Our games have turned dark, the water is mucky and the trees have changed colors….it must be Halloween in Springfield!
The Halloween Event hit our devices yesterday afternoon and with it arrived, not only various monsters invading our pocket-sized Springfields, but a whole new questline to work our way through!
As was mentioned on the rundown post Act 1 runs until October 18th, and you’ll need Homer and Lisa free for a variety of 6s tasks to get things started.
Remember, the questline is there to guide you. So when you get stuck on something, or haven’t unlocked something, just follow along with the questline and it’ll take you through everything you need to do to complete the first Act and unlock everything you need in order to play properly.
So let’s take a look at the questline to see just what you need to do get rid of those Monsters and help Lisa get into a good school (you know if she ever ages beyond 8)….

Thank you for posting this so quickly Alissa …. I wish EA had released this Update without so many bugs (c’mon EA! you’ve had 4 years with this game app)!
Its my second event, so I’m really liking it, yeah we got some bugs here and there but nothing TOOOOOO annoying. Loving the feral beasts and looking forward for Count Burns Castle.
I find it rather greedy and despicable of EA to charge 40 donuts just to unlock a road. Not everyone has a hacked game or tons of money to spend on a ‘free’ game, some of us actually have to work for weeks to months on our games just to get that many donuts. And it’s a waste to spend it on a road that gives nothing when I could potentially spend them on something that gives back.
And that would be your choice. Free Will…voting with your donuts…all of that.
What the cobblestone road will give you is a more beautiful town design. You can buy, earn, or cheat donuts, neither of those choices will make you SPFD unique or make people say “Wow, that looks awesome!” . I wanted dirt road for a year and a half. Its now here and my designs leveled up, so to speak. Im thinking about pulling the trig on the cobbles myself. I would hate for them to go away for a whole year and have to put my designing on hold. Bonus shmonus. Cobblesstones will look fantastic.
Remember, this is a sandbox based town design game. The whole point is to design a town using items from a cartoon show called The Simpsons. The more items you have the more intricate designs you can create. However, everything doesnt have to be more than what it is. Sometimes a cheap old tree well placed can make a design pop. Im a huge fan of hedges. I say buy the cobblestone road and if it doesnt make all your wildest dreams come true, contact EA and whine till you get the donuts back.
Sometimes i wonder who is greedier. EA or the tappers.

Maybe they making some surprise event for the actual Halloweentime and rest of November?
BTW what is your opinion on the 60 Donut Mystery Box? Should I spend my donuts on it or keep it for later?

I have been noticing that if I leave my game open for a few minutes while collecting cash and character tasks, the feral monsters have been congregating around the MAG office and in my old west areas. (makes them much easier to find). Has anyone else noticed this?
That seems to be a thing with the bigger events where we have to tap things in our town…they’ll congregate towards the camera focus or a building.

I’m a new fairly new player, so I’m in the first quest challenge. I discovered that while Homer is still busy doing another task, I can make Lisa earn so much money with repeating her 6s task making so much money! I’m a freemium user and happy wth this way of collecting loads of cash.Hope this sharing excites other as much as myself
Earned the town square this morning and I also unlocked the cobblestone streets. I can’t get 4 streets lined up to it. I can get two opposite sides but not the other two. I can put a building up to the other edges thought.
Am I an idiot or has anyone else found this?

Me too! so annoying. I used it as a kind of driveway in front of the house which it lines up with and the opposite piece of road but I’m not entirely satisfied with it…
My town is empty of monsters because i beat them all. The counter to bring new monster is resetting itself everytime log in to 4 hours. Does anyone else have the same problem?

It’s out for me. I have a kindle and I got the update yesterday around 5:30 EST.
Unless you live in the UK, Kindle went live yesterday. About an hour after ios Try hard closing your kindle, been reading that helps most out.
Super happy that the kids trick or treating is back. I loved it last time they had it and earning the different types of bags. It just makes my heart happy watching them wander around in their costumes.

I kept my game on all day yesterday in order to keep the 4x SFH rewards going until I could upgrade my buildings. Finally DL the update last night, which seems to have been a good move, since I saw that the release for Android was delayed anyway. I’m now having a weird issue with my screen timing out while in game which it never does on my device. This has to be an issue with the game, because there isn’t a phone setting that allows for it to beveryone set individually. That was the only app on my phone for which the screen never timed out. Anyone else have an issue with this?
Unfortunately this is now controlled by the device settings. The only way is to change your display to stay on longer.
I have this too. Lame change. Just about the worst thing that EA has done (for me) in the game so far.
Has anyone made it to the “Where the Wild things aren’t’ quest? I didn’t see that here yet… you have to place 3 cameras in friends towns… of course i already visited villages this morning… plus I didn’t see Ferral Rats to tap in friends’ villages either, should we be able to tap them for currency?
Nope. Just placing cameras at this point. You are rewarded for doing so.

