It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons or current Tapped Out event) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

Hi. Does anyone have suggestions for other games that we Tapped out fans may enjoy?
Why shut the game completely down??? The programmers should go beyond their scope and instead of creating new content and characters they could utilize all the wonderful characters extra personas we already have, and have a bank of quests for all their different past challenges. Without awarding new merch. Just let us utilize our existing characters tasks. I’ve been playing TSTO since the beginning (12yrs) it pains me and so many others to know that our beloved game is being cancelled.
When Apps became the new standard in gaming and so many other things, who knew that investing $$$ in these platforms would mean the developers could not be held accountable for offering these Apps, collecting millions if not billions of dollars from users, then walking away from them. If I had known, I would not have spent the money/time on keeping up with building the game only to find out the last several months of existence that EA would just hand out “donut creating” buildings and characters to keep face, and offer the whole game at the end of September and give you 4 months to build and “not possible”to complete for some who may be one lower levels.
Let’s talk about discretionary spending. This experience has made me realize that not only EA, but other platforms that have shut down over the last 10 years after people spent money on them are not worth it. It has also made me realize that virtual games or anything else that we have to pay for to advance or to have access to, is not a good way to spend money…and I don’t have a problem with spending money, but once I purchase something, I assume it’s mine. Because of this situation, now I will no longer support EA or any other app that requires money to use their platform, or offer in app purchases to advance through.
This was one of the most creative, fun games of the last 12yrs. It is sad to think the developers couldn’t or wouldn’t find a way for account holders just to keep their games, even without updates. SHAME
Game content, like most digital content, is licensed to the purchaser, not owned. While it’s very sad that they’re sending the game and I’m going to miss my content terribly (some of which I, too, paid money for), they haven’t really done anything legally or ethically wrong. And besides, most originally premium content would come back in the game a year or two later as prizes or whatnot, at which point those who had paid for the content with real money would complain about that and folks would have to point out that they did get the use of that content for a good while before those who ultimately got it for free (donuts or IGC).
But, yeah – that’s why I prefer to buy music and movies on disc (or other hard media) than digitally….I want to know that it can’t just disappear on me at some point, just because a site shuts down or whatever. You might want to look into getting PC games that come on disc and that you actually own, not just license. (The only downside there is when you no longer have a computer or operating system that can play that game….I still have my old Zork discs, but no DOS machines to play it on, if I still wanted to. 😉)
FYI. The Golden Goose Realty was avail in my store this morning! It’s the 1st time I saw it!
Bit annoyed the unemployment office picks regular jobs when premium ones are available, or picks non visual when a visual is available. It’s a pity we can have more control over it.
Would be nice if it had the other timed options available to choose from as well – 30 minute, 2 hour, 3 hour, 6 hour, 10 hour, 16 hour. There are a lot of characters that have those timed tasks as well. For me personally it would be more being able to rush those characters in those time slots instead of trying to remember which ones are assigned those tasks and finding them or waiting until their full time has been met to tap them out.
Maybe its my imagination but it seems that the faster I tap any donut in the “bonus level up” (ie after level 939- or whatever it is) the more likely I can get 3 donuts first time. Is this a recognised phenomenon?
Set up all 7 monorail stations in the new land, didn’t know the trains had different amount of carriages depending on the track layout size, got 1,2 and 3 carriage trains running up and down, not sure my design plans yet lol happy Sunday
Event completed, back to routine tapping, now with non stop Desert Planet crafting, how can I resist. Another event with no Mystery Box and no unique items in Shattered Dreams. No surprises to catch up on old missed items. Be really nice if Crazy Zombie and Snarling Zombie made an appearance for Halloween this year to round out my character collections. But it’s been many years and they haven’t been available, at least without a bundle that makes them impossible to acquire.
