So break out those Christmas gift cards and stock up on donuts because there are brand new premium items in our stores! Now I know you may be trying to decide if these are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the Bear Cave to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this hibernation haven to your town!

Pros:
-One way to keep a bear hanging around your Springfield even after the event

-Pricey for a decoration with only a .75% bonus
-Not animated

Honestly this is a complete pass in my opinion. It does nothing for you and serves no purpose in Springfield…other than sitting there. In my opinion this is over priced and just not worth it.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell I’ll be passing completely on this one. However, remember this is limited-time. So if you’re thinking about getting it make sure you do so before the event ends.

It really needs an animation. It’s small and just doesn’t seem right without any kind of animation to it. Definitely pass unless you are like me and buy everything that is limited time.
I’m thinking the hibernation may be what’s going on. If you have an NPC bear walking amongst the ones you tap to get pacifiers it would get really annoying. Unfortunately for those on the fence we won’t know until the event is over then people will freak they didn’t get it.
Good point. But why not solve the problem by not offering it until afterwards like they have with all other NPCs. Therefore I don’t expect it to become NPC, to walk around freely.
I have no expectations. I don’t think, I just buy. I’m a good little American that way. If offered I’ll buy another NPC bear, whatever, I just love the game
Honestly, I wish I could play like you. If this were a non-mobile game it would assuredly let you get everything that is offered. I play the game as it is, so I have to be okay that sometimes I can’t get things.
I wish I could play like you. Not recently but in the past I chose pixel doughnuts over real food. I’m pathetic like that.
I don’t understand. It’s better to consume pixels than calories, no? I’ll admit that I sometimes overeat. I balance that out with stints of starvation. I might be considered “unhealthy”.

I have a large, forested area and I’m a sucker for anything that will fit in there, so I had to pick this up.

I got it prior to this posting and although I don’t regret it, I was disappointed that there wasn’t any animation. I figure to put it in my deep woods someplace. 😉 it’s got a thumbs up to the stupid igloo I crafted. Lol and seeing the bear with a pacifier in it’s mouth at the end of the quest gave me a chuckle.
I know that they are only imaginary, but I would love some Bear Patrol tie-ins with this.
I was really hoping that it would be a cave with a bear in the picture, like how buildings show the character with it in the shop. It wasn’t, so I knew better. I wanted it, so that’s all there is to it. I just have an affinity for it. Yes, I hope for a post-hibernation animation, but either way, it does look good in my town. It’s in the camping area. 😀
I still have enough left over for getting Ling…if there isn’t an offer for an NPC of the pacifier bear. Then I really hope it is 30 or so…
I bought it not realizing it didn’t really do anything and now I regret it. Oh well!
Ok, so I still haven’t gotten to play Maggie’s mini game yet! Ugh! Im only on part 13 of the event- which is funny, because I play every few hours. I don’t get how so many have gotten through the event parts so fast- donuts?? If someone has any tips for how they got through the 22 part quest please let do tell. Thank you!
Well, total time to get through the Maggie quest line is about 154 hours (if my math/task timing is right) without using donuts, assuming you have all characters available to send on the specific tasks at the right time. So if someone was playing relentlessly, losing sleep, etc. they would be done in approx. 6 1/2 days. If you started Sat. Jan 2, that puts you at completion sometime on Fri Jan 8, best case scenario. I currently just sent Mr. Burns on part 14, so that projects to me being done around Monday or Tuesday. Still plenty of time to play the Maggie game for about a week.
Well, I have been playing relentlessly and not sleeping well, and I’ll be done in a couple hours, so your math seems accurate.
Thank you so much! Breaking it down like that really helps a lot. I’m thinking that the problem is I only play on my IPad, so when I’m away from the house with work ect- I am neglecting it. So, I’m just going to reinstall it on my phone lol. Can’t let real life get in the way of my virtual world hahaha!
This might not be anything you don’t already know but here is what I do. I keep all my characters free so no one is ever not available for the main quest. Then I set timers for when the task will end so I don’t lose any time there either. Except if it was to wake me up at a ridiculous hour. Occasionally if the task will end at 3am and it’s 11pm and it only takes 2 donuts to finish it I will do it to start the next task while I sleep to get a head start for the next day. I think using donuts to speed things up is a waste so I rarely do it. I like getting through the main quest asap so I can do what I want with my characters when it’s over. 🙂
I used donuts on some of them yes. Hopefully they keep the game even after the Christmas event ends which I think there is a probability that they will since they kept it for the railyard.

I guess this time he’s going to eat me, as I have to pass on this for 100 donuts. 🍩🐻

As soon as I saw the bears in my town I said to myself “self you want one of those!” So I really hope it does wake up and wonder round town like they are at the minute, but I’m gonna hold my donuts for a little longer before I take the plunge! Being a mostly freemium player (except for gift vouchers) donuts aren’t easy to come by!!
I got the bear because I have the perfect spot for him. I hope he dose something in the spring! If not he still looks really cute.
I’m still on the fence on this one. I would really like to see a return of the falls…do you suppose that is possible?
It’s one of the most desired items and seeing as others have returned, I would say it’s deifnitely a possibility. As for when… noone knows but EA.
For 100 donuts i really think theres more in store. I dont wanna miss out but its quite steep. Hmmmmm….few days to ponder….🐻
Changing the subject…..I’m currently on “The end of the beginning”, part 21. I’ve received R.O.S.A. Everything is moving along slowly but surely. When I click on her it says “waiting for something to do”, and she whirs and clicks, but no task menu pops up. Is she supposed to have a set of tasks?
Not right now.
I already said it on another thread, ….that’s not hibernation, that’s an expensive decoration …anyone who thinks the bear will wake up is going to be disappointed
However, in previous events, didn’t they offer a souvenir NPC for about 30 d🍩nuts (mutant seed, and zombie) in the takedown update,
so they might offer a Merrymaker and a bear when the event ends

