Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Wow, you all had a lot to say about getting the chance to play TSTO again! It’s clear that we all miss our beloved pocket-sized towns. With the exciting news that The Simpsons has been renewed for another 4 years and the rumor of a new LEGO Krusty Burger release this summer, it’s safe to say the appetite for our favorite yellow family is still going strong!
So here’s the deal: I’m on it! The team behind the private server is hard at work fixing bugs and making it compatible with iOS. Right now, there’s an APK version available for Android, and I’m planning to test it out on BlueStacks. I won’t share anything with you until I’ve tested it myself—I want to make sure it’s good to go for all of you.
In the meantime, rest assured it’s in the works. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share detailed instructions with you all soon so we can bring our towns back to life.
Quick note: When I refer to the “private server” here, I’m talking about a server not run by EA. This will be hosted on an alternative server, so you won’t need to download it to your computer. You’ll be able to play it just like you did before, with no extra hassle.
And for those of you asking—yes, it is possible to restore your original town, even if you didn’t save it before the game was taken off EA’s servers. You can visit https://towns.spanser.dev/, which has a massive list of over 3 million TSTO towns. Search for your username, and if your town is listed, you can download the save files. Once that’s done, you’ll be able to upload your game to the private server version.
So check to see if your town is available and stay tuned for more updates!

My game was working off the private server for a few days, now when I try to open the app, I only get a Tapped Out is no longer available message.
Is there a problem with the code verification? i press send code and nothing is sent to my email, checked spam and nothing

First of all – I am so happy that this game is going to live. Second of all – read the First of all.
On a more serious note – I do hope that those responsible for shutting down the game in first place will let the private servers slide. Dont take me wrong – I do want to continue play but with this we are tapping in gray terriotry (or maybe even more).
I was able to download the game but I guess mine never saved because it took me right back to level 1. Glad I get to play but it would have been nice to get my 11 year old fully loaded town back…
I cannot find my town… is there a method to download the savefile from the original game that I still have on my android phone?

I would like to ask you Graham what you think of all this, teamtsto and the private server, I know you are very knowledgeable with these things, security also of the apk files, I don’t know if you could do a separate post on what’s what and allisa post on an update on her findings/testing along with the May open thread, would really like your opinion.
Back in the my game today, using old device so a bit of a lag.
Nice to be able to scroll through my town and it’s the same as I left it.
Currency was at full amount but my donuts were gone, by logging in to tsto public I was able to set my donuts to 100k.
The option to buy more donuts is still there but has some bugs and needs fine tuning.
Username also needs fine tuning on the public log in it doesn’t save and uses the email address I registered with.
No friends available to visit just the generic one.
Still some exploring to do but couldn’t see any events unless I have to start from the beginning with a new town?.

Keep in mind I really really want to download this.
I only played for a year, so I was quite late to the party. Even though I do have my save, I’ll be starting a new game from the beginning of the event cycle.
Questions (please anyone answer, even if you just know one)
1. I was told we will have to assign an IP address for the server to connect to in the files. Is this true?
2. If true, is there a different option? How can I be sure my IP address won’t be sold?
3. If I must connect an IP address, can I use my phone’s?
4. Can the game run with mobile data?
5. Are all events set up to be working by the team? Are any missing?
6. Can I play with friends if they use the same IP address?

Thank you, after making this comment I downloaded it on my android and it worked easily. My town sometimes switches to someone else’s though, don’t know why that happens. I wanted to start a new game from level one, but it started at level 17? Hopefully they fix that? When will I be able to play events?
The events should be determined by the level you are on I presume, not sure?

What did you have to scroll past in that first screenshot to get to the bit of the instructions you circled ?!!
APK = App specific file that you download to install a particular android app. Every android app out there has its own unique APK.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh. I wasn’t aware that my phone has an APK File.
If it’s Android everything on there had an APK to put it there. Android is built to use those to set up apps.
I’ll expand on that …
If you go to the app store and pick something watch the notifications.
It starts out with Downloading and then goes to Installing.
Downloading is getting the APK for the app you picked and Installing is running it to put that app on your phone.
Thank you. I guess I thought that APK was a separate thing. I guess now I have to decide is if I want to allow my phone to possibly become vulnerable. With wanting to allow this for Tapped Out I get a warning message that my Apps and Data maybe at risk.

