Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

Hey there all you Lucky Charms!

Bouncing by just for the fun of it to give you a lil change of subject for the day. Today in the U.S.A. is March 17th aka St. Patrick’s Day. Where many put on some kind of Green Colored Clothing, participate in some kind of Green Ale Drinking, and make a feast of food they may not normally eat. (At least that’s how a lot of my friends do it. Lol.)

Now, I know that those of you closer to the actual Holiday origination have issue with those of us on the “other side of the pond” calling it St. Pat’s or St. Patty’s. So here is a quick rundown as to why. The name Patrick shortened is Pat for us. Patricia shortened is Patty, but I have also seen Patty used for Patrick as well. This being instilled in our brains since childhood has made it so many look at the name and use the standard abbreviation of what WE are used to. Just think of many different spellings of a word depending on culture and pronunciation. Color/Colour, Grey/Gray, Herb/Herb (I know some of you pronounce the H while others do not). Just keep in mind it is not meant in harm or as an insult, just a reflection of just how different and unique each of us are. It is what makes each of us the amazing people we are, because we are different. So don’t take things TOO seriously when someone is just speaking as they were taught. We do not mean to offend at all. In then end, it is much funner to just go grab a pint together… right? 😉

Anywho, no matter how YOU say it or Celebrate it… I want to know how YOU spend a Holiday such as this one. What do YOU do? Any kind of traditions? Bonus points for those that post a pic in full on traditional clothing. 😉  (Love a guy in a kilt.)

  1. I kilt some beers tonight. Does that count?

  2. This is the first year that my husband didn’t make us corned beef for St. P’s day, but that’s only because,, last week, he made some corned pork, FROM SCRATCH! I mean he corned it himself! It came out really great – the taste of corned beef with the texture of ham. Yum!

  3. I’ve got Irish ancestry on both sides of my family, one side from Dublin and the other from Co Kerry. We’ve never done anything to celebrate St Patrick’s Day but hope that everyone who does has a good time 😉

  4. I wish I could have a pint of Beamish right now…or ever again.

  5. Ah, the luck of the 50% Irishman!
I finally got to kiss er i mean tap a Bunny er i mean tap a Bunny’s town and i liked it!! LOL
Thanks Bunny for removing some of those radioactive signs! ;))

  6. *wonders if wookie is traditional under that kilt* ; )

  7. I am half Irish and half Scottish! Celebrating with a pint of the good black stuff and a whiskey chaser lol : )

  8. A Blessed St Patrick’s Day everyone !
I am Irish and German! 😉
Hell of a combo LOL! 🙂

  9. Having an Irish family heritage and Boston as my home town means St. Patricks Day is a big holiday for me! The parade (biggest in the US) green river, green beer, great music, great food and of course great people! Time for some traditional Irish food, great ale and a great hockey game on tonight! Happy St. Patricks Day everyone!! May you all find your gold at the end of the rainbow!! 🍀🍻🌈🍀🍻🍀

    • So happy that our parade choose to be more “inclusive” this year! 🙂

Which part of Boston are you in? I live in the Allston/Brighton/Brookline area for about 8 or 9 years, but have been living in the ‘burns for the past 25 years or so. Don’t make it into town too often these days…parking’s such a b****. But I sometimes miss my old stomping ground, especially now that Allston has seemed too become a Mecca for inexpensive international cuisine!

  10. I learnt i have Irish ancestory on my mums side some years ago, so now i have an excuse to get a kiss me im irish shirt..lol

  11. Hi,

Good luck trying to find any legitimate person from Ireland in a kilt today, Bunny! Much more a Scots thing that. Anyway, what do us lot do today? Well, parades and your stereotypical pints of black I guess (without the dreaded ‘touristy’ shamrock head, I hasten to add). Enjoy your day y’all.

Paul, Belfast (the original city…and the best!!)

    • Lol. Many of my Irish relatives dress in as well as perform in their kilts. More a traditional look though. They do differ from the Scottish. 😉

  12. Some people where I’m from like to call ot St Paddy’s day 😀 lol.

  13. I’m in England and don’t celebrate. I am one-eighth Irish, but I don’t think that’s enough to justify it! Nice to see Tom O’Flanagan and his pub getting some use in the game though 🙂

  14. Yeah, a lot of times I get things wrong too but, personally, I like to be corrected so I don’t make the same mistake in the future. Sometimes we are taught things that are incorrect, having those put right is a good thing. Learning shouldn’t stop when you leave school.

Oh, and don’t take offence! I *am* just kidding – I wish there were a way I could put my sarcastic, joking tone of voice into the words I type! I have heaps of American, Aussie, Kiwi, Canadian, etc friends who almost constantly bait each other for the differences in language we all use – it’s not the highest level of humour but we simple souls never seem to tire of it 😀

  15. What do I do to celebrate St Patrick’s Day? Nothing, as I’m not Irish.

    • i’m not irish, but you best believe i’ll be partaking in some corned beef and cabbage, washed down with plenty of guinness. happy st patrick’s day!

  16. Living at the east side of the pond, I don’t celebrate St.-Pat’s.
I don’t like the green stuff, but I DO love the brown-black stuff 😀

  17. Merci , à vous aussi !
Bonne fête de la France !
