Addicts Open Thread is a staple of this site that dates back to January 2014. Only 10 of us readers (myself included) commented on that first open thread way back then, and here we are nearly half a decade later and tens of thousands of comments later.
The Addicts Open Thread is where this site truly becomes a community, where we can talk about anything we want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of The Simpsons) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING you desire…just keep it PG.

Hi Everybody!
Hope you all had a nice Labour Day. I was just doing my neighbour visits and I spotted a THOH NPC I don’t have. I got super jealous for a second but that was quickly replaced with excitement for this year’s THOH mystery boxes….
I decided to use up a ton of IGC I’ve accrued and spent it rat trap farming in anticipation of events to come. I just can’t keep the land freed up anymore. I’m down to my last 3 land tiles and desperate for space for my zoo; what else can an addict do…?
I’d like to thank EA for their glitches over the years. It has certainly made progressing through the levels to get to 939 easier.
Today I’m enjoying one of the recent ones, where a number of characters get locked in a loop in a building. Tap to clear them, but they don’t come out and you get the money for the clear. Do it again….
For me, this is the ~250 characters I get to send to the Steel Mill every four hours. As long as I have the patience to sit and cycle them, I get $800K and a level up (so three bonuts) every minute. Certainly will make Halloween event and Black Friday easier. I suspect I’ll lose this when I need to pull a character for some event related quest, but for now, let the good times roll.
A Patrick, because I do have a life, I’m only doing this cycle while preparing and eating supper, wasting time watching TV and settling down for bed. Not while I’m sleeping!

Hi there! I have a few questions I hope y’all can help me with – first, every 4 hours I tap on the zoo sign and send everyone that’s available to work on jobs for the attractions listed (didn’t realize you had to scroll for other attractions until just recently – argh!) and all characters are assigned, but for some reason I still have an “!” that some jobs are still available. So then I have a ? in my head because I can’t figure out who it is. I’ve gone through everyone individually and no one has any tasks for DNA but when I send the rest of my characters on 4-hour jobs, the “!” disappears. Who could it be? Also in this thread, I saw Ebron said there are 25+ characters you can send on zoo jobs??? Whoa! How many for characters that aren’t purchased for event? Upgrading my attractions is really slow going and I’m not sure what I’m missing.
Also. Recently, my % conformity bonus jumped by like 200% without me doing anything. Did EA fix something or assign % to old items previously without %?

I just got Mr. Money’s Mountain lvl 11!
You know what’s sort of ironic? Event after event I see people complain that they use the same core group, so this time EA expands the circle nice and wide – but in the process brings the monorail recycling to a grinding halt if you don’t have at least of a few of the premiums and people complain about that. EA can’t win with some people. I’m choosing to look at it this way: Just because I’ve been playing for years and have 200 characters doesn’t mean that everyone has, and I’d rather EA use characters given in the lower levels – even if that means shutting down the monorail recycle for a couple weeks – so that people at least have a fighting chance at the prize track as a freemium player.
That said, my wish for Christmas is to be able to keep Homer, Bart, Lisa and Ned in their Christmas skins for like, a month solid. No joke.
There’s no valid reason why the core characters can’t have visual tasks during events. I agree, I want to see my Simpson family during the holidays. We got to see the battles last year at the Rigellian ship…why are we back to everyone disappearing for 6 weeks at a time?
Even during ISL they were out and about wandering from ride to ride. I wasn’t really even talking about visual tasks, though. Just the use in general of the characters, because you’re right. We have had events where they were visual. My first couple halloweens there were kids trick or treating and telling stories at the bonfire. It’s just EA being lazy that the kids especially don’t have any visual zoo tasks.

Jenny and belle senior (from the good the bad and the drugly)

The Octuplets are kind of in the game already.
Apu has a 60 minute task “feed the octuplets”
Manjula (if you have her) has an 8 hour task “look after the octuplets”
Both tasks are visual tasks, but a task on their own would be cute too.
But they would probably get up to mischief. 😛

Did anyone bought the worm train? How big is that kangaroo, is he just decoration or he can do some job? If he can, does it mean he can just volunteering in this event or after event he will have a jobs to do?

