It’s finally Turkey Day here in the US! And you know what that means…Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Apple and Pumpkin pie, football, stretchy pants and insane sales at the mall! (or in my case, for those who listened Episode 19 of Addicts Live, Mashed Potatoes, and Bread…check out Episode 19 to see how we all celebrate(d) Thanksgiving!))
Oh and a special Shoutout to my Mom and Dad who are celebrating their 38th Wedding Anniversary today. Despite what EA says, the Magic is very much alive in their marriage!
You may notice things a little quiet around here today (you can always check out the details of the Thanksgiving Mini Event here) as we take the day to celebrate the holiday with our families. Although…..Super Safi will likely be lurking around the comments, as Canadians celebrated Thanksgiving last month. So like a lot of you, Safi will be working today too!
And yes, the mystery boxes hit today. We’ll have breakdowns for each box, like we always do. But be patient. No rush to get everything, it’s not going anywhere today.
However, we couldn’t let a day dedicated to being thankful go by without a special THANK YOU to YOU…our AMAZING readers! Happy Thanksgiving everyone and congratulations on your parents’ anniversary, Alissa. I like and don’t like the mystery boxes for this Black Friday update, I like that I can get items at a really great price like Herb and Dia-Betty for 80 donuts each now instead of 200 and 225 donuts before and that I don’t have only an hour to decide to buy something or have to stay awake/wake up for something in the morning, I also liked that I got Himeji Castle from the gold box with the first free token. I don’t like that some of the items are multiples or how the gold box requires a separate currency which is only available through donut purchases, especially that I only have one item left in the box which is the University Nerds. To end on a positive note, I am thankful that I found this game which can be fun and enjoyable at times, the Christmas event this year will be my 4th full one since I started playing halfway though the 2013 event. I also can’t wait to see if anything happens in the game next week after the Thanksgiving and Black Friday updates, I hope there is an episode tie in or an update for the Heights.
I am honestly so upset right now. Cecil and his stupid money thing. Whatever task it is that the game wants me to do right now wouldn’t let me send them all at once and I had to individually send them off on 4hr tasks and I was running through it real quick and lost 1M because of Cecil and his stupid money thing. I am honestly so mad. I was just about to finally get the Sit and Rotate and now I’m down another million again.
For the dozen donuts option, there is no gold token included. Gold tokens only come in the $4.99 donut options or higher. Is this a glitch?
No. It’s a marketing ripoff.
It might be a glitch. I bought a dozen donuts for an extra token (and got the nerds!) but when I first looked back I did not see an option to get a token with another dozen. Later I looked back and the dozen donut token had reappeared. It seems the cheapest way to open items in the Gold box is to buy several dozen donut boxes though you do get fewer donuts that way.

TSTO was my first mobile game, I’ve been grateful to the addicts ever since for their guidance. I also occasionally saw the cranky guy on another website. I am grateful he met the tiny addict and the cranky reunited with the bliss ninnies. I appreciate you all. TY for all your hard work!

I forgot to ask: Looks like I have 10 Donuts more today than yesterday – is that another Thanksgiving present? There was some obscure hint of donuts in the messages that popped up today, in addition to the cornucopia. (Must be about the fifth by now – I really wish EA would give us something else for a change. Not sure how many of them I can really use. 🙂

As expected, not much in the mystery boxes for me. The Donut Boat was the only thing in the free box, and there is Sugarloaf Mountain in the Outdoor Box. Didn’t want to spend 100 Donuts for that when it originally appeared, now I am trying to make up my mind if it is worth 80 Donuts. Since there isn’t anything else, I might just go for it…
I spend about 600 donuts on boxes. I only had 2 things i lïke, the rest i would never had bought. I stop buying boxes now and start saving for x-mas. At least then i can buy what i want.

