Christmas 2020 Act 1 in Live! The Rundown and What You Need To Know (Updated and Complete)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

In our games, the snow is falling and TSTO is calling yoo hoo!  It’s the most wonderful time of the year Tappers, Christmas in TSTO!  And this year EA is insulting everyone with a true Sacrilegious Christmas…nothing says 2020 quite like this! Also always, loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up…

Once again we see another multi-event in Springfield.  So love them, or hate them, they’re still here.  So let’s all try to make the best of this…

Anywho….things kick off with a series of 6s tasks for Homer, Marge and Maggie.

After you’ve completed the initial task you’ll kick off the 2020 Xmas Event!

Note: I’m still updating returning content, but wanted to get this out there for you guys to see the new stuff.  Check back shortly for the returning content to be added (outside of Mystery Boxes, those are included here).  Post will say updated and complete when finished.

First, remember this was an app store update available for download.  So if you haven’t already done so, and you don’t see the Splash Screen above for your game, head to your app store and update TSTO.  You may have to search the store for Tapped Out, as it doesn’t always appear on the update list initially…

Second, EA this is unacceptable…the Splash Screen should fill the space not have a giant void on the side of it…

Here’s EA’s event synopsis:

When the Movementarians return to Springfield just before Christmas, Homer gets sucked into the cult
again in the hopes of taking The Leader’s Spaceship to Blisstonia. Marge and Flanders try to save Homer
from the cult, but the Movementarians are too crafty, so they have to enlist the help of Rabbi
Krustofsky. The Rabbi calls in the big guns for help, Yahweh and Moses. Moses ends up falling into the
cult himself. Baby Jesus shows up to see what’s ruining his birthday and catches the eye of King Herod who wants to finish the job he never could before. Welcome to Sacrilegious Christmas 2020.

We should all know by now unless of course, you’re new to TSTO that the prizes for this event follow the same questline format to unlock as our regular mini-events do.

Just like every large event recently, this is not your typical Major Event.  And there are pros and cons to that, and everyone will find their own pros and cons.  And some people’s pro will be someone else’s con.

As always, I just ask that you have an open mind, and reserve judgment until we’re into the event.  It’s 5 weeks long, it should be fairly easy to complete, you’ll unlock a bunch of new prizes and no crafting to grind through,  so let’s just have some good old fashioned TSTO fun! And, as long as you don’t rush things, you won’t get bored because it’ll change each week!

Here’s the event schedule:

Act 1 Starts December 9th (WEDNESDAY)
Act 2 Starts December 17th (THURSDAY)

Act 3 Starts December 26th (SATURDAY)
Act 4 Starts January 4th (MONDAY)

Event Ends January 13th, 2021 (WEDNESDAY)

As I stated above, the initial quests are 6s .   Once completed you’ll start the Space Cadet questline, which is the Act 1 story to follow.  This is how you’ll unlock the Act 1 prizes.

Note: Some of you have mentioned you are having trouble getting the event to start.  You need to download the latest update and the requirements for this are: Level 12 and you MUST have Bart and his Treehouse unlocked.  It won’t trigger without those two.

The Ol’ Frazzle Dazzle Pt. 1
Auto starts

Homer: Click…and drag. Click…and drag. Click…and drag. Three items in the cart. Marge. Lisa. Bart. Woohoo! I’m done with all my Christmas clicking!
Maggie: *sucking sounds*
Homer: You know about Christmas?
Maggie: *sucking sounds*
Homer: Okay, what do you want?
Maggie: *sucking sounds*
Homer: One pacifier coming up! Clicked…and dragged! Free three-day delivery? Tell that to someone who started shopping before the 23rd! Verify shipping address? Who’s working for who? Nog break!
Make Homer Drink Eggnog- 6s
Make Maggie Verify Homer’s Shipping Address- 6s
Marge: Homer, you just drank a gallon of eggnog!
Homer: We need to finish it off. It’s Christmas Eve Eve — and we all know the government takes it away on the 26th. Why can’t we keep it until New Years?! It’s seasonal! Seasonal!

