Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So…here is your Open Thread. No new Simpsons tonight…actually there won’t be another new episode until Valentine’s Day. BUT we are nearing the end of the Deep Space Homer mini event. Did you enjoy it? Are you enjoying it? How far have you gotten? What do you think will hit next?

How was your weekend? Do anything fun and exciting? Can you believe today’s the last day of January? Before you know it it’ll be spring!

So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of! Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!

Woo hoo! NEW STAR WARS! So… a while back a tapper on the site asked whether I was going to write a post about the new movie, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, and while I really wanted to do it… I didn’t want to post any spoilers about a movie I cared so much about. Well, I think since over a month has passed since the premiere of the movie, it’s finally time for the Wookiee to awaken and share some thoughts.

TSTO Anonymous: Fuzzy Thoughts About Burnout

With all the excitement of events this last few months… I’ve been remiss in holding our regular TSTO Anonymous gatherings. Arguably, the Addicts Open Threads acts as a meeting point for us to meet, commiserate, complain, joke, etc. but I enjoy the occasional chance to just ramble about the game with my favorite peeps. Lately, I’ve seen more and more grumpiness in the comment thread and I wonder if we’re folks are getting burnt out?

I know if you told me back in October 2013 that I’d be still playing this game years later I’d have probably checked your hand for a crazy stamp. But time flies when you’re having fun and here I am not only still playing but also writing about it. Loving The Simpsons helps me keep on keeping on but it truly is this wonderful community that makes it worth it and still fun. As a vague premise, we’re gonna call this meeting to order with the topic of Simpsons Burnout and see where it goes from there. The coffee is all ready and it’s time to gather.

Deep Space Homer and the Conform-O-Meter

Hey Howdy Hey Space Tappers!

It’s Blast Off time in Springfield, as the Deep Space Homer mini event has invaded our games for the last week plus. With several new items hitting our games, as well as a few returning back to Springfield. With all of the new items added to Tapped Out I thought now would be a good time to take a look at how all of these items impact the Conform-O-Meter ratings (especially since this might help you decide what to keep out & what to put into storage).

The Conform-O-Meter is an important part of Tapped-Out because it provides you with a bonus boost in your cash and XP from everything you collect in the game. When you achieve a 5-Star Town (it’s max rating) you will receive a 5% bonus on all money and XP collected in your town. If you missed the previous Conform-O-Meter posts check here for the basics and here for how many points you’ll need to reach 5 stars.

While the Deep Space event brought no changes to the Conform-O-Meter requirements, it did bring us a ton of new items to add to our Springfield. Let’s take a look at how all of the new “goodies” impact our rating: Continue reading →

TSTO Space: the semi-final frontier (provided EA keeps adding land). This is the voyage of your resident fuzzball. His one post mission: to explore a design idea, to seek out why he doesn’t have a life or civilization (as in the descriptive idea of being civilized), to boldly go where let’s be honest a lot of people probably have gone before.

Still chuckling at myself for that pathetic attempt to start a post about town design and wondering why this Deep Space Homer Event has me all nostalgic for the famous opening lines of Star Trek. I’m going to blame watching “Deep Space Homer” (S5:E15) and laughing at Barney and Homer during their astronaut training.

WABAC Where Did THAT Come From – 2015 Halloween Items

Hey howdy hey Addicts! In the steady grind of tapping in the free world, we sometimes see decorations and buildings and take them for granted. While this is understandable, we may not realize that a great majority of items in TSTO actually come from the amazing show the game is based on. With that in mind, Bunny and I aim to periodically provide you the origin info for decorations and buildings we missed, ignored or haven’t covered yet. Time is a fickle thing (timey wimey even) and as Einstein said, “The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.” There’s often not enough time in the TSTO continuum to do origins for everything, but while we have some, we’ve called on Mr. Peabody to help us along. We’re using his WABAC (pronounced way back) Machine to go back in TSTO time. With that premise, we bring you WABAC WDTCF (Where Did THAT Come From). This particular journey is for the Spooky Tent, Re-Neducation Center, and Apu’s Apocalypse Jeep.

The Deep Space Homer mini event hit our Springfield’s and with it arrived a whole bunch (ok a few) of Space Themed prizes for our Springfields!

This event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes. For each of the first 6 parts of Cheap Space Homer you’ll have to earn via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part. Three of the 6 prizes are Deep Space Homer and animated tasks for him. Prizes 2, 4 and 5 are all Deep Space Homer related…

It’s time to get our space on, as Deep Space Homer has hit our Springfields! Like all events, it’s not without it’s share of premium content and characters. Of course those premium characters wouldn’t be complete without a questline!

Astronaut Barney is a premium skin for Barney that you can pick up during the Deep Space Homer Event. He comes with a fun 4 part questline, that you may want to hold off on doing until the Event is over…since it’ll stick around for a while.
