Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Taking a break from the Around the World Event to bring you some news from the World of Matt Groening. In this case news from two of his most iconic shows…The Simpsons and Futurama…
First up, let’s start with some Simpsons news…
This past Monday (February 20th), was the 25th anniversary of the debut of “Homer at Bat” (S3 E17)….the epic episode where Homer makes the “Wonder Bat”, featuring baseball legends: Ozzie Smith, Wade Boggs, Darryl Strawberry, Don Mattingly, Steve Sax, Mike Scioscia, Roger Clemens, Jose Canseco & Ken Griffey Jr. Seriously who can forget Ozzie Smith forever falling into Springfield’s Mystery Spot (snapping pictures all along the way) or Ken Griffey Jr hopped up on nerve tonic? (Gigantism anyone?)
Such a classic episode…
Anyone that has followed this blog knows two things for sure about me. I LOVE baseball. And “Homer at Bat” is my absolute favorite episode of The Simpsons ever.
Well, this May the Simpsons and baseball are coming together once again…as Homer J Simpson will be “inducted” into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York, as the Hall honors “Homer at Bat”!
Saturday, May 27th (from 9:30-11 am) the Hall of Fame will feature a Roundtable discussion with baseball legends (and Hall of Famers) Ozzie Smith and Wade Boggs…AND Al Jean, Mike Reiss and others who worked on the classic episode. How crazy awesome is that?!
The Baseball Hall of Fame is only about 3 and a half hrs from here and it’s an important place for my husband and I, it’s where we got engaged. So I’m hoping we’ll be able to make the trip up to attend the Round Table! Of course if we do I’ll be sharing photos/details with you guys.

Next up…some very exciting news from the world of Futurama!
Finally, a Futurama “city builder” mobile game is coming!
Just announced yesterday, TinyCo (yes, the makers of the Family Guy mobile game) have teamed up with FOX and Matt Groening, to create a mobile game (in the style of TSTO and Family Guy) all about Futurama!
Straight from the mouth of TinyCo, the Worlds of Tomorrow game will feature writing from the show’s original writers and TinyCo has been working with the original animators on Futurama (Rough Draft Studios). AND both Matt Groening and David X .Cohen have been busy creating content for the new game!
This should be epic!
Both Groening and Cohen have weighed in on the new game:
“I love this game because it feels just like Futurama,” said Matt Groening, creator and Executive Producer of Futurama and The Simpsons. “Except now you get to jab the characters in the face.”
“Futurama is back, bigger and better than ever! Or possibly smaller and equally good. But either way, it’s back!” said David X. Cohen, co-developer with Matt Groening and Executive Producer of Futurama. “We’ve got completely new stories from the original writers, cast, and animators. This is the real Futurama deal.”
Rumor has it, they’re looking to release the game this summer….but no official date has been set yet.
For more info check out: www.youwillplayfuturama.com or the Facebook/Twitter page for Worlds of Tomorrow @playfuturama
And you can sign up via the Play Store (on Android) to get the game as soon as it’s available. Just search Futurama Worlds of Tomorrow in the Play Store…
What are your thoughts on Homer making it to the Baseball Hall of Fame? Do you remember the “Homer at Bat” episode? Are you excited for the Futurama game? Thoughts on what you hope to see with it? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

Bummed about the Futurama game. I love Futurama, but really don’t like the way Tinyco does things. I ended up deleting Family Guy after sinking a fair amount of mney into it. Unless you can log in every hour on the hour, are willing to spend big AND are very lucky it was impossible to progress thru events. Would much rather EA did it instead.
The hall of fame sounds cool. Funny that episode still resonates so much years later.
I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE FUTURAMA GAME! I love Futurama more than The Simpsons and have been wishing for a game like this since I first started playing The Simpsons! Ahhhhhh! I can’t wait!!!
I’m disappointed. If another company is creating the Futurama game, that means that there won’t be any crossover characters, and I was really really really hoping to get Bender in Springfield.
fwotaddicts.com ???
lol we’ll see what happens…it’s a few months away from launch. Not sure what’ll be going on.
Yea! Looking forward to the new Futurama game. I actually like Futurama game of drones and it’s nice because you don’t have to be online to play. On that note hope someday tsto has an offline mode.
It’s all over. Need to quit job and file a divorce. No time for anything but TSTO and FWOT.
Alongside TSTO, a friend of mine went and got me hooked on Paper.io… so I’m quite certain that my wife would absolutely *kill* me, if I picked up yet another time sink game! LOL
Good News, Everyone! (Got some Futurama in me!) I am excited for this game. Maybe there will be a tiny teaser for it in Tapped Out? But still, Summer?! I don’t want to wait!!!!
