Questline with Dialog: Stage Producer
Stage Producer, part 1:
Sasha Reed: Marge! Marge Simpson! Just the woman I was hoping to see.
Marge: Sasha Reed?
Llewellyn Sinclair: Ah, Marge Simpson. As refreshing as a dry martini at intermission…
Marge: Hi Llewellyn…
Marge: So…given that we’re having this conversation, I’m guessing there’s something you want me to do for you. What is it?
Llewellyn Sinclair: Sasha is the lead in my latest masterpiece. It’s called “The Heiress of Nantucket”.
Sasha Reed: It’s a working title…
Llewellyn Sinclair: Look, Marge. We need your stage managing prowess to make our theatrical tour de force sing.
Marge: You want me to stage manage your real play?
Sasha Reed: We need you, Marge.
Marge: Is there a script?
Llewellyn Sinclair: A script? Okay, Mrs. Hollywood.
Marge: Well…is there one?
Sasha Reed: Of course there’s a script. Just come with us to the rehearsal space and all will be revealed.
Marge: Ooh, mysterious!
• Make Marge Follow Along Suspiciously – 4 hours
• Make Sasha Reed Attempt to Distract Marge – 4 hours
• Make Llewellyn Sinclair Summarize His Masterpiece – 4 hours
Marge: “The Heiress of Nantucket”.
Sasha Reed: Again, it’s a working title.
Llewellyn Sinclair: So, Marge, will you grace us with your stage managing talent?
Marge: Your play’s about the life-altering angst of a New England heiress after she experiences the trauma of a barista making her the wrong latte?
Llewellyn Sinclair: I know! Isn’t it thought-provoking? The everyday plight of the upper-class, completely uncharted territory!
Marge: Interesting…
Sasha Reed: Marge, don’t worry about the story. We need you for the stage managing. I know you haven’t worked since back in high school, but you’re the best I’ve ever seen.
Marge: Actually, I just stage managed my kid’s school play. Tom Sawyer: The Musical. It was a massive success.
Sasha Reed: Oh…really? Okay.
Llewellyn Sinclair: We’re not expecting you to work for free here. We’re offering you real compensation, plus a $200 gift card to Luigi’s.
Marge: I want to refuse. But I know how Llewellyn gets if you refuse him.
Llewellyn Sinclair: I taught Scott Rudin how to throw baked potatoes at assistants — the key is to make sure they’re fully loaded.
Marge: I wouldn’t be proud of that story if I were you…
Reward: 100 $$s, 10 XP
Stage Producer, part 2:
Llewellyn Sinclair: Ok, Sasha, let’s take it from the top.
Sasha Reed: Ah, the supermarket aisle. A corridor of judgement! / Where’s the respect I deserve? / Am I not a woman of worth? Don’t they know my lineage?
Llewellyn Sinclair: It’s art, isn’t it, Marge? The anguish of the privileged?
Stage Manager Marge: Give me a minute to reset the lights.
Sasha Reed: I sit all alone by the sea / With this forsaken latte in my hand / What I need is a matcha tea / Even though they’re super bland!
Llewellyn Sinclair: She’s a modern-day Eponine, isn’t she?
Llewellyn Sinclair: Say, Marge, after the rehearsal, could you pop over to the theater to check the audio situation? I have some errands I need to run.
Stage Manager Marge: Sure, I’ll just add that to the list of everything else I’m running for you.
• Make Stage Manager Marge Talk to The Theater Manager – 4 hours
Squeaky Voice Teen: Can I help you, ma’am?
Stage Manager Marge: I’m here on behalf of Llewellyn Sinclair, for “The Heiress of Nantucket.”
Squeaky Voice Teen: Oh, I don’t know what that is, ma’am.
Stage Manager Marge: It’s a working title…
Squeaky Voice Teen: Oh, wait, are you talking about the theater contest we’re doing?
Stage Manager Marge: Contest?
Squeaky Voice Teen: Yeah, the prize is $50,000.
Stage Manager Marge: They’re not here to put on a play. They used me to win their contest, split the money, and head to Broadway!
Reward: 100 $$s, 10 XP
Stage Producer, part 3:
Stage Manager Marge: I can’t believe it. This isn’t a real play. They’re using me to win some contest!
Homer: But that’s great! No play means no work, right? Which means, we can finally watch all those Apple TV shows that I heard are solid but not great.
Stage Manager Marge: No, I’m not letting them off the hook. They want a play? They’ll get a play.
• Make Homer Run for Cover – 4 hours
• Make Stage Manager Marge Prepare to Take Over the Play – 4 hours
Reward: 100 $$s, 10 XP
Stage Producer, part 4:
Llewellyn Sinclair: Marge! Marge! I need to talk to you!
Stage Manager Marge: Not now, Llewellyn! *drops the curtain* Quickly, Sasha! You’re back on in 15, get some water!
