It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread. The Simpsons are all new tonight, what do you think will happen in tonight’s episode? The Maggie Act of the Winter Event is in it’s second week, how are you doing? Which prizes have you unlocked so far? What do you think will be next?

I should finish up the quest line today to get the mini game- woo hoo! I really enjoyed that they made us take a trip to K-land and joked about it. and the dialog about arguing on the forums. just all so funny! The ROSA cut scene was great and I also was a huge fan of the drawings. I hope someone got snapshots of those and will include them on a post here to be preserved forever and ever so I can always visit them!
hopefully I’ll get Wall E Weasel’s today, I’ve got it’s spot ready and waiting!

Well, we just got a yard sale type thing a few weeks ago, so I’m not holding my breath for that, but I’m still hoping for the donut deal!

I have played the Maggie mini game where you try and find her… Does anybody have this same problem… When I find Meggie and tap on her nothing happens and I fail… Do I tap on her or the structure where she is hiding?
According to EA, tap the building, not Maggie. According to a few posters here, tap near the base of the building for the best chance of success.
Alright, so I have a second post for the open thread this week. It’s something that’s been bugging me for a little while now, so please forgive that I just need to get it “out there”. When I first started reading this site roughly 1-1.5 yrs ago, one of the things I most love was its positive nature. It’s mostly still like that, but something new has taken over lately. Whenever there is a real or perceived slight against our fearless bloggers, the stalwart regulars come out in spades, pitchforks in hand. I get that the intention is to defend Bunnie, Alissa, and Wookiee, and goodness knows they deserve it….BUT. The thing is, constantly drawing attention to the negative aspects of a small percentage of posts or posters, reinforces a perception that the frequency and severity of such things is much worse than I believe it really is. As such, the defending posts are actually bumming me out more than making me happy to be on the site. I can’t of course, speak for Bunnie, Alissa, and Wookiee. I’m sure that in general it’s nice to have people stick up for you, but the thing is, I’ve always found these three to be pretty darn good at sticking up for themselves. Maybe it’s time to let them do that for the most part, and only chime in on particularly offensive posts, leaving the borderline or potential misunderstandings alone. I would suggest that if you were going to reply to a specific post, do so directly as a reply to THAT post, not a general “and for those who would say…”, and then if you are just trying to cheer up our bloggers, perhaps leave the negative comments out and simply say the positive parts of your post about how much you appreciate them, etc. and let others follow by your example.
Thanks for reading, and I am truly sorry if that came out preachy. Also, please note that it is definitely a general comment based on a trend and not some veiled message aimed at any tappers in particular. Love you all, and genuinely enjoy being part of this amazing community!

I am in near complete agreement. (Just not fully the part about it bumming me out.)
I agree that the admins seem to be able to fend for themselves, but having it said in a different way (still positive) can be good. When I choose to chime in, I try to be on the side of giving a constructive comment (if I’m so successful), or to express a side that most people aren’t.
I was considering writing up a comment on a related topic. That people are complaining about people that complain. Now the truth is that I’m sorta fine with it, but just wanted to point out that it counts as negative engagement just as much as the original complaint does. So long as people realize what they’re doing, and that they may be contributing to a negative atmosphere, then there ya go.
I won’t pretend to be above it. Hopefully I confront the “transgressions” with at least a modicum of tact. Otherwise, as long as we all stay civil and don’t vilify people, that would be great. We can’t always succeed in great communication or in keeping our frustrations at bay, but it’s important to realize what’s happening, to make changes, and maybe even to apologize when it’s really required.
Awesome comment. And I should clarify that it’s not ‘totally’ bumming me out 😉 It’s just exactly what you said – it’s negative engagement. So when there are 7 posts related to one person’s negative one, suddenly that’s 8 negative posts. Having said that – calling someone out ikn a reply directly on their post – have at it!! The ones that are really getting to me is where someone says “and for all those who are saying…: etc, but even as much as I read the threads, I’m sitting there going: “Who said that? When was this?”. If I didn’t catch it the first time, it probably doesn’t need to be rehashed elsewhere. Anyway, I feel like I’m making this bigger than it needs to be. Just saying – I hope we can all work together in the spirit of the new year to – not restore, because it isn’t bad, but ‘shine up’ the tone of the comments on this blog. Cheers! I understand. That’s why I hadn’t written my comment originally because pointing it out is basically adding to the atmosphere of negativity (in a constructive way, but still) if people take umbrage. I read through the comments and just hope that I don’t see that kind of thing, and hope people stop. Hope doesn’t really change anything. I wonder if I had chimed in earlier if that could have staved it off by enough. But I’m glad that you did, just so that it’s out there, so that people have this other perspective to think about.
I agree (I think) that we’ll do well enough to leave the topic alone now (maybe to revisit at another, more pertinent time).