I enjoy both TSTO and FGTQFS.
Tapped Out is more of a designers game. The events are there to provide incentive to build and decorate. It’s a pretty easy worry free game with the main focus of building your Springfield.
FG is far less about decorating and far more about gameplay and item acquisition. It’s challenging and cruel but feels more rewarding when you do achieve success.
yeah that really sucks that TinyCo is making the game and not EA or some other more competent company. Why would they get hired to make a new game when they can’t fix the serious issues with Quest for Stuff. It is a completely flawed game that constantly releases new content, but has never released a fraction of the land needed to put the stuff in…
They just refuse to listen to their customers feedback and give us the changes that are needed to make the game fun… not to mention events that are always impossible to keep up with and misleading mystery boxes that leave people feeling ripped off and swindled.
I’ll be tempted to play the game, but tempted to avoid it also. If I knew then what I know now, I don’t think I would have ever touched AQFS.
Let’s see what happens. It’s still at least 4 months away
The game is technically by JamCity so I have higher hopes then before but it’s going to have to take A LOT for me to spend actual money because I just haven’t got the cash for two games 😁.
Love Futurama so will try it whatever ❤
Just read your reply about JamCity buying TinyCo. Sorry 😁
I’m feeling the same way as most of us do about hearing about the Futurama game. Absolutely excited, then absolute disappointment in finding out Tinyco is the one making the game. I love Futurama! I constantly binge watch between that and the Simpsons.
As for the “Homer at Bat” episode being added to the Baseball Hall of Fame! Mixed feelings too. Not big into baseball, but love the Simpsons! That’s pretty cool! I might have to travel the 2 hours to go see that!
I really hope the Futurama game doesn’t end up like Family Guy. I gave that one a try but found it was definitely a cash grab. Felt like everything required real-world cash. TSTO has been a bit like that at times, but there are plenty of ways to get donuts (and without hacking).
I’ll totally admit that I went the H route with Family Guy, just so I could get some enjoyment out of it. May have gone a little too far with adding old stuff that you couldn’t get anymore, so I got caught and had my game rolled back. It was my fault, no doubt. But by that point, I felt like it was the only way to enjoy the game.
That said, never did this with TSTO. Like I mentioned above, there are ways to get donuts that are totally legit. And the game is actually fun without dropping loads of cash.
ANYWAY…here’s hoping TinyCo doesn’t botch Futurama 🙂
I’ve said in some previous comments, Jam City (makers of cookie jam) now owns TinyCo. (it’s a recent purchase) So I do think they’ll have control over the $ aspect of it…and i’m hoping Help desk support.
You got joy from a game by hacking it?
KEM farming, buying/selling Bloodmobiles or Rat Trap Delivery Trucks with a running XP Collider gives you scores or hundreds of donuts, depeding on your game cash and bonus percentage.
Quite legitimate.
No, the OP was talking about hacking his Family Guy game…nothing to do with donuts and TSTO.
Let me explain my comment: I started playing the game, and from what I saw, I was never going to get ahead without putting down a lot of money. I’m willing to pay here and there for things; I do it with TATO. But Family Guy seemed like even the most minor advancement required spending cash, whereas I can get through an event in TSTO without doing the same.
So…it wasn’t the greatest decision, nor am I condoning it…but I did go the hacking route and started enjoying the game a little more. To the point where I felt like i was at a good point and could start maybe plunking down some dollars. But I did get a little too greedy and got a few characters that maybe alerted the admins of the game (or whatever constitutes the employees who monitor activity), so I was reprimanded. And I don’t disagree with what they did. It just got me back to “man, this game is not all that fun and more of a chore that wants my money.”
Again…not condoning hacking. My point for mentioning it was that I didn’t find the game enjoyable until I gave myself an (unfair) advantage. Anything that might require that I go that route is something I probably should have just quit before I cheated.
Super excited about the Futurama game! I always enjoyed it a little bit better then the simpsons so hopefully It’ll finally get a good game.
Like the homer the bat, but as a UK player the names of the baseball guys didn’t mean anything to me, didn’t stop it being good thou. As for Futurama game. Like the other comments hope it’s not like FG, that was awful deleted it very quickly
I want a new futurama cross-over!
I Can’t wait for the Futurama game!! Hopefully it’s as good TSTO and stays true to what made Futurama such a great show. It sounds like it will with so many people from the shows production involved.
Secondly, while I can’t say it is my favorite episode ever (not even sure I have an all time fav, too many great episodes to choose from) Homer at Bat is definitely a classic and one of the more memorable episodes. I just don’t understand why Mattingly never shaved those blasted sideburns!
