Deep Space Homer Prize Guide: Rocket Ship

Hey Howdy Hey Space Tappers!

The Deep Space Homer mini event hit our Springfield’s yesterday and with it arrived a whole bunch (ok a few) of Space Themed prizes for our Springfields!

This event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes.  For each of the first 6 parts of Cheap Space Homer you’ll have to earn star via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part.  The sixth and final prize you’ll earn is the Rocket Ship…because every astronaut needs a Rocket Ship to blast off in…

2016-01-22 03.02.00

So let’s take a look at this sixth prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield.

Note: I’m doing this a little out of order, since we lost a couple of days with the weekend.  I know a lot of you are just about hitting this part of the Event, so I wanted to go over this breakdown.  I’ll go back over the next couple of days and break down the other missing prizes 🙂

Once you’ve completed Cheap Space Homer Pt. 6 and successfully earned the 100 NARA star AND you’ve had he Simpsons put the Rocket Ship together  you’ll automatically be awarded the Rocket Ship and see this message pop-up:

2016-01-22 03.06.23

You won’t have an option to place or store this one, your platform will automatically upgrade to include the Rocket Ship.  And once it has, you’ll see this message pop up…

2016-01-22 03.06.28

And you’ll be able to start the rocket launches! Quimby will start up the next part to guide you through what to do…

Cheap Space Homer Pt. 7
Quimby

Quimby: Good news, Homer! The Inanimate Carbon Rod re-entered the atmosphere and has been recovered!  So you’re off the hook. The rod can take over the mission and you can go back to being… what were you before? A bum?
Homer: Mark my words. No rod – inanimate carbon, Serling or Stewart – will steal my thunder. I trained for this mission, and I will carry it out! Now is the rocket ship automatic or stick? Because I can’t drive a stick.
Frink: I’m starting to regret not paying more attention during the training process.
Make Homer Launch the Space Ship- 6s, Earns $35, 1xp

Cheap Space Homer Pt. 8
Homer starts

Homer:  Sorry, I didn’t realize the parking brake was still on. And that Houston was not our destination.
Frink: Homer, you might be the worst astronaut in world history.
Homer: Even worse than the chimpanzees?
Frink: Even worse than that Collins guy!
Barney: The least you could do is put out the fires you caused! Some of us sober astronauts are serious about getting into space!
Homer: Fine. I’ll put out the literal fires but I refuse to try to fix any of the emotional ones.
Make Homer Put Out Rocket Fuel Fires- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
Quimby: Homer, you really saved the day!
Frink: Saved the day? He crushed our dreams, ruined our space program, and called me a nerd on several occasions!
Quimby: But Homer’s incompetence gave the Inanimate Carbon Rod the opportunity to pry open the water valve and douse those fires.
Frink: That rod deserves another ticker tape parade! And I deserve another bribe from the ticker tape lobby.

Space Trek
Quimby starts

Quimby: Hey, this update isn’t over. We have to try again.
Homer: The controls are a little burned, but I think I can handle it.
Frink: By my calculations, an unmanned flight will yield a higher success rate than having that man at the helm.
Quimby: So it’s settled, tap the switch on the spaceship to launch when ready.
Make the Rocket Blast Off- 12hrs, Earns $200, 20xp

At this point your Rocket will disappear for 12hrs.  And at the conclusion of 12hrs you’ll see this pop up:
2016-01-22 03.11.07
Homer: Why is there so much weird stuff floating around in outer space?
Kang: It’s from our civilization!
Homer: Ooh! So these are priceless alien relics?
Kang: No, useless alien trash.

You’ll then see…

2016-01-22 03.11.17 2016-01-22 03.11.20

So here’s the deal with this.  First, your Rocket is “ready” after you send it to “Blast Off” and the 12hr task is complete.  There’s no cool down time beyond that.