The Ol’ Frazzle Dazzle Pt. 2
Auto starts

Marge: I’ll pick up some more eggnog on the way back from the mall.
Homer: Remember to get more nutmeg, too! And more nog! And more nutmeg! And more nog!
Marge: Stop that!
Homer: It’s hard to get the balance right!
Marge: My sisters are coming over for Christmas so we need to finish putting up the decorations.
Homer: Your sisters? But Christmas is the season of love!
Marge: I’m taking the kids to see Santa. You can Christmas-ify the house until we get back.
Homer: I’m going to make our house a vision of Christmas electric cheer!
Make Homer Cause A Citywide Blackout- 6s
Make Marge Take the Kids to the Mall- 6s
Make Maggie Update Pacifier Quantity in Shopping Cart- 6s
Homer: *moaning* Blacking out the town was way funnier when it happened to Chevy Chase!
Movement Ad Truck: Feeling Frazzled? Join the Movementarians for a Frazzle-Free Holiday Feast!
Homer: I am feeling frazzled! I do love feasting! This ad truck knows me better than I know myself! Can you really deliver a frazzle-free holiday?
Recruiter: Yes! We at the Movementarians create a frazzle-free zone by removing frazzles, which are inter-dimensional grumpiness gremlins. We use our spaceship to dump them in a distant nebula.
Homer: You had me at spaceship! How much does this frazzle-free holiday cost?
Recruiter: The initial frazzle test is free. After that, it’s all-you-can-earn.
Homer: Did you say all-you-can-eat?
Recruiter: Sure, that too.

And this triggers the entire story premise for each act…

(and yes, just like I did for the past multi-events, I’ll be posting full dialogue for this one before each week is over)

Now let’s talk about what’s included…

Here’s the Act 1 Synopsis from EA:

While decorating the house for Christmas, Homer gets lured away by the Movementarians with the promise of freeing him from all his frazzles and delivering a frazzle-free holiday, not to mention a ride in The Leader’s spaceship. Marge returns home from Christmas shopping with the kids to discover Homer gone and a note left behind. She enlists the help of Flanders to save Homer from the Movementarians.

As Homer rises up the ranks of the cult, Patty and Selma join too. Marge and Flanders do their best to save Homer but are unable to lure him away.

DO NOT FORGET TO SCROLL UP AND DOWN IN THE TASK BOXES (PICTURED ABOVE) TO BE SURE TO COMPLETE ALL TASKS FOR EACH PART.

I’ll lay out specifically what you need to do for each part in the turbo tappin’ post, but I don’t want any of you to get messed up with this.  So don’t forget to SCROLL!

Tickets are earned via Daily Challenges.  You’ll earn 1, 2 or 3 tickets for various challenges.  They will not appear as prizes for Daily Challenges UNTIL you’ve triggered the event start (so until you see the prize track).  And then, if you have current tasks available they’ll still appear as donuts unless you clear it.  Here’s what the Wonderland Challenges will look like:

So, while fun, this is not like the Stonecutters puzzles I was hoping for…

Returning Cash Items:

Hot Roasted Chestnuts Cart- $1,000

Present Depot- $2,000

Pile of Presents- $200

Murdered Snowman- $7,500

Flaming Christmas Tree- $1,000

Burning Bush- $500 (some of you are asking about this and it’s bonus %.  Yes the Bush usually comes with a bonus % and it usually costs donuts.  In this case it costs cash and it still has the .5% bonus.  So grab them while you can!)

New Year’s Ball- $500

Returning Premium:

All returning premium content will be available from today until the event ends on January 13th.  Also, I’m not doing new SIB posts for the returning content (I may do the Mystery Box, but not sure yet).  So I’ve linked the previous posts for you to review here.  And I’ve also linked them on the Event Page for you to find later in the event.