Too bad Alissa and the rest of the folks that run this site aren’t in charge of EA b/c once again she has some nice ideas on how to keep Tapped out fresh and fun as the recent Christmas ideas post proves (I want human-skin Maude!).
I’ve been a long time player (since Christmas 2013), and I have been disappointed in the recent direction of Tapped Out. The recent Harry Potter event was terrible with the tedious boss battles. I had to spend 20 donuts to get Lord Monty on the final day of the event (whose battle was WAY too long and I didn’t want it all go to waste). When I read about the Mystery Boxes on Black Friday, I thought to myself, what was wrong with the previous Black Friday formula. Ugh! I almost considered uninstalling the game.
Fortunately, I had recently started KEM farming (plus other ways to get donuts, such as the Monorail, Where’s Maggie, etc). and got about 700 donuts. Despite my earlier doubts, I decided to spend some donuts on the Characters box as I wanted Unkie Herb in my Springfield. Got him on my 6th try. Also got Drederick Tatem, as I got his Boxing skin. However, I also got characters I had no interest in such as Ling, Chester Dupree, Sideshow Bob’s wife, and Steven A Sm…err Anger Watkins. Some of the other characters like Jimbo and Miss Springfield I already had in my Springfield prior to this. Overall, I spend 480 donuts and have 200 left and plan to save them for Christmas/Winter event if there is anything of interest.
Hopefully, the upcoming Christmas/Winter event is better and nothing like the Harry Potter event.

I got 4 mystery boxes trying to get Pokey. Finally got him and watching him popcorn when I tap him is so worth it.
Anyone else having a repeating dinging noise since Thanksgiving boxes started? Won’t stop for me. It’s like the unlocking ding noise that just keeps repeating constantly. Help.
I have the same thing. I normally play with my sound off anyways.
Someone stated that three times the item they wanted was to the far left and that was what they received

I posted on the hump day post about my game being stuck on a mystery box and not being able to play at all. Went through all the troubleshooting including deleting and reinstalling. Contacted EA but since it’s a holiday I doubt if ill hear from them in the near future. Anybody else having issues?
I was happy to get the donut boat from the gold box.. that was really the only thing I wanted from that box. I also opened the character box twice and got about what I expected (not what I wanted) the Wiccans and Anger Watkins. I’m calling it a win. Not going to open anymore boxes, like I promised myself yesterday.
Took my free shot and got an item I hate. Other boxes have too much clutter to be worth a shot. Swing and a miss EA. Think they would have learned their lesson about boxes by now…

I ended up going crazy and buying everything that all of the boxes had to offer. Now I’ve got 14 different tasks and quest lines that need completing. Also not sure if it’s a spoiler or not but has anyone else noticed the killer itchy and scratchy robots in the character collection under robots?
Didn’t realize I had so much 😞. I have only two boxes available. One with Little Lady Justice and Gone Fishin boat, and another box with reindeer with Gorilla. I’ll get the Gorilla one because it’s silly but the other ones are blah.
There are many people and things for which I am deeply grateful in my immediate personal life, but one thing for which I have been and continue to be very deeply grateful is the heroic work of my friends Ricardo and Jafet, and the Amazon parrots themselves in Puerto Rico.
The Puerto Rican Amazon parrot was one of the rarest parrots in the world when efforts were begun to save the parrots from extinction. After roughly 20+ years of painstaking captive breeding and release programs in two locations on the island, the birds number in the hundreds. Rio Abajo Forest and El Yunque Forest are the hone to the captive breeding facilities and the two wild flocks, entirely composed of the released offspring of the captive flocks. Despite the devastation of the forests caused by hurricane Maria, both captive flocks survived, the wild Rio Abajo flock survived with a loss of only approximately 1/4 of the flock, and the El Yunque flock survivors are being seen and assessed now.
That any nearly extinct species can make it through a hurricane with the magnitude of Maria verges on the miraculous. A great deal of that has to do with the tenacity of the parrots thmselves, but it is also thanks to the tireless efforts of my much esteemed colleagues Ricardo Valentin and Jafet Velez-Valentin. Each of the men is key to the captive breeding success at the two locations.Those men are heroes to me and I am very grateful for their tenacious dedication to their beautiful native parrot, fondly called the Iguaca by the people of Puerto Rico.

Given the SWBFII stuff, it’s inferring the same company went all in today with the Loot Crates / Mystery Boxes. It just shows how important they are to the current business model.
I only have one box and it only has Little Lady Justice in it. Not sure if lucky or I’m just insane for having so much stuff… LOL

Huh. I got the token, got a spa, theoretically got some donuts but don’t know how many … my builder counter says 7 new things but I don’t see anything when I go there that is “new.” Anyone else having this problem?

After the last week that I’ve had, I’m thankful for this community. You all are nice people, and Alissa does such a great job with this site. I wish I could meet Patric in real life, I think we would have some interesting discussions. I admire the work he does in Uganda.
In TSTO news, the boxes dropped today. I spent 400 saved up donuts, and managed to get most of what I wanted the first tries. I got the Springfield Sign, Ms Springfield, Herb, and a couple garbage ones, but overall, I came out ahead on this.
