Should You Buy Gil’s Radioactive Man Movie Set?

Updated with Audio from the Film Set Below

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Everyone’s favorite down on his luck salesman is back in Springfield!  Yes, that’s right Old Gil has returned to our towns and this time he’s got a heck of an “opportunity” for you!

Yes, during these final days of the Superhero Sequel Event Gil is rolling out the Radioactive Man movie set…you know the one where Radioactive Man gets swept up in a wave of acid.  Because hey…everyone else has gotten Super, why not Wolfcastle too?

This deal hit our games overnight, sorry I was busy snoozing…so let’s take a look at what happened while I was sleeping…

Gil

So when you first logged into your pocket sized Springfields this morning you may have noticed Gil waving his arms around (as if he was trying to land an airplane…) trying to get your attention. (please I beg ya, you gotta help me get this plane down) ..kinda like this:

Gil Kneeling

Either he’s trying to get your attention, or he just scored the winning goal the World Cup

Anyway….when you finally decide to tap on Old Gil he’ll give you his latest pitch for something you really don’t need…like those people at the electronic stores that try to sell you a $10 warranty on a $15 clock radio…

So now that I’ve gone completely off the rails…back to what Gil’s latest sales pitch…

Gil: Hey you, do you remember the epic acid scene from the Radioactive Man movie, starring Rainer Wolfcastle?  C’mon, you know the one…Fallout Boy’s missing and Radioactive Man gets swept up in a wave of acid?  Good Ol’ Gil’s got some good ol’ news for you!  The production company is going to re-shoot the scene from the director’s cut-a-rooni!  And for a very small cost, you’ll get to direct the scene yourself!  I’m sure Fallout Boy will show up this time…bad things never happen twice in Springfield…except for Ol’ Gil. Even if they do, you’ll get to see Rainier Wolfcastle suffer from acid injuries again and again! Don’t worry about him, he’s got a super-duper health insurance plan. And me…I rely on two boxes of Band-Aids and a carton of cough syrup.

If you refuse…

Gil: Well, suit yourself.  We’re not all cut out to be film directors.

If you accept….

Gil: hot diggety-dog-diggety-doo!  You’re not gonna regret it.  I’ll even throw in some “acid resistant” goggles….

And here’s everyone’s favorite…the Should I Buy portion of this post….

710px-Radioactive_Man_Movie_Set

Building: Radioactive Man Movie Set
Donut Price: 150 Donuts
Size: 9×20
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100
Earns: Earns $300, 30xp/12hrs

Leaves Stores on July 26th….

Pros:
-Comes with a questline, 1 part
-Animated always, acid bubbles..
-Wolfcastle has a permanent 30 minute (after questline is complete, prior to that it’s 6s)  task there with a visual animation (acid spills out on him)
-When task is complete the audio has Wolfcastles famous “my eyes” line (audio is below)

Cons:
-Massive in size, takes up a ton of room in Springfield
-Animation with Wolfcastle isn’t constant, really only happens when you finish the task
-Over priced for what it is/does

Final Thought:
Premium:
It’s ok but it’s not great.  Like most Gil deals it is over priced.  And honestly, I’m not that impressed with the animation.  It’s ok but it’s nothing to write home about.  It’s one of those premium splurges…if you like it and want it grab it.  Otherwise I’d save my money.

Freemium:
Don’t waste your donuts on this one.  It’s absurdly priced for what it is/does.  Save your donuts, save your time…save your sanity.  Avoid this one.

Of course in the end we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do, the final decision is up to you.  But I can tell you this is not in my Springfield, nor will it be in the near future.  Whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our stores on July 26th….

Here’s a look at the short questline that comes with it….

