We present to you TSTO Addicts’ Best THOH Segment Bracket Battle.
Below you’ll find all 81 beloved THOH segments that will have aired in the first 600 episodes of The Simpsons up to and including this seasons’ THOH XXVII. The segments have been organized into three conferences based on their sequential appearance in each THOH anthology: first, second, or third segment. The segments will battle each other in four rounds of head-to-head-to-head matchups, that we hope produce the most debate in the comments below. We’ll do our best to convince you of each segments’ merits, but it’s ultimately up to you. Twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays over the next three weeks, we’ll post the matchups and your votes over the next 48 hours will determine which segments advance to the next round, until we’ve crowned “The Best THOH Segment” on Monday October 31st.

The schedule of matchups is as follows:
- Tuesday October 11th – The 7 vs 12 vs 21 matchup, 8 vs 11 vs 20 matchup, 9 vs 10 vs 19 matchup in all three conferences
- Friday October 14th – The 4 vs 15 vs 24 matchup, 5 vs 14 vs 23 matchup, 6 vs 13 vs 22 matchup in all three conferences
- Tuesday October 18th – The 1 vs 18 vs 27 matchup, 2 vs 17 vs 26 matchup, 3 vs 16 vs 25 matchup in all three conferences
- Friday October 21st – The semi-final matchups in all three conferences
- Tuesday October 25th – The final matchup in all three conferences
- Friday October 28th – The Championship Finals
- Monday October 31st – The winner is unveiled
As with the original Bracket Battle, each matchup is accompanied by a ‘Tale of the Tape’. This Bracket’s Tale includes the segment name, the original air date, the episode number, the writer of the segment, the director of the segment, a short plot synopsis, a plot critique (featuring critique by BuzzFeed news reporter Louis Peitzman that I have edited/tweaked), a memorable quote, a list of guest stars in the segment, and an ask the expert conclusion.

I love the old THOHs; they’re like old friends. Some of my faves are The Devil and Homer Simpson, The Shinning, Dial ‘Z’ for Zombies, and of course Bart Simpson’s “Dracula.”
I haven’t seen any of the newer ones since Season 14 or so. I really wish they’d do a compilation just of THOH.
Will this week’s THOH segments be added as they look AWESOME!
Yup, but THOH XXVII will be going up against THOH XVIII and the tough to beat gold standard, the original THOH.
its kinda sad i dont know much of this since i haven’t watched the simpsons in many many years being from australia for a long time they never aired the simpsons only once we got more channels have they started playing it again (not that i watch it just googled it a while back )
Wiz Kids for the win!! I actually really liked “How to get ahead in Dead-vertising” despite being rated as weak by many. Another personal favourites are ‘the others’ and ‘Nighmare on Everygreen Terrace’ which actually scared me. Lll
Okay, so this post got me rewatching some THOHs and I have narrowed down my top 3 segments. It was a hard decision:

I admit my memory isn’t the best. Voted as best as I could remember 😉
Admittedly I only have very hazy memories of some of them, and I planned on giving them a whirl in my DVD-player before actually voting – but if I don’t remember them, they couldn’t have been that impressive in the first place, could they? So all my votes went to the ones that stuck in my mind.
I know there will be a post coming, but I want to make sure I’m not missing something, I just achieved the 6th prize, the small obol pack, and it appears to be 10 (or less, I was tapping on the hellhounds at the time) obols. I looked in my inventory, nothing there. Is the 6th prize seriously the equivalent of 1 dead tree???
Unfortunately, yes it’s only 10. I believe they’re going to be offering some bigger ones in later acts but it seems like they could have made the obol prizes a little bigger in this first act. It seems like the crafting in this event and Sci-Fi have been a little out of whack.

Oh yes, I’d forgotten about that! I think I assumed too that it’d be at least 20 or so for the later prize. So weird. Usually the prizes get better/more valuable as you move along the track. It’s like 1 round of trick or treating. I crafted 1/3 of a bramble patch with my prize 😉
Just placed my votes. Loving the bracket thoh challenge safi! Since your the king of graphs & charts, would it be possible to make one up on the number of decorations & building’s with available space given. A sort of like ratio, to see what kind of numbers we would get and find out what our limit should roughly be… if possible! Obviously after the event though! Please!

Very exciting.
My face instantly lit up when I saw this post. A bracket battle AND THOH?! TOGETHER?! I must be dreaming because this is too good. Thank you, Safi! So looking forward to this one. To top it off, they’re playing THOH episodes on tv almost everyday (but they’ve started at xxiii for some reason) so I am one happy camper. Excited to see what my fellow tappers favourites are! 🎃

Though the actual Rocky VII, aka Creed, was more ‘Apollo’s Son’s Revenge’. As a huge fan of the Rocky series, I must say I actually really enjoyed Creed.

Seriously…the corny dialogue was the best part!
I don’t know whether I should vote on sets for which I haven’t seen (or don’t remember) all three episodes…seems unfair to vote just on the descriptions and reviews provided in the tale of the tape (as good as they may be). And, believe it or not, I’ve never been a big THOH fan, in general (I know – heresy), so there are a bunch I’ve either never seen or only seen once and don’t remember well enough to judge.
But thanks for running another bracket, Safi – I know how much folks have been wanting another one, and also how much work it takes to put one together!
But… but… but… Where is the bad dream house? 🙁 I watched the first Halloween episode over and over again, on vhs, as a kid.
This is Round 1, Part 1. There is still a Part 2 and Part 3.
We’ve only covered 9 of 27 episodes.

Starship Poopers has the best ending in my opinion. The Simpsons challenging Kang and Kodos to destroy all the politicians and not to forget Ken Star. Good times.