I believe you can buy more currency for doughnuts. If your bonus is high enough and a good money stash, It’s efficient to farm rat trap trucks. I plan on waiting till the last few days and making some extras.

Wow just wow. I’ve added a bunch of friends during this event and one of the peeps i added today has such an amazing town. I don’t think i’ve ever spent more than 10-15 minutes looking over a town, but i probably spent 45 minutes checking this town out; and no doubt i will be going back for more. It is amazing. So well done. Just beautiful. I wish i could see the thought process of someone who designs like that.

I’ve been playing less than a year as well, I started at the end of Halloween 2017 – I’ve quickly caught up to my 2 sisters that have been playing for years with the help of the Lion Statue and Butterfly XP ‘opportunity’ – so glad I was home that day. I’m maxed on friends currently but don’t want to delete anyone who’s not played for around 6 weeks – they may just be sitting out this event.

Who would like to see a shelbyville update! It could almost be like a new crusty land or they could just make a new SH thing where they throw it over the mountains… who know I think it would be pretty cool saying I still miss krustyland 🙁
I think a lot of us like the idea of a Shelbville update but it may only make for a quality mini-update. There is such little content there and EA already poached some key Items for super premium buys. They’d have to be able to offer something more than a few Characters and yellow fire hydrants.

What’s the word on upgrading the habitats after the event is over? I’m trying to decide whether or not I should buy another habitat or fully upgrade the Warmonger habitat, as I don’t think I’ll have enough event currency to do both.

I wouldn’t take any chances and upgrade during the event.
I was wondering the same thing – If we buy the Peek-At-Em-Park will it keep producing Sanctuary Grants to level up the habitats and hence keep buying more?
Nothing has ever kept generating event currency after the event. It will almost certainly switch to cash.
I would keep the airport in mind…never saw any more runways for sale. 🙁
Such a sad truth. Still feel like I need more runway space. I mean, we got how many terminals with the little walkways? The ratio is way off. Sigh.

I have a question. When I go to some of my friends towns there is no option to drop Invasive Toads. Does that mean they are no longer active in the game? Just curious.
If it says 0, their town is full of Invasive Toads already. If the icon is completely missing, they aren’t playing the Event and haven’t yet reached the part of the initial questline that activates Invasive Toads.
That’s what I thought. I guess they aren’t playing anymore. There is no icon in the upper left corner to drop toads. I guess I need to clean out people who aren’t playing anymore.

They might just be sitting this event out. Some pick and choose between events. They may be back after the event so don’t kick ’em to the curb just yet. Check their status in your friends list. If they haven’t played for less than 6 weeks, the’re just sitting this one out. Even if the’re not playing, you can still collect currency by tapping toads. I usually wait until between events when I can no longer collect rent from their buildings to start culling the herd. Active players are more fun, but inactive players are still useful. Zombies are people too!
I do this a lot in my B town. Skip the big events if there’s nothing on the prize track that grabs me. Or like with ISL… it was just too dang laggy to put in the time required for two towns.
As for the actual inactive neighbours… look at it this way? Typically they have smallish towns which makes finding tappables way easier, and for this event they still can give tadpoles, which you can then drop on neighbours that are active. I usually give mine to the neighbours just a smidge behind the calendar to help them out.

Yes I don’t get rid of neighbors till they have not play for ten weeks it is so hard deciding to get ride of them if I ever quit I will get rid of all my neighbors so they don’t have to wonder if I quit

I added a person, yesterday i think, that has the zoo sign opening thing that you land on during the event, and they have like, i dunno, 80 or 100 dna things, but all the exhibits must’ve been put away, and somehow they don’t have the frog counter, and of course the first thing they did when i friended them was tag my buildings. It’s kinda weird they have the event, but they don’t have the event going.
It is not gym class unless some fat kid is crying.

