need to change the IP address in the code that it’s connecting to (I might be wrong), but you guys can set up a server that will always be on, and even better, since many people would be using the same server, we could still friend other people! Of course, I don’t know a whole lot about this, but that’s just what I think is a good idea for you guys to do. You can be the donutteam to our tapped out. (Yes, I’ve played hit and run. I still think tapped out’s better though)
WordPress can’t be configured to create or run a server like that.

No, I’m saying to set up a server on a different device and explain how to connect to it. You guys likely have computers, I’ve seen your streams- you specifically have a desktop. I know WordPress can’t run a server.
A home computer and personal broadband won’t do it either.
That would work for one user, perhaps even 3 or 4, but no more than that.
You’d need thousands of dollars worth of hardware and a connection way better than any cable provider offers it’s customers.
You’d basically need to be the cable provider.
Ah, alright. Makes sense I guess. This website has its fans, but not enough to pay for something like that. Maybe some rich Tapped out fan will come in clutch? 🙁

The information from teamtsto says to configure the IP so you can connect to a server hosted on that IP. Can’t tstoaddicts just host a server like that? You’d just need an old laptop, and since the average user here has likely no clue how to hack someone’s computer, you won’t have to worry. If you guys are really scared, just do a factory reset on the old device. If the charges are excessive, then host a Patreon.

For those of us who can not find our towns on that site, has anyone heard of any good procedures for extracting our towns from an android phone?
You’d have to go through the files and copy it. Wait for more information if you don’t know how to do that
Yeah, I figured as much. I’ve been looking at ways to do it, but it looks like we need a utility to access the files on the phone and I’m not sure which one to trust. If I had a disposable PC and phone I could use, it wouldn’t be an issue, but I don’t want to randomly download stuff and infect my main PC/phone with something.
I still have my game on my tab and phone, I also have downloaded the 3.5mb from spanser, will I need any other software or apps to proceed once Alissa has tested everything 🤔
I found my town in the list niceblade1406 it was 1.9mb unrecognized file format. I’m running Android 12.

This won’t restart TSTO on your phone. It’s just your game save data. So don’t do anything with it yet…

How do I search all the files, there only seems to be 10,000 showing for me not millions of towns?
Use the search function to locate your town using you ea user name
I tried with my account doesn’t do anything just ask me to open with the options then nothing se ds me elsewhere on tapped out so what do I do doesn’t download or anything

I’m not having any luck finding my town. The website says to search using your EA Origin name but I’m not sure what that is. I tried searching using my EA account ID but that comes up empty.
This is amazing news, found my file and can’t wait to try it out and play again.

Wow.. I feel a bit slighted not getting any credit for posting literally everything in the first post above over the last couple weeks. :-/
Why would you feel slighted? I’ve known about the possibility of these servers since they announced TSTO was ending, and I’ve been following along for quite awhile. You might be surprised to know, i’m shockingly well versed in all things TSTO. Very rarely do people post brand new information (at least to me) in comments. Just because we don’t write a post about something, doesn’t mean we don’t know what’s going on. Sometimes we choose not to post things because we haven’t tested it ourselves, or we don’t want to have a loophole (or in this case servers) shutdown. Not to pay myself on the back, but that’s really not who I am, but this is a MASSIVE platform. The second I post stuff here it does end up on the radar of EA, FOX, Disney, Gracie, etc. So a lot of times, we don’t post things because we want readers to be able to take advantage of something. It’s never been about “clicks” and going viral here. It’s always been about the members of this community, and helping them get the most out of TSTO.
I wrote these posts because the people from several servers came to me and we’ve been discussing. I wanted to see what the interest was from this site’s perspective. Your comments were posted, not ignored.
I’m not claiming to take credit for any of this. I just have a large platform to promote it, and I don’t take that platform lightly. I don’t promote things I don’t personally test and verify myself. Not sure why you would feel slighted about it…
That archival website is quite interesting! It’s too bad we can’t sort the list by file size; I think mine might possibly be one of the bigger ones. (I’m sure the TSTO Addict elites all have bigger files than me… but I think I might be up there, eh?)
It is also interesting that sorting by play time reveals quite a few… “anomalies”, for lack of a better word?