So, YES the Holiday Light Facades are back!  You can find them in this group:
Remember, these are just alternate looks for existing buildings in Springfield. These are NOT new buildings.  Festive Light Plunger turns these off and on, or you can tap the house to switch the Facade.

Here’s the other returning premium content…

There may be a couple of other premium bundle offerings available, but I can’t see them in any of my games.  (I see icons for them in the game files, but no other info)

Donut Offerings:

These are donut bundles available for CASH purchases (real life cash)..

Again, these are the US prices.  This is what EA gets from the totals.  Your pricing may be different and that as to do with VAT from Apple and Google, not EA.  Pricing varies per country…

Item Limits

Item limits increased with Halloween, they have not been increased for Christmas.

And that’s it my friends.  The details of Act 1 of the 2020 Christmas Event!

Your thoughts on the event?  Thoughts on the content?  Excited to see the storyline? Sound off below, you know we love hearing from you!

168 responses to “Christmas 2020 Act 1 in Live! The Rundown and What You Need To Know (Updated and Complete)

  1. Unrelated, but I really really need them to bring back Golden Goose Realty. 80% of my Springfield is well built, the rest 20% is jammed wall to wall with buildings because I’ve maxed out what I can purchase for land. It’s getting so that I don’t even want any more buildings.

  2. Login Screen (yep! EA is getting heckled for that on Twitter & Facebook) 😂

Lots of new Content, returning Content, same Event Format (at the dialogue is very clever) ….. didn’t start Tapping until lunch time today and just laughing along (at least we finally have a use for ‘that lone Flying Saucer’ we’ve had for years – takes those Movementarians to Planet Blissitinia!)

Wow! Burning Bushes are cheap and quickly increase your Bonus % XP (yay!)

  3. Love that there is a new monorail station, time to slowly build more track. Something else to do along side the 4hour grind

    • Eltz

It’s an old Premium Content that’s available in the regular Mystery Box ….. it just the Station didn’t come with the extra Platforms and Stairs (obtaining those today made it complete, now I got to put monorail track in the Santa Land section of my Springfield!) This is going to be a fun Event! ❄️🎄☃️

  4. Thanks to these burning bushes, my multiplier went from 150% to 992%

    • 😂 I have a bit of a too-much-gene and a bad case of fomo so I buy things like a madwoman… I went from 250 to almost 900 but I’m not done yet lol. What was the item limit again? 😝

    • Lol I went from ca 250 to 900 as well. I have a huge case of fomo and also somewhat of a too-much-gene, so I buy things like a madwoman…

What was the item limit again? I’ve never paid attention to it because I’m not 939 yet and also don’t have a crazy amount of stuff. Yet. Well, now I do with the bushes 😆

      • Sorry, I thought the first comment didn’t go through because I got rerouted to log in and couldn’t see it until I posted the second one… woops.

    • Haha my multiplier is now about 5712%, up from 3600%. I did hit the limit on the number of items i could have placed in my town, so i had to put some of the bushes away lol

  5. So that is where the small purrple flying saucer was from, a previous Mover event. I’ve seen them on other neighbouring Springfields and wondered where they got them.

Does not yet appear that it is available in this event, though.
    🙁

  6. Is God going to be available to buy again??

  7. How come my daily challenge today was for normal cash even tho I don’t have all the stuff in the wonderland box?

    • As i said in the rundown post, you won’t see the ticket until after you launch the event and clear a daily challenge that may have been there before. Because daily challenges appear before this event hit, you would have to clear the current challenge once the event is launch to start event specific ones.

  8. Grindor the Aged

Question: the holiday mystery box just disappears when I tap on it (I’m assuming because I have everything in it, but that’s still a poor design choice); meanwhile, I have no Santa’s workshop, and I’ve been waiting years for the return of the turkey – any suggestions?
Also, in your list of holiday facades, you are missing the gold mansion, another one that I’ve been waiting years to get. Yea! (Now, if they’ll only bring back the krustyburger monorail station accessories.)

