Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So, here is your Open Thread…..

Some things you may have missed this week around the Addicts Site:

ICYMI you can help out the Little Addict, Riley, and her school here.

  2. Well MLB opening day is upon us this week woohoo! Just curious what other baseball fans preseason world series picks are. In the American league, I’m going with Toronto(that lineup!) which I’m sure Safi will approve. And in the National league I’ll avoid picking my Cardinals(though I think they have a shot) and go with the Phillies as an underdog pick. They have a good offensive lineup it’s just a question as to whether their defense and pitching holds up.

    • I think the Phillies will be a threat in the east this year for sure, definite underdogs that’ll go unnoticed. Mostly because people can’t get past the Mets…but you know, the Mets are gonna Met. Hence DeGrom on the IL and Scherzer hurt…Mets gonna Met.

And as far as the AL goes…I wouldn’t be a fan if I didn’t say the Yankees. 😉

      • The Yankees could easily be there, they are really strong on paper. If Judge, Stanton, and Donaldson stay healthy they’ll put up a lot of runs. I think if LeMahieu can bounce back and their new shortstop produces they’ll be strong contenders in a tough division.

        • They’re already lightyears better on defense than they were last year (just getting rid of Gary made them better…even if they didn’t add the others)

      • Go, Sox! 😜

    • I approve of this message!

    • I predict the Oakland A’s will eventually become the Las Vegas A’s (well their Minor League already plays out here!) …. but we might be getting an NBA 🏀 expansion team 1st (do not underestimate the financial power of these corporate owned resorts to build anything to attract everything that will spend 💵’s). 😉🎰

Give it up for Circa’s huge Sports Books 🤘🏻

Happy tapping all, good weekend, very mild weather, visited the van Gogh immersion experience in Edinburgh, was a different concept displaying the art and very enjoyable. Have a good stress free week I hope. 😎🤓🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇦👍

  4. Forgive my lack of proper terminology and inaccurate numbers:

The Excavation Site generates Flaming Torch 5% of the time, each torch is 0.2% and I’ve placed on my Squid Port tiles
Lisa runs on the tightrope and generates nuclear bombs about 5% of the time which produce 2.5%
The Rocket Ship generates KangTopiary 5% of the time which is 2.5%

After seven years, I’m at 2500 bonus %.

    Slog, slog, slog

  5. I have a 5419 bonus %. I raised my % by buying thousands of Mr. Burn’s mystery boxes for 6 donuts each. You get 2% for news vans and 1% for I&S billboards, but you get a lot of “junk” items as well as also getting donuts.

    • I’ve been playing the odds with the Yearbook angling for higher %, but this might be the way.

    • If your inventory is full of ponds and ‘ondas and the like you can dump ’em out, group select and sell ’em. Might as well get a bit of IGC rather than have ’em clutter up your inventory 😊

  6. I have been steadily updating my premium stuff… my XP bonus just hit 700%! I’ve gotten high % items in the Yearbook Mystery Box and leveled up all the Heights stuff (including beach hideaways). What’s your % and what else did you do to bump your % up that I may have missed?

    • I bought 4,000 Snowcats for my little town during the recent Winter event and stored all the News Vans and Billboards and Mini Nukes and JEBs. There’s also 6,652 Burning Bushes I stored a while ago. Dunno what that’d be if I dug it all out at once but with random deccies in town and the Snowcats that’s a little over 8,500%

My main town is about double that while I work on some insane farming to hit a daft self-imposed target for donuts. When that’s done the colllider is getting left off and I expect to tick by with a bonus around 2,400% – comparable to 500% with the collider on.

You’ll be surprised as you build your bonus just how much easier it gets to add more and how quickly it soon builds up 😊

    • PS keep checking the Vault in your Store. Burns Boxes average out around 8 donuts for 1% but can be a bit of a grind. Jet Engine Bikes are 20 Ds for 2% in the Vault and Mini Nukes are 35 Ds for 2.25% – cost a bit more per % but half the size of a JEB.
Those Snowcats I mentioned are 20 Ds for 2% and tiny at 1×1 unlike a News Van or JEB at 3×2 so you can fit in loads of ’em. They’re only out in Winter events though and don’t always return to the store each year.

    • The best way to bump up your bonus % (besides buying and placing the beach hideaway pieces) is to invest donuts in the Burns Mystery Box. The prizes in that mystery box go in a set pattern rotation, with several of the items carrying a bonus percentage (like the Itchy and Scratchy billboards and the television news van) which you can hide behind other buildings and decorations, once you’ve run out of natural design places to use them. The mystery box also gives out donuts and a few worthless decorations, but, the net result is excellent.

And, of course, if you have the Collider, always make sure to keep it running 24/7!

My bonus percentage is currently 2,271.15%, achieved through a combination of having been playing since mid-2014, the strategies I just mentioned, and a few mistakes EA had made over the years, when they mistakenly gave an item available for in-game cash a bonus percentage (like some of my spooky walls and tennis courts, for example).

Also, always keep an eye out for limited-time items that cost donuts but come with a great bonus percentage returns…I got a sweet of flags that did that and, sometimes, regular donut-costing items go on a good “sale,” and can be worth picking up for the bonus.

Finally, make sure to keep sending the rocket up (which can occasionally payout in Kang/Kodos topiary, which comes with a bonus percentage) and sending Lisa on The Eliminator (which can occasionally payout with a miniature nuclear warhead, which includes an even better bonus percentage). Theoretically, the rocket is also supposed to have a chance of paying out in one of those, but I went years before it finally did that once, and it hasn’t done that again in the years since… I’ve had better luck getting one of those warheads from The Eliminator.
