It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread. The Simpsons are back and brand new for 2016! What do you think will happen in tonight’s episode? The Maggie Act of the Winter Event hit our games yesterday, what are your thoughts on the new stuff? Excited about the prizes?

I’m just LOVING the animation for the “Make Homer go on a job” task in The End of the Beginning, Part 15! I actually zoomed in and watched him go through it for about 5 solid minutes. I don’t think there’s a real cycle to it….I think it’s randomly generated as it goes. Don’t think I’ve ever seen the developers do anything like that in the game before…
Hey Sandra, thanks for adding me as a neighbor. Wasn’t expecting you to have room this soon, but I’m not complaining 😀 Love your town but made me realize I really suck at “where’s waldo” type games. Only found 4 Lisa Snowmen in your town, and I’m sure there’s many more than that.
LOL – Yeah – there are 26 of them! (There were 27, but I think I stored one when I was taking down my holiday stuff and stored the New Year’s Eve ball, which I had snow Lisa, Marge, Maggie, and Grandpa looking at.) Maybe each time you pop by you’ll spot another one…I’ll probably leave them there as long as the snow sticks around.
I was pleasantly surprised that I could add you so soon too (and I may have been a teeny bit unfair to the person I dropped), but, when I saw a neighbor hadn’t played in 5 days, I decided to drop him to make room for you. If the other neighbor had been someone that I “knew” from this site, I probably would have given him a bit more time, but he wasn’t, and I generally prefer to have “friends” from here as neighbors over strangers.
So, welcome to my Springfield…it’s not the most creative one out there by a long shot, but I like to think it’s not a bad little town and your compliment was very much appreciated! 🙂
Well I was way off then. Unless I still have a shot and my “guess” is that there is 26 of them, was 27 at one point in time 😀 What do I win? lol Kinda feel bad myself for the one that got dropped for being inactive 5 days, but yay me 😀 As you probably noticed on here, I’m active pretty much daily, although may not be a diligent tapper of neighbor towns. When I do tap I make sure not to vandalize, but based on one of your past comments, its not the end of the world if a slip happens. Same kinda goes for me now that we have the wailing walls helping with stats, but if I see someone tagging 3 times in a visit, that’s no accident lol. As mentioned before, definitely would prefer to have friends from here rather than a random that I have no “connection” with, if that makes sense.
Yeah – I don’t care at all if I get vandalized (and I don’t promise not to vandalize if there’s absoutely nothing else to tap in a town when I get there).
As for visiting, I do expect my neighbors to visit at least a few times a week (I used to expect daily, but I don’t anymore….I’m finding that, these days, I can’t always get to everyone every day myself, so it obviously wouldn’t be fair to expect that of others. I probably would come closer to visiting everyone every day if it weren’t for that damned time slip….). But I’d say that if you tap my town at least, say, three times a week, that’s fine. (Although, to be truthful, I rarely track people to see if they’re visiting….so far, I’ve only done that once, and I gave folks well over a week of no visits before there were “consequences.”)
I’m also MUCH more lenient with the “regulars” here….the only time I’ve ever dropped a regular was when they said they were leaving the game for good or for a really long, indefinite time (in the latter case, the agreement was that I’d add her back in as soon as she got back).
Duely noted, will definitely visit at least 3 times a week if not more 😀
OK Alissa, I’ve sent you some mail. On your spare time if you can either mail me back or message me your thoughts on such mail. It would help me sleep better… When you have the time. 🙂

I have a question…. I been lazy, still havent earned my first set of doughnuts from the Rail yard yet…. After I earn the first 5 will I be able to earn more after or is it just the first five?

Every week night! In my market, it’s on right before Jeopardy; in NYC, it’s on right after Jeopardy. Both markets show those shows back-to-back in the 7-8pm time slot.
They used to do that here also, and more than likely still do, but lately too much of my time is spent tapping/rearranging my town to know what’s on tv. Seems tv has become background noise at best at least at my household.

