Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

  1. Since Addicts Live is on a break for the rest of the summer, could the “Musings” posts be brought back (maybe in the breaks between acts and events) while the Addicts Live is on break? Some ideas on musings posts could be musings on the last 2 events (Springfield Enlightened and Tavern Trouble) and the last 2 special episodes on Disney+ (The Force Awakens From Its Nap and The Good, the Bart and the Loki).

    • Santos…i would love to. The musings posts were some of my favorites to write. But, honestly, I’m so busy with work right now I barely have time to keep up with the regular posts on this site. Trying to add anything else to my plate right now would make it tip over, unfortunately. (which is why I cut out WDTCFs for now) Doing what I can to still keep the site going with the information posts, and even in that case, I’m failing at times.

      • No problem Alissa, I understand that work has been busy for you and I hope that it does calm down for you. We managed to go 2 and a half years without WDTCFs so I think everyone should be okay without them for a while lol. You and Safi are doing a great job as always with the site and releasing new posts every day and I can’t speak for everyone but we would still be happy if you decide to post less or want to take a break from the site to focus on work. I hope that EA doesn’t release the next update until the first week of August instead of after the current event has ended just to give you and everyone else a little break from updates.

    • Pretty sure submissions are still welcome for From the Mouths of Addicts if you fancied putting together a few thoughts and emailing it in.

      That goes for any Addict reading who has an idea on an article they’d like to see and can rattle together a submission they think would be worth sharing.

      Sorry to volunteer you Alissa, but I reckon she could fill in a few gaps or root out images if your idea needed them but it was otherwise complete.

      I’ll add, ideas for EA might be good, but rants wont !!
      These codes and other glitches for example, as frustrating as they are it’s not likely to end up as a post unless there’s something constructive in it that actually helps address the problem(s) without asking EA to go and re-write every last line of code or buy a whole bunch of servers 😊

      Lastly, if you’re wondering why I don’t – Aside from the tips on the article Alissa wrote about code problems, which started life as a comment like this, this is about the most I can string together while trying to remain mildly coherent 🤪

  2. I JUST got an email from EA telling me to change my PW. I tried logging into Simpsons without changing anything and it just spins.. I had to change my PW first. Then I got the age verification and the send the verification code email. What a PITA. Took a bit, but got in. I don’t understand what is going on with Origin accounts.

  3. Just downloaded a huge update last night, it took a while, like 20-25 minutes or something. But I waited and played a bit and sent everyone on jobs and now this morning it’s telling me to sign in again and to download again! This doesn’t seem normal…

  4. I just received the 11,000 item warning. My device may experience performance issues.
    Starting to store items that have no “performance” value.
    I think 15,000+ is the next WARNING!!! level

    • IIRC warnings start at 11,000 and then reminders pop up every 150 items after that until you hit the hard limit of 14,000.
      You’re safe for a while . . . 😊

      Limits were raised from 13,000 in THOH 2020.
      They’d been at 13,000 for about 18 months before that, so don’t expect another increase any time soon !!

        • Putting 6,636 cut price Burning Bushes in storage and replacing them with 1,500 mini nukes helped 😊

          Actually stored them too since, and about everything repeatable in my “Little town”, but group-stored in case I need a blast of farming.
          Burnt through thousands of sprinkles these last couple of events but I’ve over $2.6 billion for trucks . . .

          In my main town I just turned off the collider. I do struggle for room, but only until I get motivated to finish a monumental grind – about 10% of land and 40% of the item count is all just a bonus farm !!
          I did get round to hitting 666,666 sprinkles for THOH 2020, not long now once I start buying trucks again . . .

  5. Hey guys! I’ve just downloaded the game again after quite a while off and as usual I always start from the very beginning! I’ve noticed tasks and build times have been much quicker than I remember, like Willie raking leaves only takes 2 hours? Is this an update or is it just the initial tasks have been made much quicker?? 🙂

  9. i have had no end of trouble with EA service desk as well regarding the verification issue. my account was set up in 2013 only to play TSTO and has no personal info in it. i even faked my birthdate because i didn’t know who EA was and why i’d need an account to play an app. there’s no credit card info or address/phone number. I moved last year and lost my email address but forgot to update it before i lost it (i bought and sold a house during covid – very stressful). So now I can log into my EA account but can’t change emails (I need access to old email to do that) and going through EA service to change my email requires me to “verify” my account. I can’t remember what birthday I used and there’s nothing else in the account to confirm. So I’ve been guessing my info for three weeks now. Missed half the event. Still not verified. I suggested they just change my email and send a notice to my old email letting whomever they think owns the account know it’s been updated. I get emails when I change account details at other places like that so it seems reasonable. It seems EA has one way to do things and if that doesn’t work, they can’t problem solve around it. So I guess I just keep sending them info forever until they give up. I’ve spent a lot of money and am a daily player at max level so it’s really frustrating.