  9. To obtain the first prize, scroll down and send Patty and Selma to chase the momentarian truck – which is the first prize.
So Patty and Selma aimlessly wander as they ‘chase’ the truck which does not yet exist.

Hopefully, that 4 hour task is permanent, so we will be able to see them ‘chase’

    • Tracy

That made me laugh, too …. our small dedicated EA Staff didn’t seem to care there was no Momentarian Truck to chase (or for Homer to drive) yet ….. but I would like those to be permanent Character Tasks (now that we have the Momentarian Truck!) 😂👍🏻

  10. I really like that give currency for daily tasks! They haven’t done that in quite awhile so that is a nice bonus! adds to the every 4 hr tap routine.. something different daily! I’d love them to bring back neighbor visits, loved dropping presents or tapping elves in villages! But for now, super happy with new daily tasks!!

    • Kim

Me too ….. gosh it’s been 3 years? 🤔 Yeah plenty of Content (even a Monorail Station with all of it’s sections from Stairs to Platforms).

  11. Nothings says Christmas quite like a pagan festival, an Alien event and a nice Religious Cult gathering! Thanks EA…and who ever said you all didn’t have the Christmas spirit? What’s next for Christmas 2021… a four-part event highlighting the 4 individual sins of Christ???

    • We got everything from Hanukkah to Kwanzaa in Springfield (just having the Momentarian Cult makes things extra special this year!) 😂

🤫 I see Patty and Thelma are outstanding Members 😉

  12. Some of the Christmas ticket tasks would cause my game to get stuck, although not in a disastrous way. For example, I had a job to send out 10 people to do various jobs. One had me sending Helen Lovejoy on a task, but it actually required her to do it with Reverend Lovejoy, who was collecting currency. So I could see a dialog box popping up, but I couldn’t read it and I had to close the game and restart it and look at Helen Lovejoy’s tasks. Some people had tasks come avalable if you triggered them in a different order.

  13. Every year I’m always freshly in awe of the fine detail taken to make every item in the game look Christmasey.

    Interesting theme
    Good dialogue, so far.
Burning bush, icing on he cake!😁

    🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎃🎃🎃🎃🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

    • gasboss775

Those Burning Bushes with their Bonus XP % are the gift that keeps on giving in this Event (that and the increased Item Limits back in October). We still need more Land 😉

  14. Got Princess Martin years ago, but no Ice Palace. Looks like the palace isn’t available solo this time around.

    • Matt

Yeah same here ….. but I really need more Land in order to squeeze in another Palace / Castle (are you reading that EA?) 🤔

  15. I accidentally started my daily task before I started the event. The good news is that I was able to change the task after I started the event. Now my task is for tickets.

  16. The update isn’t available yet in my App Store. 😕

    • Have you searched Tapped Out? Sometimes it doesn’t appear in the updates section of the store but when you search the app it’ll appear as having an update.

Also, if that doesn’t work, you can try restarting your device and searching.

  17. I guess I have everything on the Santa Wonderland list.. I don’t get that gift box to open. and only have one item in the holiday mystery box.

Mind you it says that you can only get the tickets from daily challenges I am wondering if you need to earn a pair of tickets first before the option is shown in the choices…

    • Mine is shown in the choices and I don’t have any tickets. I could also kick myself for not reading this article first because I turned in my daily challenge right before the event. Errrgh.

    • Michaelk202

Check your daily challenge in the next 24 hours, you should be prompted for Character Tasks that reward Tickets (any unused Tickets accumulated if you already have all the Content in the Santa’s Wonderland can be exchanged for 🍩’s!)

  18. Does this mean we wont get donuts or cash for daily challenges during the event only tickets, or could i be either?

  19. If you have everything in santas wonderland, the daily challenges will just be rewarded with donouts like normal right?

