Hey Guys!
First of all, for those that don’t know and are interested…Futurama Worlds of Tomorrow launches (tomorrow) Thursday June 29th…
Now, just a quick note…as I know many of you are asking if there will be an Addicts site for FWOT. I can tell you as of this moment there will not be one.
I’ve been able to play the game a bit. I’m not a fan. It’s a regurgitation of the Family Guy Game (TQFS), with different graphics. Sure there are a few cool elements to it (I really like the Space Missions and fight element)…but it contains everything I hate about TQFS, and subsequently why I stopped playing it (TQFS).
I had high hopes for this game and was really excited about it when it was announced. But after watching some YouTube videos of game play and getting the chance to play myself, that excitement bubble was busted.
So while I would love to launch another site dedicated to helping the awesome Addicts community..I cannot write about a game I don’t enjoy playing. It just becomes a chore for me, and that’s not worth it.
That being said, if there are any Tappers out there who would love to write about FWOT and just want somewhere to cover it let me know. If there are enough of you I’m happy to provide the space for you to write, and setup some guidance.
If interested you can email me at Alissa@TSTOaddicts.com
Thanks!
-Alissa

I loved Futurama too so I was pretty excited about that game. I expexted a TSTO-like gameplay but when I realized it was like Family Guy i just played the first few missions until it started getting real (and asking for real money) and deleted it. Don’t get me wrong – you can spend your money on TSTO too, but you don’t have to. If I wanted to make ANY progress in Family Guy, I would have had to buy stuff. Lots of stuff. So: deleted Futurama right away.
5mins crash. Back to the beginning. Tinyco. Gone!
honestly one thing i do like about futurama game is they do outfits so much better then tsto its off to the side and doesn’t get in the way like they do in tsto
“The Future of…” is a great series of Addicts posts! Seriously, it will definitely offend, but I would enjoy knowing (wiki-style) the truths behind the history of the site and how the hard decisions are reached. I still use the addicts app all the time, but one time I found out (buried in the comments) that the app has been distanced from the addicts somewhere/somehow/somewhy. “The Future of the Addicts App” could explain a lot, even if it dredged up some previously unspoken drama. Other ideas:
“The Future of Bunny”
“The Future of Family Guy Addicts”
“The Future of When/Why Players Stopped Playing Family Guy”
Lol not a bad thought
So disappointed. I can’t stand playing FG. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten through the first leg of an event. I was so excited about Futurama because I assumed it would be like Simpsons, you know, same creator and all. I won’t be playing it.
Have not scrapped WOT yet, as so far enjoying the space travel element.
Definitely better than family guy but hey it’s early days.
I love Futurama, I love Bender, I play the game. Not sure for how long, maybe it will become boring, but so far (1+ day) I like it.
*sigh* Yeah, so I’ve played a little of it. Not very enjoyable. EA doesn’t always get it right, but it seems like tinyco always gets it wrong.
I downloaded & played for a few minutes. IMHO, it’s a bit too cumbersome to play & sluggish on my device. While I like the idea of having mini games to go through some of the levels, the whole game play is on the grind side. I’m not a fan of the dialogue screens (even though you can skip) as it bogs down the whole experience & gets in the way. Will probably delete the app.
Downloaded it this morning, played for 30 minutes, deleted. Unnecessarily complicated and the screen is “dark” like FGTQFS. Not for me, as much as I adore Futurama.
Well, this is good to know that it’s a TinyCo game and this is apparently their model for pretty much all they do. Someone had mentioned the Avengers Academy game and now I see they did do that as well.
I’d tried that game and while it looked generally fun, it was plagued by crashes, not registering things I’d done when I closed out of it, and there were a lot of tasks that required premium characters you could only get by spending real money or doing way too much for too long in order to gain access to them. Some of them seemed to be timed characters as well, which made me feel like I was going to be forced to spend just to do basic stuff.
I got rid of that game, and I won’t be playing other TinyCo games because of it. I never watched much Futurama anyway, but it’s interesting to see how some gaming companies seem to “get” it and how others don’t. As bad as EA can be at times, they seem to get it mostly right with TSTO.
So I guess the lesson here is pretty simple: make people WANT to spend money instead of making them feel like they HAVE to. This is something that Gardenscapes “match 3” game gets wrong, too. Many of the boards in that game are so artificially difficult, and the coin cost is so high for booster items or a few extra moves when you come so close but fail, that it pretty quickly fell into that Candy Crush zone for me of being a thinly veiled pay-to-win model.