To send your Rocket on a “mission” simply tap the Rocket and you’ll see…2016-01-22 03.12.39

Hit Start and then you can “Blast Off!”…
2016-01-22 03.12.41

Your Rocket will either take off or have a failed mission.    If it’s a failed mission your Rocket won’t launch and your platform will catch on fire, almost immediately, it’ll look like this:

2016-01-22 03.54.10

And the first time this happens you’ll see this pop up:

2016-01-22 03.11.36

All you have to do is wait until the task clears in 12hrs and then you can try another launch.

If you have success your Rocket will disappear right away…and your platform will look like this:

2016-01-22 03.53.38

Once the 12hrs are up your Rocket will come back with a “prize” from Space…the prize will either be:

-Debris (just like the trash in your Springfield that you clean up)
-Kang/Kodos Topiary
-Mini Nuclear Warhead
-Hail Ants Sign

I’ll warn you…you’ll mostly get Debri and the Hail Ants sign…

The prizes will popup just like prizes for other events, and you’ll have the option to place or store them:

2016-01-22 03.53.48 2016-01-22 03.12.14

So if you can’t find them check out your inventory…

Remember you only have a 1 and 4 chance that the Rocket will take off and bring back a prize.  So don’t panic when your Platform is on fire over and over again.

And that’s the breakdown on the Platform!

What’s Next?

Nothing!  Once you’ve unlocked the Rocket and completed the questline above you’ve completed the Deep Space Homer Event.  There’s no point on sending your characters to earn more stars, you don’t need them.  So at this point you can go back to sending your characters on their regular tasks. 🙂

What are your thoughts on the Rocket and prizes?  Have you earned it yet? Did you enjoy the Deep Space Homer event?  Which prizes is your favorite?  What do you think will come next?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Holy crap! EA wasted NO TIME patching the Launch Pad glitch. Wow.

  2. So it seems the update that hit last night patched the store and replace launch pad bug, but does it seem weird to anyone how they patched it: instead of making the pad unstoreable or making it so storing doesn’t affect the countdown clock (like the playdough factory and the find Maggie game) they just made it so if you store and replace the pad your launch will fail. Almost seems like they’re messing with us.

  3. Woohoo! Got Kang (or Kodos?) topiary in my first launch after the initial debris prize and placed it in my spooky maze. Not something I’d ever spend donuts on but fun to have. Also taking advantage of the store and replace trick, as well as the “second” launch platform glitch. 😀

  4. After 4 hail ants signs and 3x debris I finally got the missile. Nice bonus worth 45 donuts. And yesterday in mystery box I got Channel 6 Van with similar % bonus.

    • Tracy - 1ltwoody920

I woke up this morning and received a Kang Tiopiary. A decent bonus.
But my Day 5 Mystery Box yielded another Fishing Hole..
      Ehhh.
My Railyard finally stopped giving me 5 Glass Bottle tasks (that take 3 hours to regenerate) and am currently 7,000 away from earning my next Five Donuts.
      Game wise, a good day.
Next week, Level LX – 60.

69,996 – and waiting for one more metal to be generated so I can spend almost 500 points to achieve the 4 I need.

  5. It’s rather a shame that EA forgot that Space Shuttle Challenger blew up 30 years ago tomorrow when designing an event with a 1 in 4 chance of successfully launching your rocket… resulting in it bursting into flames and crashing.

Still – at least you can wait 12 hours and try again this time!

  6. I just got a donut from cleaning debris I got from my space launch.

  7. So is the event basically done once we get to launching every 12 hours? Or is more content coming?

  8. what was the bit about the observatory? I haven’t bought it yet but does something continue if you have it? I accidentally clicked a little too fast and didn’t see what it said continues. Is it worth buying the observatory for it?

  9. Hello!

In 4 launches, I got 2 hail ants sign and 2 debris.

The debris didn’t go to my inventory, I’m guessing there’s some kind of bug going on.

Also, I got a donut for clearing the debris from space!