I stopped at Level 20…tap radius was big enough and had better uses for the kids.
I figured most people would have stopped already. I’ve continued upgrading mine – using the kids not needed for other tasks (like SH or the monorail).

Does your OCD tell you where to stop? I like having a nice even number, 20, just in case it is displayed afterwards, like is done with the campfire and Monsarno. I had an uneven number for the similar tap radius improver from Terwilliger event. Thankfully it’s not displayed.

I like living a sheltered life… I don’t know who else has died and I’m not sure I want to know.
Anyways, Bowie has been a great influence on our culture. I don’t think I could do justice with a list, but a few from my “world”. He wrote “man who sold the world” which was awesomely covered by Nirvana. He did a duet with nine inch nails, “I’m afraid of Americans”. More directly, I love “fame”. He was also involved in “under pressure” with Queen. Without them there wouldn’t be “ice ice baby”. The world is better for him. (See how I ended that? You have to love all of it.)
Did you know his real name was David Jones and he changed it because Davy Jones of the Monkees was popular at the time?

Having just watched the episode where the real Skinner shows up, am I the only one who’d love to have Sgt. Skinner in the game?
Quite possibly. That episode was an abomination, and the whole “Reset everything to zero” point had been made quite a few times before, only more masterfully and by better writers.
Yeah, the episode was crap, but the character would fit in pretty good with the fort. Plus, I wouldn’t mind a biker skin for Skinner.

Anyway, I think I’m close to finishing the quest line and after that we’ll be changing ROSAs batteries (sorry couldn’t help it) and rebuilding.
Argh… Maggie was at the school entrance last game, perfectly hidden behind a monorail track. I thought she was supposed to always be on the roofs of buildings?
Also, the article about the “Where is Maggie” game says that the timer starts at 1:20, but mine starts at 1:14… Does it depend on the size of the city or what?

This morning I found her on the fence of Cletus’ farm, not on the roof. I was a little confused because I could hear her and couldn’t figure out what other roof she could possibly be on out there in the boonies, but I did see her eventually and managed to tap the building before time ran out.
My guess is it pertains to how buildings you have. I get 1.14
Good theory. Maybe someone can test if storing all buildings but one gets you less time.

For the record, if anyone wonders why my town looks sparse, it’s because I take events seriously and I try not to block roads with buildings and such. It’s honestly as much for you as it is me.
Also, I’m still waiting for the Nude-E-Mart skin for the Kwik-E-Mart. I’d so love such a thing. Maybe with a Frostilicus skin for old Jasper….
I’m going to have to use donuts to complete this event… Can’t visit more than 2 neighbors before my game crashes… Sucks
You don’t need to visit neighbors to complete this event. You get at most like 64 or so pacifiers a day from neighbors. That’s less than you get from an hour of bears in your own town.
Anyone else get irritated by Arnie Pye and one of the aliens flying around your Springfield? I always accidentally tap on them and then get sent to their location. I’ve now gotten in the habit of just putting both of them on 24 hour jobs to get them out of the way 😜 I wish EA would change them so you won’t get sent to their location by tapping on them. I do love them flying around.
Annoying for your neighbors, too. When they’re on the screen I have trouble tapping bears unless I maneuver the screen around.

Yes!!! I used to send Fairy Kodos on her flying task a lot when I first got her and I was quickly sending everyone on 8 hour jobs and there’s no friggin way to end it because it’s attached to the Simpsons house. Now she’s ALWAYS spreading glitter round town with Smithers 😊👑🦄💫✨

So, the mini game doesn’t work. I tapped Maggie just fine the first tap. Then I found her on a roof top for the second tap and I could not tap her. I must have tried 100 times. Then it said I ran out of time but there was still time on the clock. Doesn’t anyone test this stuff?

