Should I Spend Donuts On the First Bank of Springfield?

NOTE: This is a first for the fuzzball doing a SIB so be gentle. I used an Alissa template so hopefully that means it will be amazing.

Because all Superheroes need a sequel…Superheroes 2 has found its way into our pocket sized Springfields!  This super event hit our devices…and with it arrived a whole new Event to make us scratch our heads, and drive us slightly insane. So it’s time to break out those donuts for their super hideouts because there’s a whole store full of superhero inspired premium items!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the First Bank of Springfield to your town?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this BS building to your town.

firstbankofspringfield_menu

Building/Decoration: First Bank of Springfield
Donut Price: 60 Donuts
Earns: $150 and 13 XP every 8 hrs
Size: 5×8
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism +20

Leaves stores on July 5th

Pros:
-It’s the First Bank of Springfield…makes a money jingling sound when tapped
-Comes with a short questline, 1 part
-Marge earns a 8 hr task joint task with Homer to “Force Homer to Manage Finances”
-More revenue for your town

Cons:
-It costs precious donuts so only splurge if this floats your proverbial boat/bank account
-We already had a bank from Superheroes #1.
-While it comes with a questline, it’s only one part

Final Thoughts:
Premium:
I like this one.  It’s a building that has been requested for quite a while.  Frankly, I wonder why it took so long for this one to arrive in the game.  I would say this is a good premium item to pick up at a fair price. As a premium player, this was a no brainer since it’s priced low and adds more revenue for my town and tasks for characters.

Freemium:
I’m on the fence from the freemium perspective.  I think it’s a fun building with a lot of Simpsons history (already working on the origin post) but it may not be for everyone. The price is low enough so if you like it and think it would make a fun addition to your Springfield, pick it up.  Otherwise it might be a good idea to save your donuts for something else.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do and I can tell you I already got this one right away. Whatever you decide, just remember this item is limited time and will be leaving our games (the store) on Tuesday July 5th.  Make sure you make your final decision before it’s gone for Jebus knows how long.

Here’s a look at the questline that comes with it…

Withdrawing a Blank
Marge starts

Marge: Hey look Homer! Our bank is finally back!
Homer: Bank… Ba… aank… Baank, oh yeah! Those are the money places, right?
Marge: Homer, I know you only cash your pay checks at Moe’s but you can’t forget what a bank is! C’mon, we’re going to do a budget.

Make Marge Force Homer to Manage Finances – 8 hrs (joint task w/ Homer)

What are your thoughts on the First Bank of Springfield?  Have you picked it up? Where have you placed it in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Actually, if you got the bank during the Old West event, I think you have Homer’s 6 hour task. At least, that’s when it unlocked for me.

  2. Too boring (the building, not the post…good job, Wookiee!). I would have happily found a home for it had it been freemium, but think I’ll save my sprinklies for something that makes me go, “Ooooh!” 🙂

  3. It’s only Homer’s 6hr task that’s tempting me. Holiday Homer’s premium 8hr task might make me give this one a miss.
Does anyone know why that 8hr task is premium btw?

    • Yeah, I only just discovered that myself (I hate Holiday Homer, so never used him.) Maybe just a fluke?

      • Where does he go for that task? I’d check myself, but I already have him on a 12 hour task. Does it use a premium building?

BTW, thanks for mentioning that. I hadn’t noticed that task pays premium rates.

        • He went to the house for me, so now he’s going to be on that 8 hour task most of the day, which is awesome.

I’m guessing he goes to a premium building if you have the building, and the developers didn’t code a different payout for players who don’t have the building.

  4. I’m passing on this one, but wanted to comment to say great job Wookiee! You and Bunny are doing amazingly at holding down the fort. Keep it up!

  5. 60 donuts is too rich for this freemium player. I don’t see any value to getting it in any case. I can build other buildings for in game cash to increase in game cash flow.

  6. well done!

  7. Russian Tigger

Your tempting me Wookie….. This makes me think I’d quite like a donut bank in my game, little place can check my donut balance, cash in some in game and real cash for donuts. Little donut dispenser… Sorry I’ve gone off on one….

  8. Now for the mandatory question: do Homer’s/Marge’s tasks there pay at a premium rate?

    • How to answer this. If I lie and say I know and that it’s premium will it change you opinion? They have a task there and I can’t check the payout since Homer isn’t free.

  9. I was about to get this but……..nighthawk diner is irresistible. You can’t pass 90 donuts for a building/ character combo.