Sasha Reed: I thought this was a 5-minute break!
Stage Manager Marge: We had to cut this break to fit the theater’s total runtime. Fix your hair! Here we go! *raises the curtain*
Llewellyn Sinclair: Marge, why did the theater manager send me a list of show dates in two weeks?
Stage Manager Marge: Because you made one critical mistake, Llewellyn. You let me get involved. I know about the $50,000 prize.
Llewellyn Sinclair: Oh…
Stage Manager Marge: And I didn’t spend all this time staging a play to be read for a one night competition so that you and Sasha can split your cash prize and leave Springfield.
Llewellyn Sinclair: We’ll cut you in! We’ll split the prize three ways. Wait, what did you do?
Stage Manager Marge: I had them change the rules. The winner is contracted to stage their play for 90 days in Springfield…
Llewellyn Sinclair: What?! We might as well drop out! I can’t stay here for 90 days! I need to be in a big city! You should see the profiles on these dating apps!
Sasha Reed: Plus, I have a thousand auditions I need to get back to. 90 days is a lifetime in New York.
Stage Manager Marge: …and I convinced them that the prize should be dependent on the size of the audience at the contest.
Llewellyn Sinclair: But if anyone shows up, they might realize the garbage we’re trying to pass off as art!
Stage Manager Marge: Then I hope you’re okay with winning only $500…
Llewellyn Sinclair: How…why…then we’ll leave! I won’t stand for this!
Sasha Reed: We can’t leave, Llewellyn. Our play’s pretty much a shoe in to win. It’s $50,000.
Stage Manager Marge: Now do us all a favor and run the board for the last act of this rehearsal, I have a play to promote!
• Make Stage Manager Marge Promote Her Play – 4 hours
• Make Sasha Reed Continue Rehearsal – 4 hours
• Make Llewellyn Sinclair Realize He Can’t Stop This – 4 hours
Llewellyn Sinclair: You don’t get it, Sasha! She’s ruining everything!
Sasha Reed: By making sure the play actually happens? We should have never agreed to bring on Marge Simpson. She’s too smart for her own good.
Llewellyn Sinclair: Unless… we win the prize. Then we go full “The Producers” on everyone.
Sasha Reed: What do you mean?
Llewellyn Sinclair: We win the contest, and then on the official opening night of the play we sabotage it. We make the play so bad that it doesn’t last a day in Springfield.
Sasha Reed: But in “The Producers” that backfires and the play becomes a hit.
Llewellyn Sinclair: Then it’s a win-win, because we’d have a hit play!
Sasha Reed: I like this idea…
Reward: 100 $$s, 10 XP
Stage Producer, part 5:
Sasha Reed: Alright Sasha, take a deep breath. You’re not on Broadway anymore, you’re in…Springfield.
Sasha Reed: This isn’t exactly Patti LuPone territory, darling. Think more community theater meets farmers market.
Sasha Reed: I bet Angela Lansbury felt the same way for her opening night in “Mame”. Except, of course, there were probably fewer pitchforks in her audience.
Sasha Reed: Let’s win this contest!
• Make Stage Manager Marge Handle Costuming – 4 hours
• Make Springfielders Wonder What They’re Watching – x 5, 4 hours
Sasha Reed: I cannot believe this! This cannot stand! I am the hero of this story! I am always…right! *curtain falls*
Stage Manager Marge: *thumbs up to Sasha in the silence*
Llewellyn Sinclair: *light applause begins* So, Marge, do you think we won?
Stage Manager Marge: Let’s see who our competition is first?
Sideshow Mel: My play is titled “Mel, Melself, and I.”
Stage Manager Marge: How long is he going to talk for?
Llewellyn Sinclair: I actually think it’s pretty good. So much detail. I feel like I’m there with him.
Sideshow Mel: Ah, those Spago nights…I was one margherita pizza in when Sam Haskell, my then-agent, rings.
Sideshow Mel: The producers of “The Man with One Red Shoe” were gunning for me.
Sideshow Mel: But Sam, with all his gross points and back-end deal talk, convinces me to choose a “bigger” studio project instead. It’ll be safer he says.
Sideshow Mel: But I loved the original French version. I knew it’d be a hit.
Sideshow Mel: So, while I’m nursing a brandy at The Rainbow Bar, toasting with some execs to what I believe will be my big studio comedy…
Sideshow Mel: …across town Tom Hanks and Victor Drai himself are having their own little toast.
Sideshow Mel: It could have been me screaming “WIL-SON”! I could have “Run, Forest, Run”!
Sideshow Mel: But alas, my studio movie fell apart two days before principal photography, and Tom Hanks, well, he became Tom Hanks.
Sideshow Mel: But I have no bone to pick! *bows* *loud applause*
Sasha Reed: Well, sounds like we lost.
Llewellyn Sinclair: Big time.
Stage Manager Marge: There has to be a lesson here somewhere.