Thanks for the blog, girls, keep up the good work 😀

  10. Jennifer Welshimer

So I learned a little trick that some might like to know……as you know when you launch the rocket ship it either blasts off or catchs fire and the only way at the end of the 12 hrs to get a prize the rocket must blast off. Well if it does not blast off instead of waiting the 12 hrs to try again just store the rocket in your inventory and then place it right back and you are given another chance to blast your rocket off. That way every time you are giving yourself a chance at one of the prizes. Hope someone else finds this useful! Thanks

  11. Just a quick note: I discovered that each of the Simpsons Family (Lisa, Bart, and Marge) has a 6hr “Buy Space Food” task with a small dialogue for each. Once you do all three, you get 5 donuts!

  12. I got excited when I saw the Homer “Eat potato chips” task. Got disappointed when I realized it was an inside task, no visual of Homer actually floating and eating those chips 🙁

  13. When my rocket caught on fire, I stored it, replaced it and then launched it again. I didn’t want to wait 12 hours!

  14. So, I can’t make Homer launch the ship. There is no ship. It didn’t automagically upgrade to include the rocket ship, yet I got Quimby’s set up of Part 7. Did i do something wrong? Can anyone help, please?

    • There’s a bug going around impacting some players. Best thing I can tell you to do is contact EA. They’re working on a patch, but the more that contact the quicker it’ll go. The good news is there’s still more than a week left in the event…

  15. Thanks for the post! 🙂
I have sent my rocket out twice. Both times I got debris, however, the second time it did not deposit them in my inventory. Are there any more cases like this out there? On a side note: I see these “things” floating through my town, it looks like they spinning, round with lines and a yellowish color. What is that? Are they potato chips?

  16. I love the idea of winning Mini Nuclear Warhead as imtoo mean to actually buy them.

In terms of the debris is this cleared up by Homer and Lisa and if so any chances of dohnuts?

  17. Thank you for this post! I wasn’t sure how to prioritize this week but after seeing the rocket prizes I’ve decided to take care of my monorail stuff first. I’m sure I can get enough stars for the rocket before the event ends but I’m not in a hurry. I’d rather have the 5 donuts from recycling than the prizes from the rocket.

  18. If your rocket crashes, currently you can store it, re-place it, and try to launch it again. Repeat until you get the 1 in 4 time it takes off.

    • OMG thank you!!! I’ve had 3 unsuccessful launches since getting the task to launch it. So there goes 36 hours of wasted time. Before reading your comment, I sent it up again…only to watch it crash and burn.

I did what you recommended, and finally got a successful launch. Now to wait and see what I get in 12 hours 🙂

So much better than waiting and trying again!

    • This is a great tip! Now I wonder if storing will work for the Playdough Factory after finding Maggie 3 times so you don’t have to wait to start finding her again.

    • That’s an awesome find — but I don’t expect it’ll stay like that for long. EA will probably make the rocket non-storable, either permanently or at least while it’s on fire.

    • It’s starting to look like this results in your reward not making it into your inventory. Has anyone gotten anything besides non-appearing debris this way?

      • Same here, if you try to bypass by storing and relaunching you do not really get the prizes

      • I have gotten two ant signs since trying this trick. But I’m placing them not putting them in storage. I did lose one set of debris by storing it and it not being there but my plan is to not store anything until I place it and see if that works! So far so good!

      • I’ve been doing this and have gotten 2 hail ants signs, 1 kang topiary and one piece of debris so far, only the subsequent pieces of debris have not made it into my inventory, all of the “real” prizes I got just fine.

      • All my. debris goes straight to storage (no option to place), and then it’s not there. This happened before I started storing after a failed launch and every time since then. Which is a shame if the odd bonut is hiding in it.

  19. Anyone else having monorail glitch since this Tuesday. I hit 5000 but it is not giving track pieces. It credits correct # ( over 5000) but is stuck.

  20. I had a successful launch, and I was rewarded with debris, but it’s not in my storage. ☹️

  21. I wonder if rocket blasting will continue after the event, it’s a lot of fun

  22. Wait, what’s this? I haven’t gotten anything about it in my game. Am I missing something?

  23. I know they’re free, but I have to say the prizes are pretty underwhelming. They really need to update the mystery box prizes too. The only thing worth getting after a certain point is donuts.

