Our old friend Gil is back in Springfield and this time he’s got a Wild West themed deal for us! (our you surprised?)
You should see Gil roaming around your Springfield…tapping on him will start everything right up for you. So let’s take a look at Ole’ Gil and his search for “El Serpiente”….
Tapping on Gil will trigger some dialogue between him and a Spanish bandit…
Spanish Bandit:You find the one they call “El Serpiente,” and bring him here to lead us, or else!
Gil: Or else what?
Spanish Bandit:Or else we’ll be leaderless! And un-led bandits are inefficient bandits. You don’t want that, do you?
Gil: Gosh, fellas, no! I’ll find your “El Serpiente!” By the way, is that a Spanish word? What’s it mean?
Spanish Bandit:No time for translations! All our hopes ride on you, ineffectual old man. No go!
Gil: If I were an El Serpiente, where would I be? Maybe I’ll ask those three boys over there. Hey fellas, whatcha doing with all those funny-shaped dice?
Datebase: We’re playing “Sheriffs and Shootouts,” a Western-themed role playing game.
Gil: Sounds dull! Say, you haven’t heard of a fella that goes by the name El Serpiente, have you?
Martin: Why, that moniker is one of the many aliases of the seventh-level outlaw character in the game.
Milhouse: It’s a Spanish name that translates as —
Gil: I’ve been assured there’s no time for translation! If you’re El Serpiente, that’s good enough for me! I’ve got a deal for you, son. Your very own bandit for, complete with a band of outlaws for you to lead.
Martin: Well, I’m always keen to meet up with my fellow role-playing enthusiasts!
And you’ll see the deal popup….
If you reject the deal….
Gil: No problem! If I don’t sell this fort, the bandits will probably just leave me buried up to my neck in the desert. I’ve been buried up to higher body parts in worse places! Or maybe they’ll just take everything I have. Which is practically nothing!
If you decide you want to take it…
Gil: Another satisfied customer!
Snake: You, dude, I hear you’re looking for The Snake. That’s me.
Gil: Sorry, but the bandits were quite specific, and they didn’t say anything about a “The Snake.”
The Bandit Fort will generate Bandits 2x faster. What this means is you’ll get the same number of bandits as your other hideouts (Flanders House, Simpson House, etc) but they’ll be ready every 2hrs instead of every 4…
And the Fort is 12×14 in size…
Oh and it come with a questline…

Pass. It’s way too expensive for just a building. Also not very happy to once again see some cool items in the store…But they cost donuts, and only improve things like vanity or tree-hugging. What happened with putting premium items in the store that have actual bonus multipliers? Donuts may be a teeny, tiny bit easier to get now, but it doesn’t justify asking for them to increase things like vanity etc.
Thought I had escaped all of the glitches. Had 15 minutes left to get my 5 bandits from Krusty Burger, but silly me I went to KrustyLand. As someone stated in an earlier post, my time got reset to 4hrs.
Oh sure, they can give us a Gil deal but can’t modify something purchased earlier to reflect the 2% bonus exp and money as it was advertised? Film Set still doesn’t give any bonus! Get on it EA its been about 4 days now.
If it gives cash (in this case bandits which will most likely change to cash when the event ends) it typically won’t give a bonus. The film set doesn’t indicate a bonus %
It did when I purchased it, the ad said 2% exp and money, mentioned it to the EA Rep and he agreed.
I didn’t see anything come up that said bonus with it…(sometimes EA reps just agree because the script says too. They don’t actually know what’s going on. So they agree and send it to the studio. The studio comes back and says no, they don’t alert you. And you just think it’ll get fixed at some point, or blame the studio. When in fact it was the rep who gave you the wrong info. But they end up looking like the good guy…first rule of front line customer service. Agree with the customer to get them off the phone or out of line, and say you’re “looking into it” even if you aren’t. By agreeing with them it makes them feel like they’ve accomplished their goal of arguing. Make sense?)
All this time I seriously thought it did, commented on it a few times and no one corrected me, to further make me think I was right lol Sorry if I seemed arguementative. The rep on the phone not only said I was right, but got another department to return my donuts and let me keep the item, which also fuelled my thoughts of being right since they were admitting mistake lol

I did see a percentage bonus mentioned when I purchased it. I did not check if it did add to my total. I have not kept it to check.
Ok so I’m not crazy, I thought I saw one too, but Alissa showed a screenshot that says otherwise, maybe they changed it since day 1 and the % was a mistake?
Very likely the reason then. I got the item quite early. So they probably change it later. The next time that cowboy is free, I am going to keep the set and see if the percentage is affected.
I checked the item and I did not get any % either.
Seems like bandits are spawning pretty b quickly, I shot through most of act 1 faster than pace. No need to waste donuts on this.
200 donuts for something only generates event currency?