Acid Here Waiting for You
Wolfcastle starts

Wolfcastle: Ok, so the production company vants to re-shoot the acid scene.  This time, you von’t disappear, vill you?
Milhouse: Um… uh… no, you can count on me, I think…
Wolfcastle: My perfect butt vas so burned they had to use a stunt butt stand-in to finish the scene.  It burns me more knowing it’s not my butt on the big screen.
Milhouse: I completely understand… although not really.
Make Rainer Wolfcastle Re-Shoot the Acid Scene- 6s, Earns $50, 2xp
Make Milhouse Disappear Again- 8hrs, Earns $275, 70xp
Wolfcastle: Only Fallout Boy can save me now… … Oh, Mist, not again!
On job complete
Wolfcastle: Argh, Milhouse… you messed up again!
Milhouse: It’s too much pressure! I’m not a real hero, I’m just a kid.
Wolfcastle: Don’t beat yourself up. Let villains do that for you.

And here are a couple of screen grabs to kind of show you the animation…

And that’s it my friends, the full rundown, and Should You Buy, for the Radioactive Man Movie Set…

  1. goes well with the one week wonder films.

  2. If you’re thinking about this, remember Sidekick Milhouse was a mere 35 donuts during Superheroes 1. I really want the skin, but the added 115 donut expense is really not justifiable.

  3. Thanks for the fast post! I was looking forward to this and thought I would likely get it. but the animation for the donuts is really disappointing. Oh well I’ll keep saving the sprinkles.

  4. I’d so love to buy this. When I created my B town 3 years ago, I actually picked an origin/EA handle that paid homage to the line “My Eyes! The goggles do nothing!” which I believe is one of the greatest lines in Simpsons… nay… television history. It’s clear from reading other commenters who admire that line that it may be the biggest hook to buy this piece. But I agree with Alissa’s analysis. Our friends at EA have brought back a really cool moment in Simpsons history at a very steep price. Unfortunately, it basically requires financing from an average sized win of a Platinum Scratch-R (coincidence that one hit our games today?). Bottom line, if you’re premium or freemium, love the scene and the line, and have 8 bucks burning a hole in your pocket, go for it. Otherwise, I agree with passing :-/

  5. I can confirm that you do get the skin Alissa. You get the skin after Milhouse says:
‘I completely understand… although not really.’ In the questline for the Film Set.

That is what happened to me in my B town and a peek in the files show that the skin is awarded at the point in the quest 🙂 hope it helps Alissa?

  6. I’m only interested in getting it for milhouses fallout boy costume but not worth for 150 donuts. Why couldn’t EA just release it for a few donuts. Another Pointless Gil deal.

  7. I’m only interested in getting it for milhouses fallout boy costume but not worth for 150 donuts. Why couldn’t EA just release it for a few donuts. Another Pointless Gil deal.

  8. After I finish the quest line, does the 6sec task remain for Wolfcastle? To earn $50 in just 6 secs is a MASSIVE way to quickly earn cash. The twins earn $220 in an hour what Wolfcastle can earn in just 30seconds !!! -(if your wiling to tap for a while.)
If the task disappears, I won’t finish the quest line.

  9. Just curious…. Are there any upcoming other charecters or such that will require the trading cards??? I would hate to blow them on painted horses or such and then find out there’s another charcoal briquette to get…. Thanks for any info….

  10. Thanks & a pass for me with your nice input. Not Duff gardens for sure.

When I saw this, I was really hoping that Wolfcastle would be getting a Radioactive Man costume with it… Not a chance of me buying it now

Is it this, or the trailer, that gives the Fallout Boy outfit for Milhouse? That is all I’m interested in getting.

    • I don’t have sidekick milhouse in one of my games and I didn’t see it offered with either. If someone can prove differently then please let me know..

      • Shameezden329

There’s a movie star trailer that I purchased for about 60 doughnuts that came with a costume for Milhouse.

    • I found out the answer: Buy the set. Wolfcastle and Milhouse will reshoot the acid scene: Wolfecastle gets a six second task, while Milhouse gets an 8 hour task to run and hide (yeah, it’s like that.) After finishing the 8 hour task, the Milhouse costume is unlocked. The sequence ends with a mention that if you wanted to give Milhouse another place he can hide, consider buying his trailer.

    • Sidekick Milhouse costume comes with this Radioactive Man film set, not the trailer

    • Sadly, I haven’t seen anything about the Sidekick Milhouse skin being offered in any part of this event. That’s too bad as it seems many people who weren’t around for the first SHeroes event would very much like to acquire it. I guess there still could be hope; until the end of the event anyway! 🤔 RachelS

      • Check out techbearseattle’s reply in this comment thread…Sidekick Milhouse comes with the Radioactive Man Film Set, after you’ve done some of the questline.

