Holiday Whodunnit Act 3 is Live! The Rundown and What You Need To Know

Note: Because of Act 3 hitting this morning, the holiday weekend, and the need for Trivia to go up asap… no separate Open Thread post this week.  Feel free to use this rundown post as an Open Thread…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

In our games, the snow is falling and TSTO is calling yoo hoo!  It’s the most wonderful time of the year Tappers, Christmas in TSTO!  I just love the look of a fresh blanket of snow covering my pocket-sized town…at least for now.  I’ll get sick of it by the time January rolls around…in TSTO and in real life (have I mentioned lately I wanna move to Florida?) Anyway, yes the annual Christmas/holiday event has arrived in Springfield, so what does EA have in store for us? Well, we’ve got a real mystery on our hands!  A holiday whodunnit if you will! Poor Santa…

As always, loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up…

Remember, this Act will still be playable until the event ends on January 12th.  However, Act 4 will start on January 4th (note the Tuesday start date)

Things kick off for Act 3 with some dialogue between Marge, Lisa, and Elf Moe…

Elf Moe: Marge, where’s Homer been? Revenue is so low in his absence. Plus, with Barney in the drunk tank the past month… You should stop by and support your local business every so often.
Marge: I’d come more often if you had some more wine options besides “Twist Off White” and “Box Red”.
Elf Moe: Then why don’t you try some of my famous fresh pickled eggnog? If this eggnog wasn’t so delicious, I’d be mad.
Lisa: Enough with the small talk, Moe. We’re investigating the attack on Santa. Tell us where you were and what happened.
Elf Moe: I got nothing to do with it. I was here the whole night. Anybody who told you different has a date with a butcher’s knife.
Lisa: We just need to know if Snake was in here that night.
Elf Moe:Oh, yeah. He stopped in for a beer. Even let me keep half the till when he robbed me, on account of Christmas spirit.
Marge: How does every suspect in town have an alibi?! At least for the specific crime we’re investigating.
Elf Moe: More eggnog?

This triggers the Act 3 questline, Ho-ho-d’oh and is followed by  4hr tasks for Lisa, Marge, and Moe, as well as a task to collect Act 3 Currency (150), and Christmas Trivia.  Ho-ho-d’oh is the questline that will take you through unlocking all of this Act’s prizes.

Let’s take a look at what else is in store during Act 3…

Here’s the Act 3 Synopsis from EA:

At Moe’s Tavern, Moe is in the Christmas spirit and serving eggnog, which gets Marge promptly drunk as they talk to Moe about Snake’s alibi. Up on Mt. Useful, Homer tries to figure out how to keep an eye on Maggie while they’re training for the sleigh race, so he pawns her off for babysitting with the Gnome-in-the-Home who is there doing promotions for their sponsorship of the race. Meanwhile, Mary and Herb are there interviewing the racers for more true crime footage. Smithers is concerned that Burns comes across as evil no matter what he says, and that he may get painted as the culprit by Mary’s slick work in the editing room.

When Homer discovers that everyone else’s sleighs can fly, he and Bart hatch a plan to soup up their snowmobile with a combination of nitrous, rocket fuel, and magic stolen from Burns’ creepy dragon bone sleigh.

Meanwhile, Santa has finally awoken from his coma back at the hospital and Hibbert has asked Marge and Lisa to come by to take Santa off his hands because he’s being very annoying. When they arrive, they can see that Santa is not himself, he’s acting very strange, and Hibbert confirms that he has something lodged deep in his brain from the attack. They convince Hibbert to operate immediately to remove the foreign object, which he begrudgingly agrees to. With the object removed and Santa back to his normal jolly self, they agree to take him for an outing while he recuperates, so they bring him to Mt. useful to see all the people racing to help deliver presents in his absence this year.

As I stated above, you’ll go right into the Ho-ho-d’oh questline, which is what the Act 3 story will follow. This questline is how you’ll unlock the Act 3 prizes.

I’ll lay out specifically what you need to do for each part in the turbo tappin’ post, but I don’t want any of you to get messed up with this.  So don’t forget to SCROLL!

Questline, which I’ll post later, will show how each is unlocked.

Each Act will have a new premium character that will earn event currency.  From what I can see, based on the info from EA, characters will be used throughout the entire event.  So Act 1 will be used in Act 2, 3, and 4…etc. 

Characters earn:

5 /4hrs for Freemium
8 /4hrs for New Premium

These are STILL unlockable if you haven’t completed that prize track.  You have until the event ends to unlock ALL the prizes.  So keep going with the earlier Acts if you haven’t yet finished it. You have until January 12th to finish those…