Yes, there are a number of things in TSTO that are made easier by having premium characters, and my perspective may be skewed by having a number of them, but a lot of things can still be earned from the events even without them. Plus, there are ways to build up donuts without having to spend a ton of money.
Last week I blew the dust off my FG game icon and launched it for the first time in over a year (or 2 years, I can’t recall now. I started it with the Star Trek event, played it a little while afterwards before giving up on it). Anyway, knowing that the Futurama game was around the corner, I thought I would give it another try. Well, I haven’t launched it again in a week, so I am disappointed to learn that the new Futurama game follows the same gameplay as this one. Sigh. I’ll give it a try, but expect my interest will waver off as it did with the FG Quest for Stuff game.
UPDATE: First, thanks for the heads up that the game was already available before the 29th. I started it last night. Alissa is right, the basic mechanics of the game are the same as the FG game. I am disappointed by that, but that said, I am playing and I am enjoying it for the time being (more so than the FG game, but that may be simply because I like Futurama better). So I’m giving it a chance and see where I go with it. It has given me a craving for pizza though now.
To be honest im really liking the game is anyone else?
Me! I love the game! 😃
Me too! I was prepared to hate it – but I am pleasantly surprised.
what a shame tinyco had to be the creators of the futurama game. we all know how badly family guy quest for stuff has turned out. i used to play it until it became essentially pay to play & the variety of what can be done when building the town is so minimal. worlds of tomorrow will have a promising start with all the excitement of it finally being released but it won’t take long til players get annoyed by the way tinyco will make the game less fun each update
I’m skipping this one and re-watching the episodes instead
Can someone explain how a relatively small company with a bad reputation was able to outbid an industry giant in EA (and just to be fair, EA has done some screw jobs too but they already had a winning model in place).
1) It’s likely Fox has a better relationship with TC than EA 2) TC is now owned by JamCity, so they’re not as small as you think 3) we don’t know if EA even bid on the game
Commenting again. If I did earlier “bash” tiny co I did not intend to. I liked the game, graphics (though the mismatch sized buildings were wonky), event ideas, characters etc…
I did not and do not enjoy games of chance. The drop rates were beyond frustrating! Even if it took just as long to earn something, I prefer to see payoff or progress for my work and effort, not “luck”. I played for over a year and enjoyed it a lot until the drop rates became just too frustrating. I wish the futurama was different because family guy was so close to being fun but I just could not handle the randomness any longer.
Just downloaded the game. Cumbersome best describes game play. Sluggish. A little confusing. Not very flexible. It guides you in a particular direction. Not what I hoped for. I will give it a few days.
Nope. Can’t do it. Don’t like it. Bad game progression.
Played 10 minutes….got the ‘buy $5 premium currency’ quest….
Already annoyed…..
Deleted.
Family Guy The Quest for Stuff has that too. I have a permanent task to buy 3,744 coins + 130 clams for $6.49. Coins aren’t even premium currency and I currently have 6.5 million coins. 130 clams will barely get you a costume and most characters are now 250+ clams ($9.50-12.50 depending on clam deal). Why anyone would pay such stupid prices for things is beyond me. Literally nothing in that game should cost more than $1.
So far, not impressed. It won’t even load. Any tips?
Uninstall and never look back.
Yeah I downloaded it late last night and have been playing it all day. Everything I hate about TQFS but with a better show. Very disappointed. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on TSTO and $10 on TQFS. Looks like all Futurama is gonna get from me is that first $5. Tiny Co really knows how to miss out on the real money.
I see a lot of TinyCo bashing here and hoping EA don’t become like them. I dislike Family Guy and have never played. What’s so bad about TinyCo?
The people at TC are phenomenal. I’ve gotten to know many of them personally (although a lot of the initial team from the start of tqfs has now left), they’re all great people. They even sent me a baby gift when the tiny addict was born.
It’s just their gaming philosophy is terrible. They don’t structure games for players, there’s a lot of “money grabbing” going on. Personally i get frustrated at the slowness of pace of play and the infuriating drop rates to unlock characters.
Re: Family Guy – They have a lot of timed characters (most annoying part) but generally events require dozens of items to unlock, but to unlock those dozens of items you need to collect other items and sometimes those other items require you to collect even more items. All of which means sending characters on 4-12 tasks around the clock. At the end of those tasks you only have a “chance” to actually get the item, so it’s possible to spend days getting nothing but frustration. Even if you gave up sleep and spent every moment playing the game there is no guarantee you will unlock everything.
