It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons or current Tapped Out event) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

I’m considering making a poster of my town. That will require higher resolution than the in game photo option. The best way to do this is with a photo stitcher and to take multiple screen grabs of your entire town. Hugin is a free photo stitcher app I’m going to give a try for this purpose. PTGui is the professional top of the line photo stitcher but that runs between $200-$400. So, I’m going to start with Hugin for free and see how that works. I first need to complete the 1/3 of my town which is just a mass of buildings parked randomly with no streets or thought involved and solve my land problem to organize it how I like it.
You should do a “best way to farm donuts” and “best things to buy” now that we’re in the closing stages
Right now just go buy ’em.
With a 5k+ bonus 24 RTTs in my smallest town got 200 Ds for $2.7 million.
For $3 million it’s 1,600 Ds with no mucking about opening boxes.
Just make sure you earn plenty of $$s, so maybe blow a load on bonus items.
The Best Buy for donuts is 9 for 7500. If you buy donuts at that price and buy 400 of those you will recieve 3600 donuts for the same 3,000,000 dollars that only nets you 1600 offered by buying in bulk. The price per donut gets worse the more you buy at one time.
If you complete the final quest line of the game: there is an infinite donut hack. When you complete the final stage of the last quest, you unlock the ten commandments and, of course, God. You then make god do the ‘open the floodgates of heaven’ job. This gives you 777,777 in game dollars. Use 450,000 of those dollars to buy the new 285 donut bundle. You now have 327,777 dollars and 285 donuts. Make god do the same task as before. Speed up that task for 260 donuts. You now have a lot more money, and 25 donuts. Now you have enough money to buy the 550 donut bundle in the store for 900000. Now you can do and speed up gods task twice with the amount of donuts you have.(And you have 55 donuts left over) Now rinse and repeat until you can buy the 1000, and eventually 1600 donut bundles. Just keep cycling through this, and you will have floodgates(get it) of cash and donuts piling into your Springfield so you can spend these last few months grinding, and making your Springfield the best it can be! I know this is complicated, but I know that I will be doing this every day lol I’m so very sad that they chose to sunset the game. I recently restarted playing and I got to level 19(I know, shameful) and then the sunset notice showed up. I actually thought it was a joke at first. Buuut now I’m really sad. I’m also really sad that only recently discovered this masterpiece of a game. Thank you Disney, EA, and all y’all for a great game!
What is the point in continuing to play if there is no access after the shut down. It’s prolonging the inevitable and putting salt on the wound.

Wow. Spent the day at the Oakland Coliseum saying goodbye to my Oakland A’s of 57 years (56 of which I’ve been going to see them) and then come home and see this…been playing since it first came out (before it went away for a couple months and came back). Crazy day for venerable institutions in my world.
Ouch. That is a rough day.
I also bought a bunch of donuts using the in game cash. Then it crashed and my $$ and bought donuts were gone. Man! I had 100,000,000 something but it’s down to 98664010. I’m gonna miss this game!!
This was a real shock but I wonder, are they still planning Halloween and Christmas events? Those were always my favorites

Yeah, I’ve been playing since October 2013. I used to go to restaurants during my lunch break. And what started as a 15 minute play through ended taking 30+ minutes. Truly life ruining fun.

Hi, I just wanted to say how truly heartbroken I am at this EA message. No sorry, no love. But what should we really expect? TSTO has been part of my life for 12 years. In the begining I would borrow my boyfriend’s iPad to play, weedling that I wanted to make his town pretty. On our honeymoon we went to an expensive pub just because they had WiFi, so I could play. I’ll always remember nursing a tiny bottle of coke, ducking down so the waitress wouldn’t think we wanted to order and my husband hissing “are you done yet?” every minute, only for me to reply “hang on, I just need to send Bart on one more job”. 10 months ago I set up my own account from scratch so our daughter Molly could play with me. All that time, not to mention all that money, and we can’t even keep our towns to look at.
You can always take a picture if you want to remember your town. They even reminded you how to do it.
First comment! Really grateful to the team at Addicts with info and support plus all the developers for TSTO. Really sad as I play this with my daughter and she loves spending time doing our own towns to show each other… she cried a bit!
I’ve also had the issue with donuts – which EA apparently know about (I thought it would be good idea to spend Al my money on donuts so I could get 100,000! Managed it but then it crashed a few times and all the donuts were gone plus no money back either!).

Absolutely gutted… but also annoyed. I got given 1100 donuts for playing more than 10 years, then the game crashed and I didn’t have them any more… then I converted all my cash to donuts and it crashed again and I lost the donuts and the cash 😭
Same thing happened to me. I hope it’s just a bug and it’ll be fixed 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Same here, got zero donuts now and lost 15million in cash. Now you can’t buy any donuts. Hopefully they’ll fix that. 🤞🏼
Is the yearbook mystery box gone ?
I notice that the new splash screen doesn’t have Matt Groe it’s signature. And the characters look ” off” like they were drawn by someone else.
I’ve spent all these years playing and creating a town only to have it taken from me? What is wrong with them?
EA doesnt have a soul. That’s whats wrong with them. Money grinding company and it’s never enough. I wont spend a penny on any EA game ever again and I hope more people wont.

We have made the difficult decision to sunset Tapped Out. In-app purchases have been disabled, and the game will be removed from the app stores October 31, 2024. You may continue playing until January 24th, 2025, at which point servers will be turned off and TSTO will not be accessible.
The decision to end our twelve-year journey is an emotional one. Together with our partners at The Simpsons™ and The Walt Disney company, we have delighted in bringing this game to you, the fans, and seeing how you’ve each built your own beloved versions of Springfield. It has been a remarkable journey, and we are grateful that we’ve been able to deliver 308 updates, 831 characters and including today’s final farewell 1,463 questlines.