Oh No this is a classic good news, bad news scenario. And No they have not learned their lesson as anyone who plays Marvels Avengers Accadamy can testify to, as I deleted Family Guy. I am still persavering with this Accadamy game as a masive Marvel fan (that’s why still playing) but close to deleting it, they still have tasks that need pay to play and unreasonable time frames for long winded tasks. Unlike EA who appear to listen to their players and make tasks achievable in a decent time frame, with premium stuff as extra stuff not needed to complete events. Oh well time will tell, will give it a try as also love Futurama. And long live Tapped Out even after the Christmas 2016 event, still the best of it’s kind.
TinyCo ? Bad new so . The game will be a P2P (pay if you want to finish the event) like Family Guy. I wish i’m wrong , really.
Yet another pay to play game all set up to drain us of our money , will not even give it a try , many will I suppose but to be honest , with tapped out an coco on the go I don’t have much time left to play another game
As long as Futurama isn’t as buggy and crash prone as Family Guy, I’ll give it a shot
I heard the story on the news about the Hall of Fame induction, how totally cool 😁😁😁
I dont know what it is, but I have tried Avengers Academy, Family Guy Quest For Stuff and Disney Magic Kingdom, and none of them hold a candle to TSTO. I can’t even stand to open the character task menu on those other games because they look and feel so tedious.
I’m almost disappointed because I was hoping to see Futurama characters brought to Tapped Out in some way, didn’t think that a city-builder could work with Futurama. But if it’s as good and true to the show as they say, then I’m pumped! Just hope that it’s a step up from Family Guy: Quest of Stuff. I’ve reached that point where it’s like, yeah, I’m not going to be able to progress without spending an enormous amount of cash. Really don’t want them to do that with Futurama, as much as I love the show to death.
…and i have an enchanted jock strap….
I will try it, but the game will eventually end up like Family Guy, in my trash bin.
TinyCo -_- Well, I ain’t playing it since they’re making it. They are much more stricter when it come’s to those in the H world, not talking about hell. Either it be those who use, I’m not one of them. Or those who had grown tired of seeing thing’s come and go and sought help, I am one of them, from a Trusted H.
I’m being vague on purpose. Either you know what I’m talking about or you don’t.
I will say this….recently, TinyCo was purchased by Jam City (makers of Cookie Jam), and it looks like Jam City will be playing a big role in this as well. I’m hoping that means when it comes to technical help and assistance as well. I’m really hoping it allows them to expand their Help Desk.
As far as the other H word…not a fan of how they treated those who got caught in the filter. But I can’t say I object to them cracking down on those who do it.
Ohhhhhhhh. I did not know that about TinyCo.
In Tapped Out I don’t do it, it can mess up my device and I can’t afford another, I just seek help. ^^
Hell I tapped anonymously for almost a year before I came across the H word on Facebook. And by then I was frustrated as hell about missing so much. I created an Origin Account, now EA account, just to get helped and am still getting helped to this day.
Before that I’d put $4.99 or $9.99 into the game about once a month for donut’s. Was not enough.
I tapped anonymously from late November 2013 to mid October 2014.
Seems as though I have no idea what this h word reference means…
Oh… never mind. At least I think!
Then it’s not for you to know.
I hope we’ll get Bender’s own theme park. You know with black jack and…
Man I love this robot!
Homer at the Bat is one of my favorite episodes as well, but that might be because I might be a bigger baseball fan than Alissa. I memorized my favorite players stats when I was 3.
As for Futurama, I am so excited. I just need the meme of Fry with the fistful of money.
Sounds fun! I just hope it’s not designed exactly like family guy. I don’t mean to bash it as I did enjoy it but it’s definitely geared to spend money on it. I finally deleted it because I couldn’t get anywhere with it really. I do look forward to futurama though, let’s hope they do a good job!
I’m hoping they’ll have learned some lessons from FG….
I hope so too, I also deleted Family Guy.
Most likely not. -_- Still hearing that people have having their games reset. Wanted to play FG and get help from a Trusted H but TinyCo is toooooooooooooooooo strict.
I am SO not happy with TinyCo! My FG game was reset and somehow overwritten so all of the money and time I spent is lost. I vowed to never deal with them again but I really really love Futurama. (Reading Alissa’s announcement, I went from extreme happiness to abject horror in 0.3 sec). I’ll wait to see if they have the same setup for collecting stuff to get more stuff before I commit. That is the main aspect of FG I really don’t like.
^^
Same here – I played the Family Guy one for quite a while, but ultimately found it tedious (especially with the process of getting new characters). Hopefully it will more closely resemble TSTO!