I don’t know how others are doing, but this latest event has caused me so many issues with getting booted out over and over again. I had no issues before this. It happens in my town a lot but it’s awful in neighbor’s towns.
It was a dark and stormy night when I also found that I repeatedly have been getting “oh no not that screen”. The rain was beating down on me when Mad Dr Hibbert appeared on his way to the Family Clinic. I peak in the window and saw a fat man submitting his DNA.
…it was Kasper “The Fatman” Gutman(alias Sidney Greenstreet)…
Cairo crosses the room and hits him over the head with a black bird statue. He crumples to the ground muttering “tappa, tappa, tappa”…
I really want to talk about somespeculation for the next event which I think is THOH (but Im gonna do two if it isn’t) I would love for Halloween to be a murder mystery they can then add a character that has died in the Simpson’s being the one who died so we get whoever it is and a ghost skin. We would find out who the murder is at the end of act 3 and if it is a character we have seen in the game we would get and arrested skin for him/her in what they are forced to wear in prison. Don’t know what prizes they could have. For a non annual event I would love sci-fi 2 can’t think of a story or what could happen just sci-fi 2 I loved the first sci-fi.
I’d expect a spectacular donut dropping mini event first like they drop on us every year before Halloween. EA already got me to drop a boatload between ISKland and Moe’s Ark, so they’re all good there.
I’m never good at predictions when it comes to TSTO. Their teasers seem to be more like trolls, although a lot of Tapoers did accurately predict a zoo.
I’ve been saying for awhile look for some upgrades to KL to go with their one Halloween canon episode. On the other hand, I’m almost never right on EA predictions.
I would like to see an IT / Stranger Things crossover for Halloween.
“Krustywise” is a no-brainer, and Grampa would make an excellent “Number 111”.

So jealous of all the people that can actually watch Stranger Things. I’ve had several people warn me off because of flickery scenes (I have a seizure disorder that has twice in the past been triggered by movie/tv shows, once in the theatre… most embarrassing moment of my life). I’ve heard such good things but better safe than sorry, I guess.

I highly doubt they’ll ever do a crossover that hasn’t happened in the show and personally…not a fan. That would automatically be my least favorite event.
Last week I was able to get the Rock and a Hard Place from Roads to Riches quest line. Incredibly disappointing. I was hoping for more but after Homer’s task nothing happens. It just sits there. Not even an animation. I’m I missing something here?
Homer has a task there, experience irony, I think it’s 8 hours, but you have to choose it manually, because he has several 8 hour tasks (even for the regular Homer, not additional skins) and it would not be chosen by the office of unemployment. Plus he is frequently tied up in events anyway…

I agree. I can’t play mini games I need because he’s not available, I can’t enjoy the premium tasks I paid money for because he’s never available he has so many skins and tasks available only to him, we can’t enjoy things we paid premium prices for only to never see!
If you’re ahead of the calendar, you can always choose not to send him on the zoo task. There are already 25+ other characters working at the zoo, seems like one less won’t make much off a difference for many tappers. I understand that many tappers need ever worker they have, but if you’re ahead, why not re-task him?😁

Hey I wanted to start this off by saying in the past 30 days I have gotten just about 100 donuts from KEM Farming, I started with 60% and worked my way to just about 120%( I doubled my percentage!!!) so I’m super happy about that. Second I feel this had definitely been the best event so far, who cares it went a little out there, and I feel like they have a lot of good stuff coming as they have listened to the fans on this one so that’s pretty great. Other wise have a good day I have lots of studying for my collage class quiz on Tuesday… enjoy Monday off everyone!!!

It’s raining! They promised us 10-20mm today and I’ve been waiting impatiently all day. And it’s finally happening… Happiness is! 😄 And since 1 September (September, 1 😄) is considered the start of Spring for those blessed to live in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s only fitting that it is raining. But although the flowers and trees believe it is spring (some pics below for you Fall folk 😄), winter is not yet ready to let go down here with a couple of days only reaching 11°C (52°F) this week ! We are also forecast to have rain almost every day this week building up to a 90% chance of 40-80mm on Thursday! Bit nervous as to how my town will cope if that actually happens but we do need the water…🤔😯
Had a good sporting weekend: I managed to play some tennis on Friday and Saturday without breaking anything so today I went and played squash against the son of a friend of mine. And while I survived it intact, I can tell that tomorrow I am going to be stiff as all h…! And to make it worse I lost! But as soon as I get a bit fitter I will take him to the cleaners 😄😄😄
Act 3 is going fine – next up is Mad Dr Hibbert either tonight or tomorrow. And nope, I still haven’t designed anything and that’s just how it’s going to be for a while 😄 Still enjoying the design possibilities that the extra parts of the zoo pieces will give us even if I’m not actually designing anything yet but it doesn’t have to make sense – it’s Tapped Out after all. Besides, logic is overrated 😉😄😄😄