  24. Literally, I am only getting Rubbish from my rocket launches..

    • barleecreations (canid88)

Well that is better then what I’ve gotten, out of two launches my rocket has crashed. So far I’m not impressed with this part of the game. 🙁

      • Just store it and re-place it. Launch again. Happy days 🙂

      • Store the launch platform than place it back and than you can try it again without having to wait 12 hours

      • When it crashes, just store and replace it and you get another shot. I did that three times this morning before it gave me a successful blast off. At some point they’ll probably patch that bug, but, for now, definitely exploit it! 🙂

  25. When i finished all the quest it said that i unlocked the spaceship and the task to send it to space but i cdnt find the ship anywhere searched my inventory nothing no spaceahip to be found

    • It’s on your platform. The post you’re commenting on tells you exactly that. It automatically appears, on the platform you built at the start

      • The problem is… it didn’t automatically appear. I have the same problem. The platform is empty and the “do it” button for launching the space ship is missing. I tried storing the platform, going to Krustyland and back, hard closing. Nothing worked. Someone on the EA forum wrote that they uninstalled the game and installed it again, didn’t work either.

      • i have unlocked the spaceship but when i send homer to launch it there is no do it button and the ship is nowehere to be found?! It kinda odd this is the first time this happened to me i am playing the game for years

        • Did you finish the questline first? Or just unlocked the ship? To get the launch option you have to finish the questline…

        • You don’t launch the ship by sending Homer on his “launch the rocket” task. You just tap the rocket platform and it should give you the option to prepare ship to launch and then blast off. Homer isn’t needed for this.

          • Unless you’re not done with the questline but on part 7. At that point you do need Homer to launch the ship as part of the quest…

  26. I cleaned up all my debris, why are people storing it? Is debris a good thing??

    • Some people like to use the debris as decoration.

    • I think some people like to use it as decorations in certain parts of town. If they’re not going to give us donuts for cleaning up the new debris, there’s not much reward in doing it.

    • Some folks like to use it to decorate certain areas…for example, I put some extra debris around my Springfield City Dump and my tire fire area.

There was a whole comment chain in one of the fairly recent posts (can’t remember which one, off hand) about some of the different ways folks have used debris.

OTOH, cleaning up debris (at least the kind that comes when you buy a new patch of the original land) can sometimes (but not often) earn you a free donut, so that’s a trade off you make when you decide not to clean it up.

      • I would argue that there are plenty of ways to get donuts, but debris is finite. (Although perhaps less finite now, if it gets fixed so we actually get the debris from the rocket.) Anyway, since we can’t but more debris for any amount of donuts, I don’t think the rare donut from cleaning up is worth it.

  27. what does NARA stand for?

  28. Still no hangar so I’m still stuck. Contacted EA, I got an email saying case is closed but nothings been resolved.

    • EA seems to automatically send those “case is closed” emails. Get a hold of a chat or phone customer service (such an overstatement) person and tell him/her that the case absolutely isn’t closed and that you want it or a new one opened. I’ve done this in the past. Sometimes you have to go through a few reps before you get one who is helpful.

  29.
I completed ‘Cheap Space Homer part 6′ and was told my launch pad was upgraded, but it didn’t. Part 7 started but when I try to send Homer on task from the side bar, I am missing the “Do it’ button. I’m assuming homer can’t complete the task if the shuttle isn’t there.

I tried everything (clearing the cache, closing the game, storing the launch platform, going to krustyland, I even reinstalled the game. TWICE. ) Any ideas? Am I missing something?

  30. Does anyone else have “Do Narobics- 3h” stuck at the top of their tasklists for Luann/Hoover/Marge despite having completed the questline? It’s kind of annoying throwing them onto a 3h task by accident all the time.

    • Yep, me too. Probably will keep seeing this until EA updates the game with something else, that’s when they usually fix bugs like this… Should happen soon, as we are LONG overdue for Level 60…

    • I noticed this after I had collected all needed stars, but I think it was before I had completed all of the questline. Now it’s gone.