I did a few neighbour visits this morning and noticed that I had the same number of pacifiers as a couple of neighbours (to within 10-20)
That prompted me to check Bunny’s (Sandra’s) calendar, and the rest of my neighbours, and most people are right on target, some people a few days ahead and some a few behind …but where is everyone going to place their Wall-e-weasel restaurant in a couple of days?

On the main quest I will have collected the robot pieces in two and a half hours (from time of posting) and will be sending Homer to Krustyland, …..wow a task in Krustyland ….I know …..so not too long till the find Maggie game ….

Hey Everbody! Sorry to neighbors & friends not in my town tonight or tapping towns, hopefully all will be well tomorrow. My most loved soul mate (bff for 30 years) lives in Northern California & they are having earthquakes like crazy she lives where it’s difficult to get emergency signals so all my devices are set on alert as believe it or not I get them first in FL. Her kids are a little south (my god children) on alert also but not as high as her. Please everyone send good thoughts to Noerthern Ca she is there alone. She also plays our Lil game & reads site she actually turned me on to this site, just is so busy doesn’t post, counts on me for updates. CA is my home! The whole state is getting hit hard, to all Californians my prayers are with you, stay safe!

Thank you, Lee, they are all safe! Let’s hope these fairly small quakes relief some pressure. They are also gettin tons of rain so mudslides. She is an environmental,safety engineer/manager of huge lumber mill, which means she is out in forests and meetings, so she can’t leave & go to a safe place. She has emergency kit & in big 4 wheel drive truck. All I can di is try to stay in touch and pray she stays safe.

Yikes – I hadn’t heard anything about that! (Surprised, too, since I usually get a CNN Breaking News email about signficant events like that….) I have a LOT of family in the Bay area…don’t know if that’s what you’re talking about or farther north than that. I’m gonna go check the news right now!!
Okay…I’m confused…no mention of any kind of significant earthquakes in CA right now on either the TV news (noon news show just started) or online (CNN.com, Google news, etc.).
Hi Sandra, guess quakes weren’t big enough to make news, but you would think the fact that over 100 quakes would make news! She is about 6 hours North of Bay Area. Her kids are still in the Bay Area (small world that we know peps that live so close). Biggest quake was right by her 4.5.
Kind of a shame that news is all about pep dying these days. I remember when every quake in CA hit news. What worried me was there were so many along with mud slides. I could find lots of info on Internet & was getting updates faster then her, although she lives in mountains so hard to get signal sometimes!

Funnily enough, a short while after I posted that, I did hear an item on the news about some 4.2(?) earthquakes in California, but they were in Southern California, not Northern California. Not sure they would report one but not the other….
Sandra, I live east of the tunnel in the East Bay, and we’ve felt a few minor, very minor (did we feel something?), bumps. But nothing major. The South Bay mountains, north bay mountains have had been hit hard with heavy rain. Low lying areas have rising water. The rest of us have had 1/2″ of rain then a respite. And 1/2″ rain and a respite. Most of us are doing well.

Sorry foe delay spent last night at hospital, darn back. But on national news yesterday they reported 26 small EQs in Oklahoma! Why no report on Northern Ca when they report smaller ones in OK, guess they are more common in CA& most Californians take them in stride if no damage. That night she said I have early meeting so going to bed call me if there are anymore that are stronger lol. My being a misplaced native Californian know we are a tough breed. Now that I’ve been in Fl I’m say about our thunder storms (dogs aren’t) and hurricanes, I actually like watching both they can be awesome looking! I did tell you lots of Northern Californians are a lil strange, I admit it!😎
P.S definition of TSTO addict,in hospital & all I could think about is I’m missing hunting bears? Gotta get back home so I can get in my game!

Seriously, though….how did your back land you in the hospital? Was it just a too-much-pain; need-more-serious-drugs thing? Or were you frozen into an awkward position? Just curious….(and, of course, really, really sorry to hear that you were in such bad shape 🙁 ).
I think the reason that they’re covering the ones in Oklahoma is because they’re man made earthquakes.
I hear you about the hospital. I was lucky that I had my phone on me when I had my stroke so I could play from the hospital. Hard to tap with just my left hand though.
Hi tappers! Question for you: I still have the Metal, Glass & Plastic Depots. Should I store them? Do they earn cash and XP? If they don’t I’d like to get rid of them as I always get the tin can icon in the top left corner when I’m assigning jobs.