    Sorry for the long vent but I’m so frustrated.

    • I’ve seen one brief post, so I can’t explain any more than what follows –

      An iOS user got fed up and started the process of “Charge back” with Apple, and was able to use that to verify their account and get EA to update the email address.

      My guess, do a live chat exchange, and keep a copy of the transcripts, asking EA to sort your email because you can no longer play.

      Take that to your app store and ask them to refund all purchases for a game you can’t access, again keep copies of all correspondence.

      Take the whole lot to your bank and ask them to press for your money to be refunded as you’ve been denied the ability to use the items you’ve paid for – you’ll need to check your banks’ rules on this to figure the best way to go about it.

      Use all that to show EA . . .
      1: you’re seriously not happy
      2: it’s your account

      Worst case, you might end up getting back what you’ve paid but that’s a minefield of small print

(and lol only one birthday – but i’m willing to go through the verification process 365 times to figure out what i gave them). also, i have all my back and forth emails to help with the documented effort to retrieve my acct so that may help)

    I’m so sorry to read that EA still hasn’t solved the “rollback glitch” (shame on you EA! this problem has been going on for too long!) and that many Tappers are still having difficulties with “verification code” (there have been enough suggestions and solutions posted, I don’t agree with what EA did, but I can see that I have lost more Neighboureenos and I hate to see anyone quit the game because they can’t login anymore).

    On a brighter note, I hope all of you take the time to go on Vacation! 🍹

  13. I too now have an issue with the verification code not coming to my assigned account. Talked with EA support they said they are working on it. Why can’t they just give me a code on the phone or some other verification. Ugh! This is getting to be a point where my fun little game break is not fun at all.

    Any chance the other folks having an issue use a yahoo account?

    • Yes. It is so frustrating! I haven’t been able to play for over a month due to not receiving the verification codes. Today EA changed my e-mail and same thing happens. I am wondering if I will ever be able to play again.

  15. How can I update the moonshine shack now it’s being offered in Tavern Trouble?

  16. Can someone please tell me how I upgrade the moonshine shack?

    • If I’m not mistaken, it could only be upgraded in 2015 during the event. I don’t believe you can update it now that the event is over.

      • Thanks, i wasn’t around during that event but got the Fortress of Lonelitude awhile back and it was already upgraded when i bought it. I see they were in same og event.

  17. Hello! I’ve been playing for a loooooong time, and my Springfield is huge and the thing I love most about the game is the town building and decorating. I got a DISTURBING notification yesterday as I was tweaking decorations in my Krustyland. “Too Many Buildings: Congratulations – you’ve built the maximum number of buildings and decorations that the game can currently handle! However, you need to store or sell some things if you want to build more.” As Moe would say, what what what?? Seriously, WHAT??? Has anyone else gotten this message?? Is this “max number” permanent or is it something that increases occasionally? This is going to put a serious dent in my enjoyment of the game! Any information or advice anyone can give is appreciated! Thanks!!

      Next to “we need a Land Expansion” (since 219!), we definitely need an “increase in Item Limits” (lost count how many times I’ve had to edit my Springfield of Content just so that I can accept New Content!)

      I’m afraid we’ve lost some of the most artistic Tappers that have spent an enormous amount of time creating their Springfield (and the various areas) no thanks to Item Limits (this includes Ebron!)

      Choose carefully what you want to remove from your Game App / items you wish to sell in your Storage (or you can pay a visit to the official Facebook Page for TSTO and give EA an earful!)

    • Yea Julie…there is a building limit which I believe was recently increased. I’ve lost a lot of forest/trees trying to stay below that limit. I’m sure someone here knows the number…I don’t remember honestly. I’m constantly looking to sell/store unnecessary items, but it does affect the look of some designs.