Overall, the game feels very unfair and geared towards people spending clams (premium currency) on premium items, to rush tasks, or buy items that you didn’t get due to poor drop rates. Drops are also very inconsistent – some people unlock everything very quickly and wonder what all the fuss is about, while others barely get anything. TinyCo support are especially unhelpful on the matter, assuring everyone that “drop rates are normal” while people scream that they are not.
The stupid thing is that because it’s so unfair I will never spend a cent on the game. If I felt it was fair I would be more inclined to buy things to support the developers. I ask myself why do I even play FG on a regular basis. Tapped Out is a vastly superior game, so stick to that and avoid TinyCo games if you value your sanity.
The thing that really killed TQFS for me was I actually went a full event setting alarms for the middle of the night… Literally checking the game at least every 4 hours. It was awful. All that and I still didn’t finish the event. I’ve opened the game once since then.
My thoughts exactly!
TSTO people are rolling in money. At lEAst EA is. They know what they’re doing. They don’t care what Tiny Co is doing. Except as a “What not to do”.
TinyCo = GIANT NO!
Just downloaded & played it for the past 45min.
And it’s exactly what I thought it would be, because it’s made by Tiny Co. (not good)
I also stopped playing Family Guy because it I felt it came more about gathering Junk then real game play / a story.
Of course also like all Tiny Co games, the begging to buy premium content/coins has started early through quests that won’t go away.
After playing FGTQFS, I have zero interest in it, especially now that I know it’s SSDG.
Alissa, a few words. One: the game came out today One day early worldwide. Don’t know why. Two: you could’ve said, if people the F. Guy game, they’ll like this and vice versa. Three: It kind of feels like you are only looking at the bad things (which you are) but treating it like if it’s heck. I am okay with your opinions, but whatever. I still like TSTO, and I’ve been playing since 2014! I love the Futurama game, and people like this game WAY more than Family Guy (thank goodness)! If you are offended or upset, sorry. -B. Blaze
This post isn’t meant to be a review of the game. It’s meant to say we’re not doing a Futurama Addicts site, for all those who have asked, and explaining why. If I don’t enjoy the game I won’t write a blog about it, I’m sorry. So for this particular post the point was to indicate WHY we won’t be doing a Futurama Addicts, not a direct review of the game. So my opinions stated in this post support why we’re not writing a new site.
In fact this post doesn’t focus on anything other than to say it contains all the things I hate about TQFS and that’s why I won’t be writing about it. And I do indicate there are some things I like. Again, it’s not a review of the game and literally focuses on nothing specific about the game.
I am sorry. Didn’t really understand the post that much. If you felt that I was forcing you to make a Futurama Addicts Website, sorry. Again, my apologies and my mistakes, Alissa. -B. Blaze 🙂
Dude, you’re liking your own posts??
I’m liking random posts. If I do my own, Heh.
Once more, I hope we are all still friends and we can get along. Apologies and mistakes and regerts (have you seen that Snickers commercial?), B. Blaze 🙂 🙂 🙂
In my opinion the Futurama game th Family Guy with different graphics.
But you what Dirty Harry said about opinions 😜
I ment: “Butt you know….”
You confirmed my fears: another FG:QFS clone. 🙁 I put that game down two years ago, after playing for 2 1/2 years. I visit the posts for the game every now and then. NOTHING has changed, in fact, its looks as if it has gotten worse. I was saddened when I heard TinyCo got the rights to Futurama. I knew it wouldn’t be given the justice it deserves. What a BAD move…. :-I
I’m honestly surprised that there seems to be no sign of cross-advertisement with Futurama in TSTO, which would work especially well given the time travel theme, but I suppose with a completely different game company running it, it only makes sense. I also worry that this may mean no Futurama cast in TSTO for good.
Yeah, only way now is for TC to pull a Sony to get more exposure for the game but don’t see that happening as most TSTO tappers dedicated enough to care already know. I’d imagine casuals will be turned off when they read the Reviews in the App Store.
Just one word. … Dammit!
OK, a couple more. .. Dammit and dammit again.
I just can’t face another FG type frustration.
I tried and tried with FG. But I so nearly smashed my tablet against the nearest hard surface. I don’t want to have to buy another device in the near future (rama) …. Pass. 🙁
I’m dissapointed to hear you won’t cover FWOT as I’m currently excited to play it. I also would’ve loved it if the characters from Futurama (or even just Fry, Leela and Bender) were in TSTO game in some sort of portal to New New York.