There’s a limit to nested replies or it can get silly.
There’s always a risk if you get an app from somewhere other than the actual app store. In this case consider those who did check it out and decide if you want to chance it.
You should be able to do a full backup of your phone and having anti-virus and/or anti-malware apps can help.
I’m in an odd spot where I can’t fully join the discussion or endorse what’s on offer right now.

I apologize. I got agitated because I thought I had explained myself well and then you said TSTO isn’t available on app store and I didn’t even mention TSTO.
I could have responded differently and I apologize.

That’s true, there’s always a chance/risk.
I just have the basic anti-virus or anti-malware. The security that comes with the phone, I can’t afford to be paying monthly for security apps.
Am sure I could back up my phone but if something did happen then I’d be screwed for awhile. Due to my money situation I can’t replace my phone easily. I’m already planning on getting a 5G phone next year, sooner if circumstances warrant it. But am aiming for next year.
If you have a reliable backup you could do a full reset and then restore that backup is my guess.
I do that if I try PC stuff I’m not sure of, so I can roll back to before I checked it out (usually – take some risks checking links in comments here so I can Approve ’em or bin ’em)
Sadly I don’t have a PC. Nor do I have an interest in buying one. It’s difficult enough for me to use my Data between my phone and Amazon Fire Tablet to have them both online. Having a third device would make put an even greater strain on my Data.
No wifi? The only time I’ve ever used data to do stuff on my laptop was when I was traveling and staying in a cabin with no wifi available. I rented a mobile hotspot for the week.
I have Data on my phone that can be used for Browsing and HotSpot.

I found an older device and installed the apk there after deleting everything on it, it’s an old phone with no sim, I disabled everything on the phone apart from the apk tsto and Google Chrome, using wi fi only.
The game loads but has server issues constantly I haven’t tried my own game save yet and the game has lots of bugs still to be fixed, I wouldn’t recommend putting it on your regular phone or tab yet.
I will try my saved game today but alway weighing up the risk.

I have been play tapped out for a few days now. If you have trouble here is what I leard 1. Need a strong connection to wifi. 2. Keep in this is a beta test to work out the bugs. 3. You down loaded to your phone, please keep in mind that connection has to be strong.
Really looking forward to playing the game again. I hope I can link this to my phone.

How’d you get in? I downloaded my town saved game progress but still waiting to hear further instructions. Is there a private server on DISCORD or something? If so, what the server name or wth do I have to do to get into my TOWN again? 😭😭😭😭😭😅
1. Go to teamtsto.org
2. Download apk
3. Delete old tapped out
4. Download new tapped out
5. Go to their website and log in to the dashboard
6. Upload your town via the dashboard
7. Then open it on your phone if you’re also signed in
8. Don’t change any data on the dashboard while the game is open, make sure it’s fully closed before changing anything
I have registered my .pb game on teamtsto but when I change my username it reverts to my email address, it instructed me to rename my .pb file to my email.pb but wondering if that’s right?
Noticed this on the teamtsto page with further instructions to get into our games:
“How do I login?
Press EA Login (Bottom left corner) to login. Remember to login with your email. Do not play anonymously as it will not save your progress.
Enter your email address and press Log In to receive the verification code. (When pressing log-in it may take some time for it to move to the next screen.)
You will receive an email with a verification code. Copy the code from your email. (Remember to check the spam folder)
Paste the code into the game and click ‘Verify’ to continue.
You’re now logged in and can start playing with a new town or import your old town to the server.
(Town level will most likely show level 1 after logging in. Just head on in it’s a bug)”
great for us who can’t remember our passwords.
So am still abit confused. I download my game file, which I did, then I tap on it and it’ll open and take me to a log in page. Is that right or am I missing something.
And thinking ahead what happens if my phone won’t open the file.
If my name doesn’t appear in the list, does that mean my game save is gone … forever? 😞😟😞