    • Hey Julie, I believe the item limit is 14,000. That’s actually quite a lot and it was increased to this number from 11,000 three or four months ago. I’m sure after years of playing it’s quite frustrating. I have not reached this limit myself yet. Hopefully someone will post with correct advice. I think the trick is to store some of the perhaps more frivolent decorations, some trees maybe, railings, lamp posts etc. anything that doesn’t earn $$$ or %bonus.
      All games have their limitations I think.

      Very sad for Germany and parts of Europe dealing with excessive flooding 😥

      We have 🌧️, we just don’t need 🌩️ (Western United States has enough 🔥 problems, on top of that a prolonged drought).

      Doesn’t look hopeful for the Next Generation, unless they can clean up the mess left behind by prior Generations ….. at least this Mini Event is a pleasant distraction. 👍🏻

    • Sorry to hear your about your loss 😢. I had two GSD (Thor and Mr. Riggs) that passed away in 2018. I still miss them immensely and I think about them everyday. My thoughts are with you.

  20. I’ve had the Rollback Glitch for years, and part of that is my people finder in the upper left is unclickable. It would still show people with completed task or availabile quests correctly, but I couldn’t use it.
    Since this update, it has been acting even screwier. It is always there even when it shouldn’t be, sometimes it is blank, sometimes it shows the last person I sent on a task, and sometimes it shows parts of faces only.
    I’m hoping this means someone at EA has been working on fixing the Rollback Glitch! Fingers crossed.

    • Hi Tim,

      It’s been 4 years since the Rollback Glitch (2017?) and I haven’t seen much progress from EA beyond forcing a Tapper to have a lengthy dialogue via Customer Support (and feeling lucky if EA gives you a massive supply of 🍩’s as compensation for your loss).

      The only progress I have seen with EA is taking their Games off Origin Account and putting them on EA Play / EA Play Pro (TSTO is one of the last to use Origin). I dread every time EA creates a snafu, because I know that means we will lose more Tappers.

      I do hope you get a fix on that ‘glitch’ you described (at least send a tweet to @EAHelp tomorrow – because they have Sunday off – that something isn’t right).

Hello- wasn’t sure where else to post but wanted to mention this.. since last update last Wednesday, I noticed in my mobile game after everyone is out on tasks, some of the “task less” characters are left up in the circle on the top left of the screen. When I click the circle, it goes to K-9 officer and it is empty underneath.. this is a character without tasks. Anyone else have this in the game. My husband said he has in his game. I don’t have it in my ipad game. Very weird. The characters in the circles make funny faces sometimes.. almost like the programmers did this on purpose! LOL

    • I’ve got the same issue. K-9 Officer and King Snorky are appearing for me. However, the K-9 Officer had a two hour task in the third step of the mini event quest line. So maybe it’s a glitch from that.

  22. After countless weeks of being locked out from the verification code nonsense I’m hitting a point where I don’t know what else to do. Numerous contacts with EA’s terrible customer support by live chat, email and by telephone. I had an advisor from EA literally sit on the phone in dead silence and had no clue why the verification code won’t send to my primary email linked to my game. If you live chat with EA they tell me they know about the problem and tell me to have a good day and end the conversation. How is that fixing a problem with the game? Disney owns FOX along with The Simpsons. I wish Disney would step in and find a new company to run The Simpsons Tapped out game app to run properly.

      I am sorry for your frustrations and since it is Sunday Customer Support has the day off (same with @EAHelp on Twitter). EA is definitely aware of the Verification Code snafu , but Alissa is correct in encouraging Tappers to use a legit email (ie Gmail, or Outlook) and making sure your email is still in use (as well as make sure your Origin Account is up to date).

      I can be honest with you and say Team Disney has the worst Customer Service ever, and don’t expect much from FOX (Team Disney has gutted most of what they had in order to consolidate both Companies). EA rightly deserves the constructive criticism, pay a visit to the official Facebook Page for TSTO and see what Tappers are posting, but nobody knows how long they have the license on The Simpsons (just know that if it becomes a Team Disney Game App? it’s Game Over!)

      I hate to see you leave, I sincerely hope you are able to solve the verification code problem (fyi I got hit with it last week and was able to login in 30 seconds – I use a legit email and keep my Origin Account up to date).

    There MIGHT be a Robin Hood Event in the future.?