All I saw was XP and cash.

Was it just for the one Friend town? I went to other friends towns, and I was only getting XP and cash
I get them on every town (up to a limit that I haven’t seen yet)…so maybe you need to wait to move on. Wait for an hour. Then come back in and check.
(Just to clarify, I am getting cameras in other friends towns, just no film when I tap three of them)

When I went through my list, I kept getting Cameras and Film also, but happened to notice after so many, the counter stopped even if it was dropping cameras and film. Went back to my town, and in a friends town tapped more, and got cash. So there is a limit, just not certain when it stops. Probably the usual 30-40 towns?

Every time I go back to do the monster battle, the timer has reset, I send the two tricker treaters out, send a few of the characters that can earn items to the tower to do their 4 hour tasks, but the Monster Battle timer is always counting down, and even when it is at less than an hour at times, I go back and the timer has gone back to 2 or even 3 hours till Monsters return.
The only monster battle I have done so far is the first one and that was over 12 hours ago and the timer hasn’t made it to 0 yet so I can battle some more,
Any idea why it’s doing this?

Giant moster timer seems to be broken :-/
Is it just me, or is it impossible to align the town square with the cobblestone roads on all four sides? I can only get one to work, and it looks ridiculous. Having the same timer issues with monster fights.
I would recommend to go ahead and craft one Iron Wall in order to complete “How Much is that Werewolf in the window” quest. This will unlock Milhouse’s ability to trick-or-treat. I waiting too long thinking I needed to hold on to Obols but earning film is better right now.
Humm, I completed that task by building the spooky house or whatever it’s called. But it didn’t unlock anything for Milhouse.
Hmmm… try clicking on the Medieval Rich House if you have it. It should have any available kids for trick-or-treating. do you have at least Bart yet?

In my game, the spooky houses don’t give MAG points, which is what you need to unlock jobs and other prizes on the MAG point track. Perhaps that’s because the spooky houses are a returning item? They were introduced a couple of Halloweens ago I believe. Items that are new for this Halloween event appear to award MAG points. Hope this helps.
Loving the event so far but there is definitely something wrong with the giant monster timer. I just finished two battles with Apu and Cletus and the timer said 3 hrs and 12 mins remaining, which is a very random number. I closed the game and opened it back up and now it says 3 hrs and 55 mins. I have no desire to personally deal with EA customer service as they are the worst but I hope it gets fixed soon.
I haven’t read the article yet as I don’t want to spoil the new Halloween event as Amazon has not got the update yet (again) – grrrrr……..

If I recall correctly Amazon uk did exactly the same thing last year, delayed it nearly 2 days. But the rest of the past year has been fine. I mean we’re always behind iOS and android but then Halloween updates have got really bad

I’ll be looking at a new device at the end of the year not because of this, just because mine is getting old, but it will mean I probably won’t buy Kindle again as they are slower at sorting things than android and ios
What time zone are you in? As you would think that as the UK is hours ahead of the US we would get it first!!

For Android it was released in Europe before USA. A couple of hours after I had installed the update I still saw comments here coming about people waiting for the update to be released.
Everything seems pretty straight forward. I did not get the download on android until about 3 HOURS after it hit Apple…come on EA!!! I don’t like the lull between monster battles either. Why a four hour period of no monsters to draw out the questline so much? Having only two characters to go trick or treating right now stinks as well…I know more will unlock as currency earned, but for crying out loud. I wonder how many people are blowing through a plethora of donuts just to pick up the pace. I spent some, but gave up after rushing a couple trick or treat outings and buying cobblestone road. I love the road though!
I can’t understand why sometimes I can do 4 monster fights and sometimes only 2, but never yet 3. It doesn’t help if I have all potential fighters free.
I’m not following either. First time 3 battles, then 2, now 2 again.
I had three fights going on last night, but only two today. Couldn’t figure it out either.
Same here. I had 3 the first time and then 2 and 2. Plus it wouldn’t give me the option of sending Homer after the first round. Not sure if he was a one time quest related option.
Homer’s task was attached to the quest from what I could see. After the quest, his ability stops, unless it unlocks again at some point.
As for the number of battles, from what I’m seeing it also depends on how many snakes are active in your own. If there was initially 5, and you only sent three, then the next time you would only be able to send two. Not sure what happens after those two as I am still waiting on this battle, but I’m thinking it refreshes back to 5 again, but may be on the 24 hour clock schedule also.
I had three battles in the first round, then I had to wait a couple of hours for next battle so I went to sleep instead. The second round I could send two but after about two hours I could send two more. The first two of those have finished now and I am waiting for the other two to finish. I haven’t been able to send anyone else so far, maybe there’ll be waiting time before I can battle again or maybe I can send more as soon as the last two finish.