MAB – Hello Hello. Absolutely loving the photos. You’re welcoming the rain & I’m hoping it holds off over here🤗. We’re having a late burst of sun which is very welcome. I used to play squash when a company I worked for had a free membership to a gym that had squash courts. A coworker played for the first time and asked if his butt was supposed to hurt after playing. It is a great workout for your glutes. If you haven’t played in a while you will definitely feel it.
By the way, love your flower pictures. They are beautiful! Thank you for posting them.

Love the flower pictures, especially since Labour Day Weekend marks the unofficial start to fall around here (all the public school kids go back to school on Tuesday. My sister’s class at the Christian school started this past Wednesday.) and those will soon be in short supply as hopefully *knocks on wood* the rain starts to move back in in a couple weeks.
I do have nice, blue, smoke-free skies today but the state of emergency was extended this week, so I know other parts of the province aren’t so lucky. Either way I welcome the rain for the poor stressed out trees. I hope it graces us with its presence soon. Hope you fair well with the big amount coming your way.
I’ve had a pretty good week save for Tuesday – slipped on a toy while getting up after changing my nieces’ diapers and smashed my knee into the wood floor, so I’m a little hobbled right now – Monday I went with the girls and my brother in law to Departure Bay Beach where they played on the slides and then followed the ‘ducks’ around. They where Canada Geese, easily a dozen, and super chill about these little 23 month old girls just wandering around after them. You always hear stories about how mean and violent Canada Geese can be so I’m glad it was a nice experience for them, especially since they were convinced of the duck thing and love ducks.
I splurged this week and ordered myself some tea, as the summer tea club for that store ends tomorrow and means my 20 percent discount is ending. Might as well stock up on the expensive stuff while it’s cheap, right? Looking forward to lots of relaxing cups of tea with my nose stuck in a book and my fuzzy reading socks on when it cools down fully.
Act 3’s going nicely. Picked up Yoyo and haven’t stopped smiling every time I see her. The bonus on the worm train was unexpected. Hoping to have the Dr. Hibbert skin later today.
I’ve never seen, or even heard of, a coral tree before. That looks pretty cool. Does it have a good scent?

The flower pictures are great…I’ve never seen a “coral tree” before, maybe can post a picture after it leafs out? The seed pods are really cool and exotic looking…bet they would be nice on a wicker wreath or in a dry arrangement.

Has EA made a official statement about not adding Phil Hartman characters (Troy McClure, Lionel Hutz etc.) I am aware he sadly passed away but adding these characters would make my day
The Simpsons made an official statement that they were retired from the show. It is assumed that their wishes were passed on to EA when they formed this partnership.
I thought they said they wouldn’t have them on the show, because they wouldn’t recast the parts. In my opinion, that shouldn’t keep them from coming to the game unvoiced. I actually think it would be a nice tribute to Phil Hartman so we would all have a daily reminder of him when we see his characters, kinda like how I think of Marcia Wallace and Stephen Hawking everyday.
While I agree, having these characters would indeed be a tribute- better than a moratorium, it would have to be addressed in the right way with the family.
Even voiced, they could can take some “hi, I’m Troy McClure” quotes from Simpsons episodes.
or just “Hi, I’m Troy McClure. You may remember me from the Simpsons”
SAFI – Bonjour mon copain canadien. I’ve a numbers question & I wanted to be sure you’d see it. Here goes….I’ve just noticed that my multiplier % has a random number after the decimal point like 11, 27, 63, etc. I didn’t notice that before as my % is massive, so no need to look at it.