  20. Happy holidays tapping Addicts! 🎄
I’m quite happy the Movementariasm are back, who doesn’t like to sing “Na na na na Leader!” occasionally.

So far the only minor nuisance with EA is that for us on the other side of the pond it’s late afternoon and my daily task is still the regular one so I’ll lose a (2?) Santa ticket.
In the end it won’t matter much but it’s a box (or 2) I won’t be able to get. 🙄

    • I turned mine in right before the event triggered. AS I was doing the intro quest. Derp. Should have read this article first… I could kick myself right now. But yeah, don’t feel bad, I lost 2 tickets as well 😕

  21. Is it possible to free Maggie? I just put her on a 24 hours Job in the Simpsons House.

    • I don’t think so. She may be linked to the playdough factory, but I can’t remember for sure. Try storing it and if it says it’ll store 1 character then it’s likely Maggie. If not then she’s stand-alone.

      • Maggie is a standalone character, so there is no way to free her from the Simpson’s house.

        • Can you store the Simpson’s house? I have stored other buildings and the characters inside are released from task. (Attached character is stored too)
Let me get started on this event and enjoy the snow!
          Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!

  22. Burning bushes. Fields of burning bushes. A literal wildfire of burning bushes.

  23. Burning Bush glitch!!! But it’s not giving me the 5 donuts…that would be crazy…but I’m getting the bonus percentage

    • Thank You alert Tappers, my pocket sized hell just got a lot toastier as it fell into a burning ring of fire…

      • Since the money is useless and will be maxed out again by the end of the day, this was a good time to take our percentage up to 5001.49%.
        Thanks for the tip.

  24. Burning Bush is on sale for $500 and still gives you .50% bonus get it before they catch on!

  25. Homer’s eggnog musings hit me hard.
I always seem to get a last minute hankering for egg nog New Year’s Eve ……. but have a super hard time finding it.

    • storbinc

Isn’t it a sin that eggnog is only available in December ….. and the due date never goes past January (so you got to drink it all in December before it goes bad?) Yeah, deprives me of eggnog cocktails 🍹😉

  26. Im sooooooo excited about the xmas lights! I finally have them for all the houses!!!!
And, unless they take it away, all the trick or treat kids can trick or treat for the 4 hrs???? How awesome is that? Better late than never!!! Its a Christmas miracle! Hey…if Tim Burton can combine the 2 holidays…..👍🎄🎃🎅👻💝

    • And a Burning Bush to compliment those homes that are extra Festive 😂

This Event is so silly ….. how can it possibly offend anyone unless you are a Cult member! 😉

  27. Burning Bush (.5% bonus) is available in the store for $500 cash!

  28. The burning bush is in store under Christmas for 500 cash and gives bonus % . Seems like this shouldn’t be 500 cash surely?

  29. There’s no token on my prize track

  30. The splash screen fills the whole screen on our Android device. Yours might be an Apple device issue. Time to get rid of that thing and leave their cult. Remember the Movementarians?

    • Remember what happens when you assume…

I have an Android Device. (for the record, I despise Apple)

      • As an Android user, TSTO is the reason for me to always also have a modern Apple device in the house. Performance is so much better even on a 2020 Iphone SE (A13 SOC) than the highest of high-end Androids.

Clearing my Springfield is almost twice as fast on the SE compared to a Snapdragon-865-equipped phone.

        • On the other hand, my poor SE just overheated after about 1,500 burning bushes. Oops. 😀

        • I’ve been playing TSTO on Android devices since 2013. (I started in 2012 on an iPad from work) I upgrade my device every 2 years and have never had an issue playing TSTO, speed or anything else.

