Where Did THAT Come From – EFCOT Center

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the site is so delightful, and since this is the place you go… TSTO TSTO TSTO.

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

Woo hoo! It’s holiday time in TSTO and with the second Act of goodness arrived more goodness for all of us. Like usual, it’s time for me to dip into my noggin of Simpsons info and write about specific stuff. For this post I will be going over one of the new craftable items that came with Act II of the 2015 TSTO Holiday Event… EFCOT Center. Some of you know I work for a certain mouse but regardless of that… I’m actually a big fan of Disney. I’ve been blessed to have visited the theme parks in California, Florida, and Tokyo and enjoyed all of them. Of all the parks, one of my favorites was the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow with its iconic Spaceship Earth.

EPCOT Center

It might be that this is the most adult of the parks, has eleven amazing pavilions of different countries in its World Showcase (I successfully drank around the world once, basically having a beer in each including my beloved Norway), and includes a bunch of cool geeky tech stuff including a ride using NASA technology, but I really love EPCOT and to have a version in my game brings me immeasurable joy. Of course, some may wonder what the heck this has to do with the Best. Show. Ever.  Well… the Simpsons version in our games originated in “Special Edna” (S14:E7).

Our favorite family heads to EFCOT when Mrs. Krabappel is nominated for Teacher of the Year by Bart to help her feel appreciated. The Teacher of the Year Foundation picked her because “she’s danced with the devil in the blue shorts and lived.” The Simpsons got the trip to the awards ceremony in Orlando because Bart nominated her.

Homer is none too thrilled. He claims “it’s even boring to fly over it.” Spaceship Earth is called the Futuresphere and it parodies old-timey ideas of what it would be like to live in the future back in 1967. Honey, I Squirted Good on the Audience, Great Moment with Mr. Eisner, Enron’s Ride of Broken Dreams, the Home of Tomorrow, the World Showcase, and even Little Richard.

EFCOT Center Simpsons 2

I loved seeing this parody when this episode aired. “Mmmmm… that’s good satire.” The electric car sequence cracks me up the most. I won’t ruin it and just insist you watch it. What did you think of this crafting prize? Ever been to EPCOT? Despite this parody, it’s actually the 4th most popular theme park in America and 11th in the world. Sound off in the comments and stay classy this holiday season.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. I’ve been to Disney World (and Epcot) three times in my life, and I absolutely plan on going back again… as soon as at least *most* of my kids are old enough to enjoy it. (The youngest is only nine months… and I’m not sure if I’m patient enough to wait for him to be old enough… LOL!) The first time I went as an adult was a bit of an eye opener, though, as my “favorite” features of the park are starting to veer more towards the variety of restaurants at Epcot. (Always-always-always get the meal plan! It’s absolutely worth it!)

In an odd side-note… I don’t have cable and I haven’t always been able to catch The Simpsons when it airs, but you guys (and this website) have convinced me to go ahead set my DVR to record ALL of the syndicated episodes that air locally, to try and catch up… and it looks like I now have another episode to specifically keep an eye out for. Thanks, Addicts!

  2. But what does EFCOT stand for? Thanks for spelling out what EPCOT stands for (I never knew!). What is the F for or is it all different?

(I kept thinking it should be “ELF”COT for the holiday. 😉 )

  3. Happy New Year!
I have never seen this episode so now I have to. EPCOT is my favorite park so this building is great. My husband and I went to Food & Wine for the first time and it was great.
Tomorrow a friend and I are going to DL! I can’t wait, I will miss EPCOT but I’m excited for the unique attractions and overlays.

  4. EFCOT Center

One of my favorite Buildings to craft this year for Xmas 2015 (thank you EA)

I still <3 EPCOT @ WDW ( sorry the Norway pavilion is getting revamped )

I wish EA would fix this game app so that we can place EFCOT Center in Krustyland (a lot of craftables look perfect there)

  5. That accidentally “d” in “Honey, I Squirted Goo on the Audience” really changes the complexion of that attraction immensely.

  6. We are Disney Word passholders, so yes I’ve been to Epcot a few times. Spaceship Earth is one of my all time to favorite rides. It used to be my favorite park, but that’s a debate for Disney message boards… This year was our first time making it down for the Food and Wine festival though so that fun.

The Home of Tomorrow is actually from Disneyland, it was called the House of the Future.
I’m going have to go watch this episode now…

  7. That was a good episode. Love when Homer tells Little Richard to sing Purple Rain. After he tells him to shut up, he whispers to Marge “Michael Jackson told me to shut up.” Agree on the electric car sequence too…”One of us, One of us”. A must see.

  8. I last went there back in 97 I think. Very nice design but indeed I found the place boring after comparing with the other theme parks like universal studio. I have four days only in Orlando. Visited Disney world, universal studios and Epcot Centre. My friend is in charge of driving and insisted of going to a factory outlet instead. I was very sore about it as I have wanted to visit the Disney park with the Star Wars theme in it? I have never being back there yet so far as it is a very long journey for me.

  9. After reading that I’m glad I crafted Efcot Center! Cool story. Now to find a place to put it……..

  10. Are we going to be able to craft prizes in Act3??? I’m saving the mistletoes and ornaments just in case, but eyeing the igloo.

    • Build it. Crafting is supposed to end when act 2 does. So, early Saturday morning.

    • Apparently Act 2 is the last Act to include crafting, and Act 3 will be totally different. So craft everything you want now, and use up as much of your crafting currency as you can.

  11. My parents took us to Epcot when we were kids. That’s why I got it for the game. I did not remember the episode and will have to check it out. All I remember about the actual trip is three things. First hurricane warnings on the first day in Florida. Second the best cheesecake I have ever had in my life in some German resteraunt in Disney park somewhere. And last the giant collection origami papers and books I scored in a gift shop! I still have the book. 😀

    Happy New Years everyone!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🍻🙃🍻

  12. Recently I’ve been talking about the idea of “The Simpons Are Going To ———–!!!!” Event, in order to get items from their many travels around the world. now I realize I can place such items around Efcot, as well as a monorail around it… :/ I guess I’m going to need to keep working on the monorail in order to do that.

It may be a small world after all but there are still many places we haven’t seen come into the game yet. ..would be nice to place it in Krustyland.

    • Why is it as soon as I read the phrase the Simpsons are going to —-!!!!, my mind automatically filled in the blanks with H-E-Double Hockey sticks? lol Not knocking your idea by any means, just the first place my mind went lol.

  13. Guess they ran out of ideas for stuff from actual Springfield? First something from Britain, now Orlando, TSTO better be careful or we will be able to narrow down where Springfield actually is, just by knowing where it isn’t 😀

  14. I am also a huge Disney fan (except for Frozen). I’ve been wondering where the EFCOT Center came from… my memory is appalling since I became a mum! Thanks Wooks. Happy new year to you and yours.

  15. Can EFCOT be placed in Kustyland? Seems like the perfect place for it.

    • While I personally had the same question, I took life by the horns. I did the impossible! I stored Efcot, clicked on the bus, went to Krusty Land and tried to take it out of storage. Alas, I had my answer…

      No.

  16. Yep Epcot is definitely predominately for adults. My brother’s family and mine went there and drank our way through several countries, until the underage drinking members started protesting how boring it was….back to Disney World we had to go