Now I had to delete Shazam from my phone, honestly as much as I’m loving this event the constant demand for more data is really starting to suck the fun out of it. It’s cool I guess but meh. Didn’t realize it generated bandits but I’ll have the quest complete by day’s end so… but it looks cool
How big is this update? I don’t have wifi for a few days. I keep getting a duplicate comment error trying to post this. Hope this works.

Hi, gil appeared for me with this offer and I went to buy it but didn’t have the donuts. I clicked to buy more and the sale went through but afterwards gil had vanished. Will he appear again? Any ideas?
Check your store…you should see an icon for him. If not Try uninstalling and reinstalling TSTO. If he’s still gone contact EA.
Same happened here. Didn’t buy initially, then he was gone. Had a spot cleared out for the hideout too…

I saw it in the store, but I exited. When I went back it was completely gone.

Yeah, especially with no bonut rounds for this event. If they offered bonuts, you could at least justify a ‘lower cost’ with the extra bandits, but they will be all but worthless to me by tomorrow.
Cool looking building even though it doesn’t fit in my Springfield at all. Still have no idea where to put all the western stuff from this event…may just go into storage.

I love it actually – but I just bought some donuts (only the tray of 300) a few weeks ago and prices have really risen in Canada. It’s quite hard to justify (and it all goes through my husband’s iTunes account – which even though I make my own money and spend it accordingly in every other aspect of my real life – even if I buy and load a gift card to the iTunes so I’m paying, he still knows I did it and it does look kind of bad to spend so much on a silly li’l game…..) So, long story short, I’m down to 187 donuts. I really want the Wilted rose and the Quicksand, but because I’m so low on sprinklies, I cracked and visited a site that posts spoilers and there’s another item (I won’t say what) for 180 donuts that I will REALLY want. I’m extra tempted by this Gil deal because I do love the look AND I think it might be the first time a Gil deal is actually useful for an event…..but nonetheless, I think it will have to be a pass. And it is really expensive for what it is. 🙁

Too expensive. And in further updates who will come, of the Wild West update. I’ll think I save the donuts for part 2 and 3.
If this was an event I was excited about, maybe, but I’m trying to avoid spending any this time around, also, so far everything seems easy enough to get with regular play, so it’s not like I’m desperate to earn resources faster,

I just told my husband this morning that if the coyote with the pyramid came up, I was fully intent on buying it. Saw the Gil deal and was crossing my fingers. This building is ok, but I’m not willing to blow 200 sprinklies on just a building.

Yeah, it was pretty weak not to mention how annoying it was that they put a task to get all the pieces for it up several days before you could possibly complete it.
With all the glitches, they should almost give it away!
I passed (because I wanted to catch the prospectors that were running around) and can’t find his Deal anywhere. Glad you posted it here, 200 donuts for a building (Pass). I’m sure I’m not the only one who had this just vanish.

I’ve had a huge donut morning thus far. Not only did I unlock Wes Doobner’s Rib Hut this morning and finished the Act 1 Finale video by unlocking the event daily prize; but:
– I got 3 donuts for finding Maggie for the 3rd time,
– I X’ed the initial Daily Quest that was for useless at this point clues and got a one hour 3 donut quest,
– I completed that which was my 15th straight day of quest completions for another 10 donuts,
– I got 5 donuts this morning in Krustyland from Sideshow You
– and I’m over 40,000 blueprints in to the weekly Monorail grind and should have another 5 donuts by this evening
But despite these 21 (shortly 26) donuts, still going to be a pass on this not-a-premium-character item.
I actually laughed at this one. 200 and no character? Extra bandits when bandits are abundant? Huge pass!