Do you have the Rail Yard? If not, then you can go ahead and store the recycling centers without losing anything. If you do have the Rail Yard, then you can continue to earn 5 donuts a week by fulfilling all of the Raily Yard tasks for the week, which requires using the recyling centers.

Finally spuckled the last Spuckler!
Decided to de clutter and get rid of Halloweem and Xmas stuff. Town is now decidedly bare and lacking in so much of a multiplier boost. Was up at over 600 with spooky walls etc, but down at 364 or so now. There are still 76 tennis courts out I may move before long also.
In game cash is approaching 42 million and don’t need to worry about that for a loooooong time, so may just re-arrange and get monorail running again, without obscuring views of other buildings etc, without having to nuke. 🙂
I just hid all my spooky walls, wailing walls and tennis courts around behind buildings. Of course, I’m not near the item limit yet. 🙂
Mrs. Sinclaire is now in my Springfeild, but just like KOS, she doesn’t have pacifier tasks just storyline quest EC (I’m guessing)

This can’t be a winter event.
I have found proof that this is a late spring event. The reason is simple. The deciduous trees in the Botanical Garden have green leaves showing through the open roof. If it were winter, those branches would be bare. As full as the tree are with leaves, they must have had time to grow with the new season and therefore it is not early spring. So, not winter, not early spring, and can’t see that much snow on the ground in summer, so it must be a late spring snow fall.
That brings up a different question. I forget. Do we celebrate Christmas in the summer on this site on July 25th or June 25th?

What about all of those imaginary bears? I’m guessing those are invisible to some folks (since imaginary things generally are)!
And deciduous trees are not grown in botanical gardens anyway because the annual use of leaf blowers ruin the lower canopy. The green you see is moss growing on the forcefield.
Is the moss only on the northern side of the force field?
They close the roof at night when you’re not looking, so even deciduous trees keep their leaves in winter 🌳🌳

Craig seems to be identifying, please correct if wrong, the southern hemisphere “Sprinter” and “Sprummer”, as the traditional seasonal model is based on Northern hemispherical conditions.
Although I have seen it in the past, when I look up at night I do not see the Southern Cross. So, my thought patterns are skewed that way.

I’m getting older, and despite getting a big phone, can’t read the little word balloons or stats in my to do lists. Is there a place to enlarge game text sizes? Can’t find it, maybe I just can’t see it. 🙂 Would make a great game option for many of us who can’t afford tablets, hate reading glasses, and are approaching 50.
That is really up to your device. You would have to check online or your owners manual to see if a “Zoom” feature is built in and if you can enable it for the game. Just be careful… some players complain that once it zooms they can’t get it to go back to normal. Each device and player varies.
Get an iPad. It’s worth it.
I love using my work iPad to play this game (outside of work hours), but, if I didn’t have the use of one that way, I don’t think there’s any way I’d spend that outrageous amount of money to buy a tablet (unless maybe I could get a used one somewhere for the price of a new Android tablet…then, maybe, I’d consider it). (Oh, or unless my winning-the-lottery retirement plan came to fruition.)
There are good android tablets much cheaper than I-pad …..
anyone in England, can get “Hudl” tablet from Tesco supermarket about £100 …..sure y’all in the states have similar ?

