It’s nearly Halloween…only 4 more days…and if this event isn’t Hallo-weenie enough for us, at least EA’s given us a Halloween Mystery Box! The most Hallo-Richard thing in all of Springfield this year is a box full of items from Halloween past. Woo! (can you sense the excitement?)
This is a premium box full of your chance to get those limited-time premium character/building/decorations with a Halloween flair to them. By now we should all be familiar with how Mystery Boxes work, so let’s jump to the breakdown of what’s inside…
This Mystery Box is a great way to get items you may have missed out on from Previous Events at a low price…
And…if you already have everything in the box you won’t see the box in your store.
So for 50 donuts you can have your shot at a variety of Halloween Themed premium characters, skins, decorations and buildings from the past, 50 Donuts is less than the initial value for each item (although some were initially prizes, so they were free when released)

Now, while I know you can’t pick and choose which items you want from the box, I included the Should I Buy posts from the past so y’all can see how much they originally cost & what specifically each building/character does.
50 Donuts is a bargain for most of these items (especially for the Acorn Kirk skin (HILARIOUS animated task), Sepulcher of Evil & the Nightmare Pile)…except for items that were originally free, as getting it for free is the best deal…but still 50 donuts is a fair price for most of the items at least. So my thoughts are, if you have something in there you want…give it a try. You’ll likely get something worth it.

Hello! I’ve seen the term hallo-richard used a couple of times on the site. What are the origins of the term? Why is it used? I tried googling searching the site but couldn’t find an explanation (lots of Dutch and Halo related content though).
I’m in New Zealand and Halloween isn’t much of a thing here. A few stores and supermarkets get into it and one might see the odd trick or treater or themed school dance but I’d say only 10% of the population are into it.
You have to watch the Addicts Live to get the full meaning. But, I’ll give you a hint… it started with people saying that the event wasn’t Halloweenie enough.

This is why I farm for doughnuts. I was missing a number of things that are being offered by this deal. This Halloween event is so easy and boring that I needed something else to do. I got everything that I didn’t have (about 5 things), and now I have a bunch of quests going on that I wouldn’t otherwise have. Thank you EA. This is one of the few good things offered during this event.
Oh how I loathe the Mystery Box. Can’t believe they got me again. Devil Flanders and Acorn Kirk were just too tempting. Only had to spend 200 donuts to get them…seems like the donut torture device was all too appropriate. Not sure why EA thinks people want to take a chance on getting items they want. They ought to call the Mystery Box a Donut Torture Device.
Hope they offer Witch Marge during the event and here’s hoping I dont have to try for her in a Mystery Box.

I got Radioactive Millhouse, but it doesn’t show! So complete waste of 50 donuts in my case 🙁
Did you check your inventory? You need to go there to activate the skin for Milhouse

Check the characters section of your inventory – that’s where mine was
Did you look in your inventory? Sometimes with new skins you have to go find them in inventory, then click “Use,” before they’ll show up in the “skin slider” (eww…that sounds gross!).
I really wanted the nightmare pile but got the grand pumpkin, Kirk and nightmare Willie. Already have marge and the cauldron, the sepulcher, and the meteor egg from last year. Hopefully in the next two tries I get it.
The excitement is palpable! 😆
It’s a good deal for everything I didn’t have and it’s given me a few questlines to work through while I wait for the final act. 👍

Is anyone else to the point that all these events are just losing their luster? They follow the same format. Three acts, crafting, prizes, mystery boxes full of stuff most of us have?
I get it. It’s nice for EA to give people a second chance on some of the things that they weren’t able to get before. But, man, it would be nice if Tapped Out at least tried to do something innovative! Even most of the crafting prizes were repeats this time around.

Oh, I read this when it was posted. It just seems that with every new thing that the game adds, the redundancy comes with it.

Only thing in mine I sort of want is the Devil Flanders skin, and it looks like it doesn’t come with the Heck House skin for the church, which means his task list will be incomplete, which means I’m ignoring this whole box.
If I don’t have Luann, do I get Luann too or just the skin?

Does anyone know if the cauldron comes with witch marge? I won the cauldron but no sign of marge witch skin in my inventory. Ahh I really wanted witch marge!

Hey Alissa, thanks for the information on this mystery box. I’d like to add that the Cauldron is also part of the mystery box prize (though unfortunately Witch Marge isn’t included with this one). I ended up getting everything in the box, or already having them from past years.
I’m not terribly thrilled at getting another skin for Milhouse, but it’s a nice one. I previously only had Puritan Flanders, which is nice, but doesn’t have an 8-hour task, so Devil Flanders finally remedied that.
I wish EA fixed the Nightmare Pile so that you can now send multiple kids on their costumed 4 hour tasks like with the Zombie Sandwich (and also quick complete them at the Unemployment Office). I sure miss trick or treating from previous years.

I had almost everything but the skins, sepulcher, and pile and took a shot because I really wanted the sepulcher when originally offered but too expensive. And got it the first try! Woohoo!
on my first try was the cauldron, which was great because I really wanted marge’s witch skin – but all I got was the cauldron!
I’ve tried my luck with this box. Got the cauldron, but I can’t find witch Marge. Was it just the cauldron itself in there, or am I too stupid to find her skin?