          • To put a few numbers to it, I always test devices by clearing Springfield via the Sky Finger Monument. This results in a bit over 14 million XP (a.k.a 14-15 rounds of donuts) and these are the times over different devices:

            – 2019 Snapdragon 855 ~28 seconds
            – late 2019 Snapdragon 855+ ~27 seconds
            – 2020 Snapdragon 865 24~25 seconds
            – 2016 Apple A10 ~18 seconds
            – 2020 Apple A12Z 16~17 seconds
            – 2019 Apple A13 ~14 seconds

There are also significant differences in scrolling smoothness depending on screen resolution and SOC, like the 2020 Ipad Pro with A12Z being somewhat jerky while scrolling with its high-res, 120 Hz screen while the 2020 Iphone SE with its much lower-resolution, 60 Hz screen and newer SOC being the smoothest of the bunch.

I know, it’s just a few seconds saved, but I’d like to read your thoughts if you ever get the chance to try Tapped Out on a modern IOS / IpadOS device.

        • Probably not better than my Note 20 Ultra. I’m also having the same issue as Alissa. It has to do with the screen ratio of the device.

Ask Santa to get you a real phone. 😁

          • Your Note 20 Ultra either runs on a Snapdragon 865 or an Exynos 990, te 865 being the better and higher-performance option of the two.

But as I mentioned in my follow-up, whichever version it is, it’s significantly slower in Tapped Out than an A13-sporting SE 2020, and presumably more so compared to any of the A14-based bunch of Iphone 12s.

(btw, note the “As an Android user” in my post, the SE is used strictly for Tapped Out and doesn’t even have a SIM in it)

            • You can’t seriously think that a game task is the equivalent to a benchmark test. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Check out real benchmark results. Collecting from the Sky Finger is incredibly fast for me.

Do you know what display resolution these phones you tested were set at?

The water resistance on your iPhones don’t even work.

              • Yes, a consistent, repeatable task can be used as a benchmark.

These results are roughly in line with what you would expect given the relative single-core performance of the devices tested.

Water resistance? What the literal huh?

              • Sorry, but incorrect. You don’t know how iOS is processing the game vs Android, that’s why. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Apple just recently got into tremendous trouble for their water resistance because they rated its water resistance using pure distilled water which is absolutely not comparable to real everyday use at all. Distilled water has different properties than tap water. Also, one of their iPhone producers in India had a worker riot because they haven’t been oaid for FOUR months.

Lastly, the Note20 Ultra’s screen natively runs at 120hz which is taxing on the CPU. Maybe you should have ran to at 60hz like the rest of the ones you tested, or use a real benchmark app.

              • It does not matter how any platform “processes” Tapped Out, it literally could be all Christmas Elves and abaci, as long as the task is identical across all tested devices. (which it is)

It is, after all, the time to complete said identical task that is the measure of performance.

The WTH was based on the complete non-sequitor of bringing up an unrelated feature in this specific discussion.

              • “Collecting from the Sky Finger is incredibly fast for me.”

You might have a significantly less compute-heavy Springfield. Feel free to friend request me on Tapped Out / EA if you want to have a look at my benchmark Springfield.

              • My screen runs at 120hz natively. I turned it back to 60hz and the difference is night and day compared to collecting from thr Sky Finger on my Note8.

I’ve been playing since the Squidport update. I’ll try to add you as a neighbor today.

Definitely a screen ratio (why can’t those of us with a screen larger than 6 get some ❤️?)

            Motorola G 5G
            Android OS 10
            Screen size 6.7

      • Ha ha, must admit I assumed the same, my splash screen is ok on Android.
Wondered how quick of the mark folks would be regarding the burning bush , no brainer at $ 500 but of course eats into your item limit.
All in all there is plenty going on in this Xmas event & although it’s the same old tired format, at least it feels different with the snow, lights & collecting the tickets. Nice effort EA.

      • Excellent! One more check in the Plus Column for Alissa.

    • NeilKCad

      I have a Motorola G 5G
      Stock Android OS 10
      Screen size 6.7

aaand just like Alissa, I got the same Login screen issue (it’s 😂 but yeah EA is getting heckled over it online).