I’m in the same boat on this one, ….at work I guess at where to write things on my paperwork, or do it by habit, but can’t actually read the words……but at home I use reading glasses to look at tablet or phone …..it’s just an age thing……I can see for miles no problem, just can’t see small writing …..only when you try reading glasses do you realise how much your close-up vision has deteriorated

Origin has something like it… but its more a pain than anything. I would suggest a possible friendship on Facebook on an “alternate” account set up for just gaming friends. I set one up for our other site to keep my “personal” life separate. 😉

Alissa had to go and get all knocked up so our plans for next one got put on hiatus. We will see. It’s a blast hanging out in person with people that are insanely crazy (maybe that’s just me) and love the game like we do. 😉

Maybe someone can explain how this Maggie part (Act 3) fits in with Christmas? I love the event, don’t get me wrong but it is really not Christmas and should be separate from that event. This “Christmas” event sure beats the lame Halloween Event we just had.
Because Maggie IS our Christmas Gift… so we got her… and now get to play with a branch off of her world. 🙂

This act is for the New Year, often symbolized as a new baby. (The overall event is defined as “winter,” so it’s not restricted to Christmas.)
Actually, this wasn’t listed as a “Christmas Event”; it was labeled as a “Winter Event.” So Maggie doesn’t have to tie into Christmas.
Kinda appreciated the attempt at a non-secular “event”, thought that’d be the direction they’d go with the earlier renaming of the character categories.

I hope you do the tappa tappa tappa with your hands. Doing this with your tapping shoes is detrimental for the health of your tablet/phone 😀

It dings you a bit on your Righteousness rating, but you earn points for cleaning it up. People say it will reduce your star rating, and thus your bonus by a bit, but I’ve been vandalized plenty of times, and my rating has always been pegged at maximum after a bit. I’ve only got one Training Wall, so unless you get points for sending crooks to prison, Vandalism is the only thing earning me points.
Seriously, I don’t get why so many people hate it so much either. It’s an extra way of earning cash, XP, and FPs for buildings that are otherwise unproductive, and a handy backup option for your neighboreenos if your town’s been heavily harvested. Plus, it’s not like it takes any time to tap the mop icon and move on to something else.
Not sure why everyone gets upset by being tagged or vandalized. Does it do something I’m unaware of other than having to double tap a building? While I was maxing out my friends level, if someone hadn’t been on and only spray paintable buildings were left, I’d tap them for the xp. I didn’t mind people painting my buildings because it helped me max out keeping my town clear of vandals and criminals. Since I’ve maxed out my friends level if only those buildings are left I skip them and move on. If I offended anyone I’m sorry. I’m just not sure why everyone gets upset about this part of the game. After all it’s just a game. Please explain.
Basically, vandalism makes it hard to keep your conform-o-meter (star) rating at five stars. You get a bonus when you have five stars and when someone tags you, you lose the bonus. My three-star overall rating is like Homer’s hair, it always stay intact even if I have a half-star Righteousness rating.

What’s halve a percent if your bonus multiplier is at 380 percent? Peanuts!
Vandalizing buildings can cause your righteousness rating to drop which can be solved by placing a lot of training walls. If you rating drops it also means you earn somewhat less xp because of a lower rating, so that’s why.
It is because it lowers the obesence level and can move people down from 5 stars to 4.5 which lowers the collection profits
There are two main reasons why people don’t like to be vandalized – first, it reduces your Rightousness rating (which can be easily avoided if you just buy and place a bunch of training walls around your town) and, second, some people just don’t like the look of it, aesthetically.
I, personally, don’t care if I get vandalized, and, when I was a new player, I actively liked it, because it was the only way that I could earn much needed money from those buildings. (At the time, I assumed everyone felt the way I did, so I always did my neighbors a “favor” by tagging their buildings, until I learned that a lot of people really hate that (although, to be fair, I never added any neighbors from a No Vandalism add-me thread).
A leader board on FP’s would be nice. I try not to vandalize unless it looks like they are at a lower level and could use the FP’s. Besides at level 32, you probably don’t have 5 stars anyway.
A leaderboard for FPs wouldn’t make much sense, because most experienced players are maxed out, so there would be no way to put us in any order.
I only have one training wall, and vandalism has never dropped my rating. In fact, cleaning UP vandalism raises my rating, and it’s never fallen below 5 stars except during events when vandalism is deactivated.
I keep tapping between Ayn Rand’s School and R.B.B.B.Service, wondering which babies crying might sound the most like Riley. Alissa, do you have her doing voice work? 😛