  13. I did an instabuy on this and kinda have an instaregret buying it. I do like the animation a lot and it has the famous line “my eyes, the goggles do nothing” which is awesome. But after thinking it over i’m not sure if i’d do it all over again. I like it but don’t love it.

  14. This deal is amazing to me! I LOVE the animation so much, the design gone into the animation, when the acid pouring, Wolfcastle flying and the cheeky butt just send me laughing EVERYTIME! 🙂
I got it because I never got the skin however I can see why you wouldn’t spend 150 donuts on just a building if you already have the skin. Maybe the deal should have come with the trailer as well 🙂

  15. Incidentally, if you don’t have Sidekick Milhouse, Gil says he’ll throw it in with the deal. Who knows, it might make a difference to someone.

  16. Does it give you milhouses costume?

  17. Have they re released milhouses superhero costume?

  18. Although I didn’t end up buying it, I could’ve sworn Gil mentioned something about throwing in Sidekick Milhouse. I wonder if it comes with Sidekick Milhouse if you don’t already have him? Don’t know if that changes anything.

  19. Where do completionist put everything? With just the freemium items, I am out of space. LOL!

  20. Glad I saw this. I sort of have a “movieland” section in my town, and thought this could have been a nice backlot feature, but I don’t really want or need another huge thing in my town, especially one that would be mostly unused and that is crazy expensive. Great write-up again! Saved me donuts. 😀

  21. The returns so far for me is when wolfcastle uttered “My Eyes, the goggles do nothing ” in the tone of Terminator in the 6s task.

    • So he does say it with that task? I’d love to have that sound bite, but I just can’t rationalize getting a big, ugly, expensive decorating just for that.

      • Audio is now in the post

        • That’s great! Thank you!! I ran downstairs to play it for my husband, because it’s one of those lines that we quote often in our house. 😀

      • Yes. He was dressed as radioactive man and upside down. When the task’s time is up, the tub of acid tilted and the acid splashed across the set, throwing him through the wall of the set with his butt sticking out. At this point he uttered in a Arnold voice : My Eyes! The Goggles do Nothing!

So Gill actually lied when he threw in a pair of goggles for the deal as it is useless. haha

  22. Really wanted to want this, but this review is sobering. If it had a % bonus I’d probably bite, but now I’m leaning against it.

Wait – does Wolfecastle not give his famous line during the animation? That seems like a missed opportunity.

    • I’m disappointed it’s a 6s task. I was actually considering buying my first ever Gil deal. Maybe next time.

    • I believe he does say his famous line. At least according to Sean168 in his post directly above your comment. RachelS

  23. Bought it and regret it.

  24. My eyes! The goggles do nothing! 😎

  25. Well, I bought it but probably shouldn’t have. It’ll amuse me for a few days but I don’t think I’d recommend it, especially not if donuts are hard to come by.

  26. Richard Proctor

Any information on Milhouse’s trailer? Pop-up said it was available in the store but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere.

    • Josephine Kick@$$

I found it in the store where the Superheroes tab is

    • I got the trailer-it’s in there someplace. Not a bad buy for $40 + it has a 2% added to it. It didn’t actually say it did, but when I placed it in my town my multiplier went up by 2%. RachelS

  27. Josephine Kick@$$

Even in a half asleep state of mind I said I don’t think so. That was before I even found out it actually had a payout & saw it in a neighbor’s town. Too big, animation meh, interaction more meh, payout so-so. I’m starting to really dislike Gil 😂

  28. Can you get milhouse’s fallout boy costume yet?

  29. I was on the fence at first, but when I saw the scale of the model was almost as large as Springfield Gorge, and dwarfed Krustylu Studios, I gave it a pass. I used some bonuts from my in-game ATM for Milhouse’s trailer instead.

  30. I’m thinking about it but I wish it was smaller. I don’t have anywhere to put it