Hey tappers! For all of you having trouble with the Where’s Maggie Mini Game, if you find her, DO NOT tap on Maggie, instead tap on the building that she is on. It really works! 😊
Just played my first round of the Maggie game. Her sucking sound led me to her…in the Lord Lad Donut! But like so many others here,, tapping wildly got me nowhere, until I remembered someone mentioning tapping the building below her. Sure enough, when I tapped near the base at Lard Lad, my tapping registered immediately. So for people having trouble, I recommend trying this. I only hope I remember it myself tomorrow for round 2!

WTF!?!?!? I thought there was supposed to be a new episode tonight! I turn on FOX and it’s the continued dumbing down of America. Good I $#&%× hate sports.
The full episode ran after the game (started late but it was all there, hope you saw it because it was a good one, the Opening Couch scene was (dare I say it) Epic.
Yeah I did see it.i was just afraid it was being preempted. I needed it, desperately. Not a good weekend here. Then when my sister finally talked me back to sanity, Bowie up and dies.
Great day today! I admit it was extremely hard to roll out of bed at 6 am. Even my kids were still asleep (normally, they would have been playing video games for an hour already…) We hit the road for hockey, and got a last second call that our team website was wrong and we had to go to a whole different arena….made that only 3 mins late on the ice. Went back to original arena for practice #2, collected the oldest child from Girl Guide camp, and then I spent a lazy, rainy (absolutely ridiculous – pouring rain in the middle of January – in Ottawa, Canada!!!). Anyhoo….spent a lazy, rainy afternoon with my cousin, eating pub food and doing my first Paint Nite. I am not at all artistically talented, so I’m pretty happy with my first attempt. Looking forward to tonight’s Simpsons and occasionally checking out the Golden Globes (really couldn’t care less, but Ricky Gervais is hilarious, so will probably flip for the highlights at least). Still loving the event, although getting tired of it a bit. Built Wall E Weasels today and laughed my butt off at the Krustyland dialogue. Homer is just finishing up there now. Want to finish SH, but it’s really testing my patience. Last week I redid my whole northern Christmas/ski area/North pole area and am pretty happy with how it turned out. Still a lot of haphazard stuff near the bottom of my town, but it will come together. One thing I can’t complain about is the prizes this event. They were absolutely awesome. Since I restrained myself pretty well over Halloween and Christmas, I will finally pull the trigger after the event and buy Barney. I still have Akira and Coach Krupt in storage from the Black Friday sales. Have been holding onto them to enjoy playing their questlines one by one during quiet periods. I also got Disco Stu but put him out right away to help with mats in SH.

Hey there fellow Ottawan…great day if you’re a duck. Better than 2 ft of snow I guess 🙂
I don’t know. I would rather be able to ski and skate, etc. than just deal with crappy rain. What a nutty winter! I took a pic of my kids on the front lawn in tank tops and shorts on Christmas Eve – looked like we were in Florida – and then 4 days later in full snowsuits, tuques, etc.
Yeah, but you don’t have to shovel rain. I’ll take rain over snow just about every time. (Can always go skating at a rink and I’m fine with snow on the mountains, just not down here where I live. 😉 )
Yeah, but seriously, when the temps hover near freezing, it’s a constant worry about freezing rain and glare ice. I’d take a blizzard over freezing rain any day. And with 3 kids, we live at the outdoor rink behind the house, the toboggan hill, and so on, or else I’d lose my mind in the winter.
Congrats on your impending Barney puchase…I feel like that’s one that always seems to be just over the horizon for most folks. 😉
And I totally do the same thing with premium purchases that I make during a sale…I’ve got Coach Krupt and Luann waiting for some good downtime to come out. 🙂
The worst part is if you have been playing a while, you’ve probably collected a whole heap of outfits for premium characters sitting in your inventory you can’t use!
Thanks Sandra – It’s so true. I’ve been in a position to buy Barney several times, but they always ended up putting out something limited I really wanted or another purchase kind of stepped in and took precedence. I must admit it has been really hard to wait on putting my new things out, but a) I don’t have great spots to put anything new yet, and (b) I knew I needed to focus on the event. I don’t really need the money and they didn’t help with SH, so away they stayed and it got easier with time. Still, I am looking to playing with my new things soon 😉