The reason I commented was because I didn’t want to see people waste 1🍩🍩 d🍩nuts on the speculation that the bear might ever wake up and do anything
but go ahead spend 100 donuts everyone, the bear might wake up in the spring and walk about with a full set of tasks, 🙂
Weren’t you commenting that to someone that already spent the 100 D? If you really did intend that comment for others that haven’t pulled the trigger, then I agree with pointing that out to them.
You must be trying to be silly saying that they’d make it an NPC (or even PC) bear. I don’t think anyone was “wishing” for that, just that it might move in the cave. Jesting us you must? 😛
On the flip side, wouldn’t it be wrong not to inform people of the possible changes EA might (and has) made to items we purchase? The sticking point is obviously the 100 D, so caution and grounded thinking should be heeded before spending. Both of these views are needed. Just, maybe with more tact. “May” versus “will be” disappointed. All I can say is…that I’m not getting my donuts back, so I’m enjoying it for what it is and for the hope of future changes (that aren’t too unlikely).
They didn’t offered the turkey (which I really would have loved), so I worry the bear might be the same way. I’m with you about the “hibernation”, I think that would be a long shot……. but that would be totally awesome if it did happen.
I’m saving my donuts for Barney. This can’t even come anywhere close to a top 100 for me.

There are so many other bears I would have liked to see than this generic one: Paddington, Yogi, Teddy, Berenstain, Gummy, Fozzie, Pooh, Pedo, Baloo, Smokey, Brer Bear, Grylls, Care and Most importantly Bobo.
Despite the pros and cons, I bought the bear cave anyway. I’m usually frugal with my donuts, but It’s small and unique. Placed it next to the ski lodges and ski lift. I like it!

Even if it does come out of hibernation, this is too expensive.
I notice that this cave, Springfield Gorge, and Mt. Carlmore all look like they’re made of the same type of rock, and they are all quite expensive for what they do. Seems a little odd.

I don’t see that on my game.
My thought process is they released the other animal enclosures for 30 donuts and they all came with a stagnant animal. This one cost more than 3 times that and also came with a stagnant animal. So the only logical thing to consider is that the bear isn’t stagnant and will wake up soon 🙂

Hmm? When you click on the Zoo extensions they wiggle and move. Different interpretation of “stagnant”?
My comment on another post was that we got a hibernating bear. It’s winter. Therefore, the bear will wake up when the snow melts. *eternal hope*
Also, the cave came with a 0.75% bonus, which the extensions didn’t. Might have paid more for that.
I just meant stagnant as in they aren’t NPCs/playable characters. And I never considered the bigger bonus. The extensions came with a 0.05% bonus so i hope they don’t consider a .75% bonus worthy of 100 donuts…
I’m really hoping this is the case…. and I”m hoping they let us know if it has any future potential BEFORE they remove it from the store.
I think that if the plan is for it to wake from hibernation, it’s really unfair of EA not to say so or hint in the description. As is, I really love the look of him, and he would go great in my North Pole / ski resort area, but I will be passing this time.
Totally agree. They made that mistake with kid’s Halloween costumes. I passed because they had so few tasks, after Halloween they added more but it was too late to buy them.

I think velvet was referring to the Lisa saxophone/Martin wizard/Milhouse Radioactive Man costumes that had hardly any tasks during THOH but got a full task list once the event was over.

Thanks!! I’m on my way to an actual design on the pier. I’ll post a pic here when I have the layout (of the buildings) arranged to my liking. I have seen some people use the ornate tiles in some good way. (Egotistically, I was the first!! (that is, before I saw anyone else do it I had it “accenting” my pier))
I’ll be keeping my eye in it. Can’t wait to see it finished!

So grateful that you are posted this. I think the bear is cute, and I love bears, but if it doesn’t have tasks I’m passing.
It does look really cool. But it’s like they are trying to not make it worth our while to buy it, you know? It provides no income, barely offers a bonus, and adds to vanity. What a shame. 🙁
I really was hoping to keep a bear in my town after this event, but I was thinking I might go as high as 30-35 donuts for it. 100 for a bear and cave is a little steep. Does anyone know if the bear wanders through the town or stays in the cave all the time?
For now… it just hibernates in there. As to future plans… you never know with EA. Look what they did with a lot of the NPC’s that did nothing when first released, they now have tasks.

That is such a shame! The bear has so much potential to be a character in its own right…here’s hoping we get offered one as an ncp instead but I was really hoping for at least one animation with Maggie or homer! Disappointed. ..

This was a total rip off. I should’ve waited for this sib. The only saving grace…it is winter & bears do hibernate. So, maybe when the snow is gone he’ll be roaming around.

We will not know until after the Event if it will come out of “Hibernation”