    • Plus the Nighthawk is much cooler looking! 🙂

I like having Rex around, even if he does make it a little harder when I’m in a diet. 😉

  10. Has anyone been locked out of their game? Went to neighbour for a fight and cannot get back into my game. Aaaaaaaaaargh! Painful! Please give me the link to contact EA!

    Good work Wookiee!

I think I’ll give this one a pass as well. It is a completely iconic building for Simpsons fans, I’ll agree, but design-wise there’s just not enough to it to make me want to spend my hard-earned sprinkles on it, especially for a building without a character. We’ve already got so many nondescript buildings in our town like this one, plus, as you mention, I have that amazing-looking bank from the first superheroes event.

  12. Thanks for the info, excellent as usual! OK, I am DYING with laughter with the ‘remake’ of the sneaky criminals… I so enjoyed the criminals sneaking up by tip toeing around town, now I am cracking up watching these same criminals do the ‘side two step’ dance around the town? LOL! Anyone else enjoy watching these criminals do the ‘two step’ dance? Was this to ‘keep us on our toes’ so we have to ‘look harder’ for them? Who at EA thinks of these things? OMG I die laughing every time I tap!!!!! 🙂

    • I think the animation is cute, too! The reason they’re walking that way is that’s the way crabs walk (sideways)…it’s all related to the event story. 🙂

    • 4kidsandacatdog

They are funny, and I had a good laugh too, but I’ve noticed that they aren’t congregating on my screen the way they did before. This makes them a lot harder to find.

  13. Good job Wookiee! Most SIBs I have to ask afterwards what sound the building makes when tapped (believe it or not that is a peice of info that sways me to buy)

Yet, I still think I’m going to pass, the building and price are both B.S. to me :p

    • Have to agree. One con that could have been added was, its a building, doesn’t come with a character, not a combo.

      • i don’t agree with that being a con, especially at 60 donuts….

        • Not disagreeing that it isn’t a good price for the building, just some of us (mostly premium players) have so many buildings in our town as it is, we get more than enough income, and even at a higher price a character/building combo is a more reasonable way to spend donuts.

          • i don’t disagree with anything you said, just don’t feel that translates to a con for this item. 🙂 buildings are an integral part of towns after all, can’t have too many unique ones if you ask me!

i know you’ve been a longtime addict, but i don’t think we’re neighbors. feel free to shoot me a friend request if you want!

  14. Normally I would pass on this type of offer but I bought this straight away purely because i like it and it’s one of the shows more iconic buildings.

  15. Thank you so much Wookie! Great job 🙂 It’s nice to have a change of job! It was a great rundown and it provided me with all the facts I needed to decide! Thank you so much

  16. I’ve been considering buying this, but then the fourth of July event started and I really want either Nixon and the hotel or Rex and the nighthawk diner. Decisions decisions.

  17. Great job on another SIB Alissa!
    What? Wookiee? Really?
Great job Wookster. Alissa couldn’t have made it more amazing. Equally amazing, probably. But more amazing, nope.

As with all premium items without a character I want or an XP bonus less than 20:1, this is also a pass for me. I also passed on all the 4th of July items, old and new. Too many regular characters I still haven’t bought. Tempted to spend my donuts on Moleman or Arnie Pie lately.

    • Thanks! This may be one of the only SIB I ever do so it’s sort of historical.

      • Really? Because the first thought that went through my mind when I saw the authorship of this one was, “Great! A fresh perspective!” I mean don’t get me wrong; I love Alissa’s work, and greatly respect all of the time she invests into the website… I just can’t help but wonder if our other two resident “show hosts” might not always share her opinions on the SIBs.

Have you guys ever considered templating the bulk of the post, (much as Alissa does now) and then each of you adding a one-liner to the Final Thoughts section? I think it could be very cool… kind of your version of the classic “Siskel and Ebert” style of reviews.

        • It’s something I’ll float by Alissa when she gets back. Might be interesting. Problem is one of the perks of writing on a TSTO blog means I can be a completist and get everything and as an uber Simpsons fan, I want it all. Also, we do get everything so that we can have an opinion on it. The lady Addicts might have different ideas.

      • Wait… what…. may be your only one? We should have a celebration with fireworks and bands and flags and lots of cool stuff. We’ll hold it on July 4th, not much is happening that day right??!!

      • Better historical than hysterical Wookie?

    • I advise Moleman. Arnie is annoying in basically every way.

  18. I think yr more like me than Alissa. My thought process, it’s Simpsons, gotta have it!

  19. Josephine Kick@$$

Good job Wookiee! I’d like to have it, you’ve almost talked me into it, but I so want Teddy, so the bank might be a pass for me 😕🙃🙂
