Where Did THAT Come From – Baseball Jasper

Hey hey tap ballers! In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

So with the Tap Ball Event, all sorts of new stuff has appeared in our games. One of the Tap Ball Prizes is Baseball Jasper. But why the heck is Jasper all dolled up for women’s baseball in the 1940s a la A League of Their Own?  Did he ever play ball in drag?  When and where did he actually appear in the Best. Show. Ever.? Let’scheck out the Simpsons TV Series to find out, shall we?

You know, one of the things I love most about Grampa Simpson aka Abraham Simpson II is all the time he reminisces about his past. Whether you realize it or not, most of the stuff we know about this man comes from the zany stories he’s told throughout all the amazing episodes of the Best. Show. Ever. Whether it’s dancing burlesque in the war, writing to the President to eliminate three states, wearing big yellow onions on his belt, washing walking birds or beginning stories in nineteen dickety two, Grampa has lived a colorful life. Of course, this post is supposed to be about Jasper Beardly but I’m getting to that.

The origin for Baseball Jasper comes from yet another one of Grampa Simpson’s stories in “Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play” (S17:E22). The Simpsons are attending an Isotopes game and Grampa is telling Lisa about when he played there in nineteen forty deuce. Sushi was called Liberty Logs and nobody had ever heard of it. Grampa played centerfielder for the Springfield Floozys in the women’s baseball league. “Let’s just say one of the ladies had some extra equipment.” The pay wasn’t much but it kept him out of the war for a year.

And Jasper apparently did the same thing. When Abe is found to be a man… he tells the girls to get Grampa because he’s threatening his record for lady triples.

And that’s your origin friends. After all these years, Jasper still has the uniform and isn’t afraid to wear it. Pretty funny to see it in our games as the third Tap Ball Prize. What do you think of it? I’m a big fan but then again Jasper is one of my favorite Harry Shearer characters… everything is better bearded lol. Sound off with your thoughts or favorite Abe Simpson stories in the comments. Good luck in your Tap Ball games and stay classy.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. I recently spent 150 donuts on cracker factory but always wanted Jasper too. now have 2 skins for him sitting in inventory… that’s gotta be a paddlin!

  2. Is the daily prize for lugash supposed to be a skin for him or just allow him to play tap ball? I haven’t purchased him but I thought a skin was supposed to be but in my inventory.

Also, these notifications to play every half hour are driving me crazy! Make it stop!!!

  3. my names jeff

Oh baseball jasper, thats a paddling

  4. And don’t forget why he plays tapball with a paddle. When the teachers were on strike he taught a class. Every rule ended with: “That’s a paddlin”.

  5. Posing as a woman… That’s a Paddle’n. 😉

I must have missed this episode because I would have remembered it. I was surprised to see Jasper like this, Now Grandpa on the other hand – you mentioned when he was dancing for Hitler “Dees Aren’zNo Boobies!” As well as his Western Fantasy as being the damsel in distress as well as what actually happens to him when he forgets to take his medicine (I suspect Jasper truely didn’t know what kind of date he was in for when he asked “Grandpa” out) :p

It just seems funny his past (real or recalled wrong) and then Homer recalling Grandpa as a tough, stern, indifferent, and distant person with a failing marriage. Whatever his past is or was it doesn’t change the kind of goof he is now 🙂

But again this is meant to be about Jasper :p
